Deanna Kendall was standing on the balcony of her penthouse, looking into the night. The drink in her hand and the bottle of scotch on the table were her only comfort at the moment. Yes, she knew drinking didn’t solve anything, but it would help her relax after the episode which took place earlier in the evening. She just wanted to get away from the world, even if it just was for one night.
She closed her eyes and her mind drifted back to earlier in the evening. Most of it was a blur, but the main scene was locked in her head and couldn’t get out. The young girl dying in her arms was very real, and her words before she took her last breathe still echoed in Deanna’s head as she took another sip of her drink.
Deanna finished her drink and was about to do a refill, when there was a knock on the door. She didn’t feel like talking to anyone, but the knocking on the door was getting really annoying. As she got closer to the door, she could hear her sister’s voice through the door.
“Deanna, I know you are in there. Open the door or I will kick it in.” Megan said.
“I’m fine, Megan. Go away and leave me alone.” Deanna raised her voice.
“Deanna Louise Kendall! Open the door right now!” Megan kept knocking on the door.
“Shut up! You will wake up the neighbors.” Deanna said to her.
“It’s 8 PM! Open the door or I will call a locksmith. Your choice!” Megan raised her voice.
Deanna knew that Megan wouldn’t go away. She had known her for 26 years, and she had always been the kind of person who gets her will. Megan had a special gift; she could get anyone to do whatever she wanted. Letting out a sigh, Deanna opened the door.
“What do you want, Megan?” Deanna asked, rather annoyed of her presence.
“Johnny told me what happened. I just wanted to check on my baby sister. Is that wrong?” Megan asked.
“I’m fine. It was no big deal. A girl is dead because I didn’t do my job. End of story.” Deanna reached for the bottle on the table.
“Give me that.” Megan took the bottle from Deanna and poured it into the sink.
“Don’t you ever get tired of acting like my big sister? I’m 26 years old, and I don’t need you to look after me anymore.” Deanna sat down.
“I am your big sister. I’ve basically raised you since you were 6. Show me some respect.” Megan said to her.
“I’m sorry, Megan. I didn’t mean that.” Deanna walked back to the balcony.
Megan joined her sister on the balcony. Deanna wasn’t ok. Anyone with a brain could see that, but she was stubborn and wanted to deal with things on her own.
“Johnny agreed to give you some time off. I’ve booked a vacation for us, and we will be leaving the day after tomorrow. You need to get away, and when you come back, you will be ready to continue your job.” Megan said.
“A vacation sounds good, but I won’t go back to my job. A 16 year old girl is dead because I didn’t do my job. It’s over.” Deanna looked at her.
“You have to let it go. I know it’s hard but you have to. It will destroy you if you let it take over your life.” Megan hugged her.
“I know that, but she died in my arms. You know what the last thing she said to me was?” Deanna asked.
“No, but I would like to know.” Megan said.
“It’s not your fault. You did your best.” Deanna said with tears streaming down her cheeks.
“She was right. You did your best. It could have happened to anyone.” Megan wiped her tears away.
“But it didn’t happen to anyone. It happened to me.” Deanna sighed.
“She doesn’t blame you. Remember that!” Megan hugged her again.
Megan was right again. Maybe this vacation was what she needed to start over. After ordering some food, Deanna took a shower while Megan was setting the table. As the two sisters were eating, Deanna looked at her sister. Even though Megan could be a pain sometimes, Deanna felt good about having her around.
Later that night, Megan was watching over her sister. She had decided to spend the night with Deanna, and she wondered what would happen after the vacation. Deanna loved her job, but could she put all of this behind her and move on? Only time would tell.

”Go home and get some sleep, David. I will stay here with him.” Carlos told his friend.
“Call me if there is any change.” David said as he walked to the door.
“I will do that. Urs will be here in the morning.” Carlos looked at him.
David left the room and Carlos sat down next to Sébastien. It had been two weeks since the accident, and there had been no change in his condition. He was still in a coma, and the doctors didn’t know if he would ever wake up. All they could do was wait and hope for the best.
When David came home, he found Monique sitting on the couch with some old photos. Séb’s accident had been really hard on her, and David couldn’t stand to see his girlfriend like this. Séb had been raising her since their parents died, and they were really close.
“How is he?” Monique asked as David sat down next to her.
“There is no change. He is still in a coma.” David let out a sigh.
“He has to be alright. I couldn’t deal with losing him too.” Monique looked at David with tears in her eyes.
“He will be ok. You have to believe that.” David pulled her close to him.
“I love you, David.” Monique managed to say between sobs.
“I love you too, Monique. Let’s get some sleep.” David kissed her and got up, pulling Monique with him.
They walked into the bedroom where they fell asleep in each other’s arms. Hopefully the next day would look brighter.
The next morning, Carlos was sleeping in a chair when Urs walked into the room with his girlfriend of three years, Charlene. They would never get used to Sébastien lying there, and the fact that there hadn’t been any changes was really frustrating.
Urs let out a sigh as he walked over to Carlos and woke him up. Carlos woke up slowly and couldn’t really believe it was already morning. He didn’t want to leave Séb’s side but Charlene told him to get something to eat. She would stay with Séb and let him know if there was any change. Urs kissed Charlene before he joined Carlos for breakfast. As Charlene was sitting next to Séb’s bed, she heard a voice behind her.
“What are you doing here, Charlene?” Lucy asked.
“I should be asking you the same thing. You have no business here.” Charlene looked at her with anger in her eyes.
“Séb is my friend, and I have every right to see him.” Lucy walked over to the bed.
“You don’t have any rights. He is in this hospital because of you. We all know you were driving the car that day, and you will get what you deserve.” Charlene raised her voice.
“Ladies, please take this outside. This is not the time or place for this discussion.” a voice suddenly said to them.
“Sorry, doctor. She was just leaving.” Charlene looked at Lucy.
“I will leave but you haven’t seen the last of me. I will be back.” Lucy walked out of the room as Carlos and Urs returned.
Lucy smiled at them before walking down the hall. Carlos and Urs looked at each other, and they stayed in the hall until she was out of sight. The two friends walked into Séb’s room where the doctor was talking to Charlene.
“How is he doing, doc?” Urs asked as he walked over to Charlene.
“It’s still the same but we still have hope. I have to continue my round, but I will be back later to check on him.” the doctor replied and left.
“What did the witch want?” Carlos questioned with anger in his eyes.
“She wanted to see Séb. I can’t believe she has got to nerve to show her face here. We all know she is the person behind the threats, the slicing of the tires, the scratches on his car and the accident.” Charlene was fuming mad.
“Of course she is but we can’t prove that. She is good, really good.” Urs took her in his arms.
“I need some sleep. I will see you guys later.” Carlos looked at them..
“Yes. We will let you know if his condition changes.” Urs promised, still holding Charlene tight.
Carlos left the hospital and he was not in a good mood. As he walked to his car, he thought of that day six years ago, when Séb had introduced Lucy to them. Carlos disliked her from the moment he laid eyes on her but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was about her that made him feel like that.
After a few months, Carlos slowly changed his mind about her. She didn’t seem that bad, and she seemed to be in love with Séb. They were happy together until Séb came home unexpectedly and found Lucy in bed with another man. He kicked her out of the apartment and told her never to come back. The next day he received the first threat and after that, things only got worse. Now things couldn’t get any worse. Séb was in a coma and there was no guarantee that he would ever wake up. Lucy had gotten her revenge.
Carlos unlocked the door to his apartment and walked inside. He was single and after seeing what Lucy had done to Séb, he was happy about that. If the right woman walked into his life, then he would consider being in a relationship but for now he was happy just being himself. After getting undressed he climbed into bed and it didn’t take him long to fall asleep.
David and Monique arrived at the hospital earlier than planned. Monique wanted to be near Séb, and David felt the same way. When they walked into Séb’s room, Charlene was holding Séb’s hand and Urs stood by the window. Urs turned around and looked at them. Monique looked so sad when she hugged him, and he knew that it was killing her to see her older brother like that.
“Did anything happen while I was gone?” David asked Urs.
“No, it has been really quiet here.” Urs replied without looking at him.
David knew that look, and Urs was lying to him. Urs walked over to Charlene and whispered something in her ear. She nodded her head and left the room with Monique. As soon as they were gone, Urs looked at David.
“Lucy showed up. She wanted to see Séb.” Urs explained.
“Hasn’t she done enough damage? Our brother is in a coma because that witch ran him down. How dare she show her face around here?” David was angry.
“She will stop at nothing. If she had the chance she would turn off that machine. We have to watch him 24/7, and Simon has to come up with a plan when Séb wakes up.” Urs looked at him..
“I know. Maybe he should hire a personal bodyguard.” David suggested as he sat down.
“That sounds like a good idea. We need a meeting with Simon. The girls can watch Séb while we are gone. This is really important, and we have to do something now.” Urs agreed.
“I agree. I will call Simon right now.” David walked out of the room.
“What did he say?” Urs asked when David returned.
“He wants to see us at nine am at his house. I will text Carlos and let him know.” David replied as the girls came back.
“We have a meeting with Simon. Can you please stay here with Séb while we are gone?” Urs asked them.
“He wants a meeting now? What is wrong with that man? My brother is in a coma and all he thinks about is Il Divo?” Monique raised her voice.
“He wants to talk about what to do when Séb wakes up. Lucy is still out there and we don’t know what she will do.” David took her in his arms.
“I’m sorry. It’s just that he is my brother and I love him.” Monique apologized.
“It’s ok. We all love him, and I promise you that he will be fine.” David kissed her softly.
“Let’s go, David. We have to pick up Carlos on the way.” Urs said.
The guys left the room, and the girls sat down next to Séb. Holding his hands, they just sat there without saying anything. Monique stroked his cheek as she started singing to him. When they were kids, they would always sing together when they were sad. It helped them get through the bad times, and they had a lot of those.
After picking up Carlos, the guys went over to Simon’s house. He was just as upset as they were, and they had to do something about Lucy. Simon led them into the dining room where they could talk without being interrupted.
“We have been talking, and you should hire a bodyguard for Séb when he gets out of the hospital.” David looked at Simon.
“I have been thinking about that myself, and I have an old friend who owes me a favor. He has got some of the world’s best bodyguards, and I am sure he won’t mind sending one of them here.” Simon informed the guys.
“Send one of them here?” Carlos asked.
“He is from America. I will talk to him as soon as we have news about Séb.” Simon told the guys.
“That sounds good to me. We should get back to the hospital.” David looked at the others.
The guys said goodbye to Simon and left the house. As they drove back to the hospital, they talked about what would happen to Il Divo if Séb didn’t wake up. They knew there was a chance of him never waking up and if that happened, then they would have to decide what to do. After talking about it, the guys came up with a solution. The fans wouldn’t be happy about it, but Il Divo was Carlos, David, Urs and Séb. They couldn’t replace Séb with someone else, and continuing as a trio was not an option. Seemed like they only had one option, but hopefully it wouldn’t come to that.
When they returned to the hospital, they found Monique and Charlene sitting outside of Séb’s room. They had tears streaming down their cheeks, and the guys feared the worst. Just as Urs was about to ask what was going on, the doctor came out of Séb’s room.
“I’m glad you’re all here. Your friend is awake. We will have to do some more tests, but it looks like he is fine. We will know more this afternoon.” The doctor smiled..
“Can we see him?” David asked.
“Not right now. We want to finish the tests first. If all goes well, you can see him this afternoon. I can call you if you don’t want to wait.” the doctor replied..
“Monique and I will stay here.” David said as he held Monique’s hand.
“Good. I have to get back.” The doctor excused himself and walked back to Séb’s room.
“Call us when we can see him.” Urs told David.
“I will do that. See you guys later.” David promised..
After saying goodbye to David and Monique, the others left the hospital. Carlos invited them to his place for a cup of coffee and they accepted his offer. Urs called Simon and told him the good news. Simon was just as pleased as the others, and he told Urs that he would be at the hospital later. All they could do now was to wait and hope that Séb would recover completely.

While Deanna and Megan were on vacation, Johnny Patterson was in his office, thinking of how to make Deanna stay. He had her resignation in his hand and he had been reading it over and over. She was the best bodyguard he had ever worked with and he wasn’t ready to let her go. Somehow he had to make her stay but how could he convince a stubborn woman like Deanna to stay? He knew how she felt, and maybe that would help him when he had to talk to her after her vacation.
As he stood there by the window, he thought back to the day when she first walked into his office. It had not been the best meeting, mostly because of him and his reaction. He had been laughing at her when she told him that she wanted to be a bodyguard but it soon turned out that she was good. Her commitment to the job had really surprised him and she wasn’t afraid to get hurt. He admired her for her courage and he couldn’t imagine not having her in his team.
He walked over to his desk and sat down. After so many years his leg was still causing him problems and he would give anything to be out in the field again but it was impossible. It wasn’t that he didn’t love the job he had now, but he missed his old job sometimes. He looked at Deanna’s resignation one more time before throwing it into the garbage bin under his desk. Johnny was about to leave when his phone started ringing.
“Johnny Patterson,” he said as he answered the phone.
“Hello Johnny, Simon here. It’s been a while. How are you doing?” Simon asked.
“I’m doing ok. How are things in London?” Johnny wanted to know everything.
“Things could be better. I’m having a few problems and that is one of the reasons why I am calling you. I need a favor,” Simon told him.
“Tell me everything,” Johnny leaned back in his chair.
“One of the Divos had an accident. He just woke up after two weeks in a coma. Someone hit him with the car but we don’t think it was an accident. We think his ex is trying to get revenge but we can’t prove she is responsible. That’s why I need your best bodyguard,” Simon explained the situation.
“Sorry to hear about your Divo. I have problems too here. My best bodyguard, Deanna, has just resigned. She was protecting a young girl, but unfortunately the girl was killed. Deanna was devastated, so I sent her on a two week vacation with her sister. I expect her back here in about a week and I am still hoping that I can convince her to continue working for me,” Johnny said.
“A woman? You are kidding me, right?” Simon laughed.
“No, I am serious. She is really good, Simon,” Johnny was getting angry.
“If she is that good, then why did the girl die?” Simon asked.
“Deanna had no way of knowing that the girl’s ex had hired three people to help him. They all attacked at the same time and no bodyguard can handle three persons at the same time. I know that from personal experience,” Johnny reminded him.
“You’re right. I’m sorry. I really don’t care if it’s a man or a woman. I just need someone to keep my Divo safe until we can prove that his ex is behind the attacks,” Simon apologized.
“Alright. I will call you as soon as I talk to her. Goodbye, Simon,” Johnny hung up the phone.
Well, maybe a job working as bodyguard for one of the Divos would make Deanna stay. If not, then there was only one option. He knew that Megan was a big fan of Il Divo, and maybe she could convince Deanna to take the job in London. He felt good when he left the office. Only one more week and Deanna would be back. There was no way that he would let her quit.
Hotel Cactus, Rhodes, Greece – a week earlier
“Look at this place, sis. Isn’t it just great?” Megan asked as they got off the bus at the hotel.
“It’s nothing special,” Deanna replied.
“Would you please stop being so annoying. You are here on vacation and I don’t want to spend time with a grumpy person,” Megan looked at her.
“Sorry, Meg, I will try to relax and enjoy this vacation,” Deanna said.
“Good! Let’s go get the key,” Megan said with a smile.
The two sisters walked into the reception and ten minutes later they were in their room. Their balcony was facing the beach and the view was amazing. Deanna smiled when she saw the view and of course Megan noticed it.
“Was that a smile?” Megan asked her.
“Yes, it was a smile. I will have a great time here for sure,” Deanna looked at her.
“Me too! All of those Greek men,” Megan said with a smile.
“What about Carlos? Isn’t that like cheating on him?” Deanna teased her.
“I didn’t think of that. You’re right. No Greek men for me,” Megan smiled.
“You’re crazy,” Deanna said before bursting out in laughter.
“I know. Let’s get changed and get out of here. The beach is calling for us,” Megan hugged her.
They changed into their bathing suits and left the apartment. It was a warm and sunny day and the water was amazing. After swimming for a while, Deanna got out of the water and laid down on a sunbed. Megan got out of the water and walked over to the bar to order something to drink. A smile appeared on Megan’s face when she saw two men looking at Deanna. She couldn’t blame them for looking at her but they were wasting their time. Deanna’s heart was already taken, even though she didn’t want to admit it.
After getting her drinks, Megan walked over to Deanna but she could tell that something was wrong. She didn’t like the look on Deanna’s face and she knew it had something to do with the tragedy. Megan knew that Deanna was blaming herself for the girl’s death but Deanna had to let it go.
"Deanna Kendall!" Megan said as she handed a drink with an umbrella in it to her sister.
"I know, sis. It just saddens me to think that I get to enjoy this while a sixteen year old girl is dead," Deanna took the drink.
"I understand but she wouldn't want you to torture yourself, she would want you to relax," Megan held her sister’s hand.
"I guess you’re right," Deanna sighed.
"I know I’m right. Enjoy your drink and relax," Megan looked at her.
Deep down the images of the young girl dying consumed her soul but Deanna didn’t want to ruin her sister’s mood, so she just closed her eyes and relaxed. After spending a few hours at the beach, they walked back to the room to get ready for dinner.
After getting dressed they walked downstairs to the hotel bar to get a drink before heading to Belmo Palace for dinner. It was a popular restaurant in Rhodes and the guests kept coming back year after year. It was their first visit to the restaurant and they had no idea what to expect. The food was excellent and the waiters were really kind. It wasn’t the last time they would have dinner at that restaurant. The girls left the restaurant a few hours later and they walked back to the hotel where they had a coke before they called it a night.
Deanna woke up the next morning after a good night’s sleep. This was the first time since the incident that she had been able to sleep without having nightmares. Maybe this vacation was exactly what she needed to move on with her life. She got out of bed and walked out onto the balcony to look at the sunrise. It was a beautiful sight and Deanna watched the ships in the horizon and the birds in the sky. Deanna loved this place and she didn’t want to leave.
“Good morning, sis. Did you sleep well?” Megan joined her on the balcony.
“Yes, I did. I think this is what I need to get on with my life. Maybe I should settle down here and never go back,” Deanna looked at Megan.
“I won’t let you do that. You are all I have left and I don’t want to lose you too,” Megan was shocked.
“You wouldn’t lose me. I would still be your sister,” Deanna pointed out.
“That is not the point. You have your life and friends in New York,” Megan reminded her.
“You’re right about that. I would miss all of that. Ok, I won’t move here,” Deanna promised.
“Thanks. Let’s get some breakfast and then head down to the beach,” Megan suggested.
“Sounds like a good idea,” Deanna agreed as they walked back inside.
After getting dressed, they walked downstairs and enjoyed their breakfast before heading down to the beach for a few hours of relaxation. Both sisters got a lot of attention at the beach and as flattering as it was, they were not interested. A boyfriend was the last thing on Deanna’s mind and Megan only had eyes for a certain Divo. The girls returned to their room and had lunch before taking a nap.
They left the hotel at six pm and walked into The Old Town. It had a lot of restaurants and stores with all kinds of stuff. The two sisters found a restaurant called Romeo and after having a great dinner, they took another look at stores in The Old Town. Both sisters found a lot of stuff they wanted to buy but they still had time to do so. They walked back to the hotel and ended the evening in their room talking about Divos.

“How are you feeling, Séb?” David asked his brother.
“I feel like I’ve been hit by a car,” Séb replied.
“That’s not funny, Séb. You could have been killed,” David looked at him.
“I know. Sorry, David. Did they find out who drove the car?” Séb wanted to know.
“No, but we have an idea it was Lucy. The only problem is that we can’t prove it,” David answered.
“Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was her. She really hates me for dumping her,” Séb sighed.
“Don’t worry. I think Simon has got a plan to keep you safe. He is trying to get a bodyguard,” David told him.
“He must really care for me. So, I will have some guy follow me around no matter where I go? Well, guess I can live with that,” Séb smiled.
“You were lucky this time but next time you might not be so lucky,” David said.
“I know that. This is what you get for falling in love,” Séb looked out of the window.
“Lucy is crazy. Normal women do exist, Séb, and there is one for you out there,” David assured him.
“I know normal women exist, David. You and Urs have got two of them and I know there is one for me too but right now I don’t want another woman in my life,” Séb informed him.
Their chat was interrupted by a nurse who came in to check on Séb. She asked David to leave the room as she had to do a few tests. The nurse told Séb that the doctor would see him later and tell him about some of the previous test result. She left the room and David returned to continue their chat.
“So, how are things with you and Monique?” Séb asked David.
“Great! I was thinking of asking her to marry me,” David replied with a smile.
“Are you asking for my permission to ask her?” Séb looked at him.
“I guess so,” David said without looking at Séb.
“You don’t have to ask for my permission, David. I know you love my sister and if you want to marry her, then you have my blessing,” Séb told him.
“Thanks. Guess I can start planning the proposal now,” David flashed his smile.
As the guys were talking about ideas, Monique walked into the room. She walked over to Séb and hugged him before kissing David. They stayed for about half an hour before heading out to lunch. As soon as they were gone, Séb smiled to himself. His sister was no longer a little girl who needed him. She was a grown woman who would soon be marrying a great guy. He knew that David would never do anything to hurt his sister and he couldn’t think of a better man for Monique. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Séb woke up a few hours later when Simon came to see him. Simon told him about his friend in New York who would help with a bodyguard for Séb and Séb had no problem with it. Lucy was unpredictable and Séb would do whatever it took to stay safe. Carlos, Charlene and Urs joined them half an hour later and they were all happy to see Séb smiling again. Each of them hoped that it wouldn’t be necessary to hire a bodyguard but they all knew that Lucy wouldn’t leave him alone. She wouldn’t stop until one of them was dead.
“When will this bodyguard be here?” Séb asked Simon.
“I don’t know but you will not leave this hospital without protection. I have already spoken to the hospital and they will keep you here until your bodyguard arrives,” Simon told him.
“Great! Free food and a nice bed,” Séb said with a smile.
Charlene, Urs and Simon left the hospital an hour later, and Carlos decided to stay with Séb. He had no other plans for the evening and he didn’t want to intrude on the couples. They needed some private time and Carlos would only be in the way. The two single Divos had a great time talking and Carlos didn’t want to leave when visiting hours were over. Séb couldn’t stop smiling when Carlos managed to persuade one of the nurses to let him stay there for the night.
After saying goodbye to Charlene and Urs, Simon went home. He didn’t want to tell the guys that Séb’s new bodyguard could be a woman because he knew they would react the same way that he did. Simon wanted Séb to be safe and if the bodyguard was a woman, then he didn’t have a problem with that. He hoped that Johnny could convince her to take the job but he knew it was a big if.
David was standing by the window in his apartment, thinking about his conversation with Séb. He had to come up with an idea for the proposal but he didn’t want it to be a traditional proposal. Monique walked over to him and put her arms around him. He had been quiet since they left the hospital earlier and that was not like him. She knew he was worried about Séb and for a second she thought that was the reason but why would he react to it now that Séb was awake? It didn’t make any sense.
“Are you ok, David?” Monique asked.
“I’m fine, babe. Don’t worry about me,” David turned around to face her.
“Are you sure? You haven’t said much since we left the hospital,” Monique said with concern in her voice.
“I swear to you that I am fine. It’s just been a difficult time for all of us but things are looking better. Let’s hope that Simon finds a bodyguard for Séb. I don’t trust Lucy at all,” David kissed her.
“I don’t trust her either. I just don’t understand why she is trying to hurt my brother like that. She was the one who cheated on him and he did the right thing when he dumped her,” Monique walked away from the window.
“She is crazy, Monique,” David walked over to her and took her hand.
“I know she is. If I hadn’t introduced him to her, then none of this would have happened. It’s all my fault,” Monique looked at David with sadness in her eyes.
“It’s not your fault, babe. The only one who is to blame for this is Lucy, so stop blaming yourself,” David pulled her close.
“I know that but I still feel guilty,” Monique sighed as she looked at him.
“You shouldn’t feel guilty. You didn’t know that she was crazy when you introduced them,” David tried to calm her down.
“I guess you’re right. Thanks,” Monique smiled at him.
“Of course I am right,” David smiled back.
“Well, I don’t know about you but I’m tired,” Monique touched his face.
“So am I,” David picked her up and carried her into the bedroom.
The next morning
Séb was already awake when the nurse came in to check on him. She told him that the doctor would see him later to talk about moving him to another room as his test results had been fine. As soon as the nurse had left, Séb turned to look at Carlos who was still sleeping like a baby. Séb closed his eyes and thought back to the accident but he still couldn’t remember anything because everything happened so fast. He hoped that he would remember more soon because Lucy was still out there.
A few minutes later, Séb opened his eyes to see Lucy standing by his bed with a smile on her face. Séb was surprised to see her in his room because Simon had promised him that she wouldn’t get near him. Lucy just looked at him without saying anything and Séb didn’t like the look in her eyes. Just as Lucy took a step towards Séb, Carlos woke up and said her name. Lucy turned to look at him before leaving the room.
“We need to talk to Simon about this. I can’t believe that she just walked in here like that. You need that bodyguard now,” Carlos was angry.
“You’re right. Simon has to do something and fast,” Séb agreed.
“Do something about what?” David suddenly asked.
“Lucy was here. I don’t know what would have happened if Carlos hadn’t been here,” Séb told his friend.
“She was here? What happened to you being safe here?” David asked with anger in his voice.
“Only Simon knows that,” Séb replied.
“I will talk to him. Are you staying with Séb, David?” Carlos asked.
“Yes, I will stay here. We have to be here 24/7 now. You get out of here,” David looked at him.
Carlos said goodbye to his brothers and left the hospital. As soon as he was in his car, he took out his phone and called Simon. Simon was shocked to hear what Carlos had to say and he knew that he needed someone to be at the hospital with Séb 24/7. Carlos told him that they would take turns in staying with Séb but Simon wasn’t sure it would be enough. He wanted someone else to be there as well and he made a promise to send one someone to the hospital later.
After his conversation with Simon, Carlos drove home to relax. He couldn’t stop thinking about what would have happened if he hadn’t been at the hospital with Séb. The look in Lucy’s eyes had scared him and it would only be a matter of time before she tried to hurt Séb again. Whatever her plan was, they had to make sure that she couldn’t get near Séb.

Deanna and Megan were enjoying their vacation but Deanna knew she had to go back to New York and face her demons. It wasn’t that she didn’t love her job as bodyguard but she couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe she wasn’t good enough for the job. Yes, she was aware that there was nothing she could have done with three guys attacking at the same time but it didn’t change the fact that a girl was dead because of her.
“You look stunning,” Megan said as Deanna came out of the bathroom.
“Thanks, sis! You don’t look that bad yourself,” Deanna smiled at her.
“Are you ready to go out and have a great time?” Megan picked up her purse.
“Yes, I am. Thinking about what happened won’t bring the girl back, so let’s have some fun and enjoy our last evening here,” Deanna replied with a smile.
The two sisters left their apartment and they walked to their favorite restaurant. As soon as they showed up at the restaurant, the waiters were giving them a royal treatment. The waiters led them over to the table, pulled out the chairs and pushed them back in as they sat down. It was a bit embarrassing for the two sisters as the other guests were staring at them with evil looks. After placing their orders, the sisters talked about where to go after dinner.
They agreed on a bar called ‘Welcome to the 80’s’. They only played 80’s music and the sisters both loved 80’s music so it was just perfect. Megan and Deanna talked about how great their vacation had been and they had really enjoyed being together. They were both having busy lives in New York and it was hard for them to find time for a vacation. After finishing a nice dinner, they walked to the bar and ordered a drink. After spending about one hour at the bar, the girls went back to the hotel bar and spent the rest of the evening there.
The next morning, the sisters were enjoying their last breakfast in Greece. It was hard to believe that their two weeks of vacation had come to an end and it was now time to go back to New York. Megan looked at her sister and she knew that Deanna wasn’t happy about going back but Deanna couldn’t run away forever and she had to move on. After finishing their breakfast, they went to their rooms and packed their bags before going downstairs to check out. They had an hour before the bus would pick them up and take them to the airport, so they decided to do some last minute shopping.
Two hours later, Megan and Deanna were at the airport. As they were waiting to be called out to the gate, Megan took out her MP3 player and closed her eyes. Deanna couldn’t stop smiling as she watched Megan’s face. She always had a certain look on her face when she listened to the guys singing; especially when she heard Carlos’ voice. Deanna liked Il Divo too but Megan was the bigger fan.
Half an hour later, they girls had boarded the plane and they were on their way home. It had been a great vacation and they had a lot of nice memories.
Deanna and Megan arrived home safely and they didn’t feel like doing much. It had been a long trip from Greece and they just wanted to relax. As they were unpacking their suitcases, Deanna’s phone started ringing. She looked at the caller ID and she felt an anger burning inside of her. Why would Johnny call her today? Couldn't it wait until the next day? Letting out a sigh, she answered the phone.
“Welcome home, Deanna. I’m sorry to call you but I need to see you tomorrow morning. It’s important,” Johnny said, feeling bad about calling her.
“Guess it was a matter of time before I had to talk to you. I will be in your office at 9 am tomorrow. Can I enjoy the rest of my evening?” Deanna asked him.
“Yes, you can enjoy your evening. I will see you tomorrow. Tell Megan I said hi,” Johnny said to her before hanging up.
“Who was that?” Megan asked as she walked into Deanna’s room.
“That was Johnny. He wants to see me in the morning,” Deanna replied, putting down her phone.
“Well, you knew you couldn’t hide forever. I will come with you if you want. I’ve taken the day off,” Megan walked over to her.
“I’d like that. Now, let’s order some Chinese food and watch Il Divo. How does that sound?” Deanna asked her sister.
“I like the way you think, little sister,” Megan smiled at her.
The sisters walked into the living room and Deanna ordered the food while Megan found the DVDs. About half an hour later, Deanna and Megan were having a great time. Megan looked at Deanna and it seemed like Deanna had forgotten about the tragedy, at least for tonight. They spent the entire evening in front of the TV, watching Il Divo and chatting. Something they hadn’t done in a long time because of their hectic lives.
The next morning, Deanna and Megan were getting ready to leave the apartment. Deanna wasn’t looking forward to her meeting with Johnny but she knew that she had to talk to him. She knew he wouldn’t accept a resignation but she had to do what was best for her. He had no idea how it felt to lose someone you were trying to protect, so who was he to judge her? After locking up the apartment, they headed to Johnny’s office and Deanna wondered what would happen at that meeting.
“Good morning, Louise,” Deanna said as she walked into Johnny’s office with Megan.
“Good morning. Did you have a great time in Greece?” Louise asked with a smile.
“Yes, we did. We could have used a few more weeks there but real life called us back here,” Deanna said to her.
“You’ve been missed and it’s good to have you back,” Louise said.
“I’m not staying. My resignation is on Johnny’s desk,” Deanna told her.
“No, it’s not. Your resignation is in the trash can.” Johnny suddenly appeared.
“That’s ok. I’ve got a copy with me,” Deanna told him as she showed him a piece of paper.
“Hello, Megan. How are you?” Johnny asked, trying to change the subject.
“I’m fine. Two weeks in Greece was just what I needed,” Megan smiled.
“I’m glad you enjoyed your vacation. Now, I want to talk to your sister,” Johnny said before turning to Deanna.
“Let’s get this over with,” Deanna sighed and walked into his office.
Johnny followed her inside and asked her to take a seat. Deanna knew that no matter how many copies of her resignation she gave him, he wouldn’t accept it.
“So, let’s talk about your future with the company,” Johnny folded his hands in front of him.
“There is nothing to talk about. I don't have a future with this company, Johnny. I’m resigning and that’s it. The decision is final and nothing you say or do will make me change my mind,” Deanna firmly stated.
“You've made your decision and I have to accept that but I want to tell something and hopefully you will reconsider. Did I ever tell you why I started this company?” Johnny asked.
“No, you didn’t,” Deanna replied.
“Ten years ago, I worked as a bodyguard. I was protecting a business man who was being threatened by some bad guys. He was not an easy guy to protect because he didn’t listen to what I said. One evening, he had this idea about going out even though I told him it was a bad idea. We left the bar around midnight and as soon as we got into the street, we were attacked by two guys. One of them pulled out a gun and fired a shot and I did what I was supposed to do. I took the bullet and managed to shoot the guy before I stumbled to the ground. When I turned to look at the man I was protecting, I saw him on the ground in a pool of blood and the shooter just stood there, laughing. He was too busy feeling good about himself to notice that I was still alive, so I shot him too. The next thing I remember is waking up in the hospital, missing a leg. I was told that the bullet hit with such force that it shattered the bone and infection was setting in so it had to go,” Johnny explained.
Deanna was shocked to hear Johnny’s story. She knew he had an artificial leg but had no idea how he got it. She had lost the girl she was protecting but Johnny had lost more than just the person he was protecting, he had lost a part of himself.
“I'm sorry to hear that. I had no idea,” Deanna looked at him.
“When I found out that I had lost my leg, I wanted to die. I only thought of me; not the people who were happy that it was just a leg that I lost. It could have been so much worse. Not only had I lost someone I was trying to protect, I had lost a part of myself too. With help from family and friends, I managed to get through it and accept my destiny. I started this company and I love my job but I would give anything to be out there protecting people,” Johnny sighed.
“So, what you are saying is that I shouldn’t let this control my life?” Deanna looked at him.
“You’re 26 years old and you’ve lost one person in the last six years. You are the best bodyguard I’ve ever had and I’d hate to see you leave. You love being a bodyguard, Deanna. Don’t throw it away because of a 16 year old girl,” Johnny replied.
“Thanks for the compliment but I’m not sure I can do it anymore,” Deanna sighed.
“Well, I will make you a deal. I will tell you about your next assignment and if you don’t want the job, then you can quit. How does that sound?” Johnny looked at her.
“It sounds like a good deal,” Deanna responded with a smile.
“A friend of mine, Simon Cowell, called and asked me if he could borrow one of my bodyguards and I told him that I had to talk to you about it first,” Johnny smiled at her.
“Wait a second! Are we talking about the Simon Cowell?” Deanna asked.
“Yes, we are talking about him. Simon needs a good bodyguard and I’ve got the best one in the business,” Johnny answered with a smile.
“So, you want me to protect Simon?” Deanna questioned.
“No, he doesn’t need protection. One of the Divos does,” Johnny told her.
“Divos? Wait, like in Il Divo?” Deanna was shocked.
“Yes, one of the Divos needs protection and Simon wants the best bodyguard,” Johnny smiled, knowing that Deanna couldn't say no when she found out which Divo he was talking about.
“Which Divo are we talking about?” Deanna wanted to know.
“Sébastien. He dumped his girlfriend and she is trying to get revenge. Sébastien just woke up after two weeks in a coma after a hit and run. They can’t prove that she is behind it but they all know that she was driving the car. Sébastien needs protection until Lucy is caught. So, what do you say?” Johnny asked.
“That’s blackmail, Johnny. You know I like Il Divo," Deanna paused and walked over to the window.
"I know you like Il Divo and that's why I know you will say yes to the job," Johnny smiled.
"Can I think about it?” Deanna turned around and looked at him.
“You have until noon,” Johnny replied.
Deanna let out a sigh and walked to the door. Just as she was about to open it, she turned around and looked at Johnny.
“I’ll do it. Make the arrangements and call me when everything is ready,” Deanna said before walking out of his office.
As soon as Deanna was gone, Johnny looked at the copy of Deanna’s resignation before he tossed it into the trash can. He couldn’t wait to tell Simon the good news and he had no doubts that Deanna would do a good job in London. If he wasn’t sure that she could do the job, he wouldn’t have asked her.
On the way back to their apartment, Deanna informed Megan of her meeting with Johnny. Megan thought that Deanna was kidding when she said that she would be protecting Sébastien from Il Divo but why would her sister lie about something like that? Megan was excited about the new job and she couldn’t wait to join her sister in London. Yes, Deanna was the one who would be working there but as the older sister, Megan had to come with her and make sure that Deanna didn’t get herself into trouble. After all, she would be protecting Sébastien Izambard.
Later that day, Johnny called Deanna and told her that everything had been taken care of. The two sisters would leave New York two days later, and Simon had made all the arrangements. Deanna and Megan were thrilled about going to London and they knew they would have a good time, even though Deanna would have to work.
Two days later, they headed for London and a new life.

---- Séb’s apartment, London ----
Monique and David had picked up Séb at the hospital and he was now home in his own apartment. It felt good to be home but he knew that he wouldn’t be able to relax until he had the bodyguard with him. Urs, Charlene and Carlos joined them shortly after and all they could do was to wait for Simon to arrive with the bodyguard.
“I hate to leave you but my head hurts and I need some rest. When the bodyguard gets here, take him to my room,” Séb looked at Monique.
“I will do that. Is there anything you need?” Monique asked him.
“Not right now, sis. I will see you later,” Séb replied before leaving.
Monique watched him leave and it was hurting her to see Séb like this. The doctors had told him that he might experience some bad headaches for a while and Séb could live with that. It could have been worse and he knew that he had been lucky. Even though he didn’t believe in guardian angels and stuff like that, he felt that someone was watching over him.
Séb undressed and climbed into bed. As he drifted off to sleep, he wondered what his bodyguard would look like. His idea of a bodyguard was a muscular man with dark shades, an earpiece and a gun but that was not what he would see when Simon got there. He was in for a big surprise.
After Séb had left the living room, the others talked over a cup of coffee. The main subject was of course the bodyguard but they also talked about Lucy and her next move. As they were talking, a plane landed at Heathrow Airport and soon they would get a big surprise.
Deanna and Megan got off the plane and they couldn’t believe how great the weather was in London. It was a sunny and warm day and they couldn’t wait to get out of the airport. It had been a long flight from New York and they were both tired from the trip but the thought of meeting Íl Divo again made it all worth it.
They walked through the airport until they reached the baggage reclaim area. As they were waiting on the baggage to arrive, the two sisters talked about how much they were looking forward to starting a new life in a new city and a foreign country. To Deanna it was a welcoming change as it would help her get over the accident back in New York. Yes, it still haunted her but she knew that her feeling guilty wouldn’t bring the girl back and she had to let it go.
“You’re doing it again,” Megan looked at Deanna.
“Doing what?” Deanna asked.
“You’re thinking about the girl again. It’s time for you to let it go, Deanna. You have a new job, protecting one of the most handsome men in the world and you can’t stay stuck in the past,” Megan replied.
“Don’t you ever get tired of being right?” Deanna asked.
“No, I don’t,” Megan replied with a smile.
Deanna didn’t say anymore after that. They got their baggage and left the airport. Outside of the airport, they noticed a man holding a sign with their names on it and they walked over to him. The man introduced himself as Terry Williams and as he put their baggage in the trunk, he told them that Simon wanted to see them at his house before they would meet the Divos. Deanna and Megan looked at each other with smiles on their faces and they couldn’t believe that they would meet the Divos off stage. They climbed into the car and soon after, they were on their way to meet Simon Cowell and the four most handsome men in the world.
Terry stopped the car in front of Simon’s house and the girls got out of the car. As they reached the door, they were met by Simon’s PA, Sandy Morrison, and she told them that Simon was waiting for them in his office. Sandy asked them to follow her to Simon’s office and she asked them to sit down while she would announce their arrival. A few seconds later, Sandy returned and told them that Simon was ready to meet them. The girls walked into Simon’s office and he greeted both of them before asking them to take a seat.
“I’m glad you decided to take the job, Miss Kendall,” Simon told her.
“Please, call me Deanna,” she smiled at him.
“Ok, Deanna. I don’t know how much Johnny has told you about the situation,” Simon looked at her.
“He told me that Sébastien had just woken up after spending two weeks in a coma. You believe his ex is the one behind the hit and run but you can’t prove it. And you need me to keep him safe,” Deanna told him what she knew.
“That is the situation. We, the guys and I, are convinced that she is responsible but we don’t know how to prove it. She is really good and we’re afraid she won’t stop until Séb is out of the way for good,” Simon explained.
“My job is to protect him and I will do that. I give you my word,” Deanna promised.
“Good. Before we leave, there is something you should know. The guys don’t know that you’re a woman and you might get a few comments from them,” Simon said.
“Well, it’s not the first time that someone has made comments about that,” Deanna laughed.
“Then I suggest that we go see the guys now. They are at Séb’s place. Follow me,” Simon led the way.
They got into the car and drove off to meet the Divos. Deanna and Megan had met the guys before at a Meet and Greet in New York during the last tour but this was different because they would be off stage. It would be nice to see them in their own environment and talk to them as normal people. Ten minutes later, the car pulled up in front of a white building and Terry stopped the car. After getting out of the car, Simon and the girls walked inside the building and just as they were about to go to Séb’s apartment, Megan got a phone call. She told Deanna and Simon to go ahead and she would join them soon.
Simon and Deanna continued to Séb’s apartment and once there, Simon rang the doorbell and they waited for someone to open the door. Monique opened the door and the look on her face told Deanna that she was not expecting a woman. After a few seconds, Monique stepped aside and let them in. Simon kissed her cheeks and introduced her to Deanna.
“I’m so glad you decided to come and it’s a pleasure to meet you. Séb is my brother and I want him to be safe,” Monique looked at Deanna.
“I won’t let anything happen to him. I promise you that,” Deanna smiled.
“Come with me,” Monique led the way into the living room.
A strange silence spread throughout the room when Simon and Deanna walked into the living room. The guys just stared at them and even though Deanna was prepared for a reaction like that, it made her feel uncomfortable.
“I want you to meet Deanna Kendall who will be Séb’s bodyguard until Lucy is behind bars,” Simon told them.
“She is a woman,” David pointed out.
“She sure is,” Carlos’ eyes scanned her body.
“I know she is a woman and she is Séb’s bodyguard. I didn’t tell you about it because I knew you would react like this,” Simon glanced at David.
“Well, if that’s how a bodyguard looks now, then I want one too. Maybe you can protect me too?” Carlos smiled at her.
“I’m here to protect Sébastien and if you try anything, then I will take you down,” Deanna told him.
When David heard those words, he started laughing. The look on Carlos’ face was priceless and the others laughed too. As they were laughing, Megan walked into the room and Carlos’ eyes immediately fell on her. She was just as beautiful as Deanna and Carlos thought he had seen her somewhere before but he could not figure out where.
“Allow me to introduce you to Megan Kendall, Deanna’s older sister,” Simon introduced her.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Carlos smiled at her.
“We have already met. On your last tour,” Megan reminded him.
“I remember now. The Meet & Greet in New York,” Carlos said.
“That’s right. My sister and I were both there,” Megan told him.
“Where is Séb?” Simon interrupted the conversation.
“He is not feeling well. He has got a headache again,” Monique sighed.
“Maybe we should do this when he is feeling better,” Deanna suggested.
“No, it’s ok. He told me that he wanted to talk to you when you got here. I will take you to him,” Monique said.
Deanna followed her down the hall to Séb’s bedroom and Deanna felt her heart beating faster. She wasn’t nervous about meeting Séb but she was nervous about being in his bedroom. A lot of Siren’s would envy her if they knew. Monique knocked on the door to Séb’s bedroom before entering. She walked over to his bed and woke him up while Deanna was standing outside the room. A few seconds later, Monique returned and told Deanna to go inside. Deanna entered the bedroom, closing the door behind her.
“Are you my bodyguard?” Séb asked as he gestured for her to come closer.
“Yes, I am. I know you were expecting a man and if you don’t want me here, I will leave,” Deanna replied as she held out her hand to him.
“I don’t really care if you’re a man or a woman as long as you can protect me,” Séb kissed her hand.
“I can protect you and I will. It’s my job,” Deanna smiled at him.
“Have we met before?” Séb asked her.
“At a Meet and Greet in New York on your last tour,” Deanna answered.
“I remember that. You wore a black skirt and a purple blouse,” Séb smiled.
“You’ve got a good memory,” Deanna was surprised to hear him say that.
“I always remember beautiful women,” he winked at her.
“Thank you. Is there anything you want to know?” Deanna asked.
“Are you single?” he replied with a question.
“Yes, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the job,” Deanna reminded him.
“You’re right but it’s good to know. I would like to get some sleep if you don’t mind. Monique can show you to your bedroom,” Séb told her.
“Ok. I will talk to you later,” Deanna said and left the room.
She stayed in the hallway for a few minutes to gather her thoughts. Deanna closed her eyes and she knew this would be a challenge. Well, Divo or not, she would do her job and not let any feelings stand in the way.

After gathering her thoughts, Deanna walked back to the living room and joined them at the table. She told them about her conversation with Séb and they were all pleased to hear that he didn’t have a problem with her being a woman. Monique poured her a cup of coffee and she informed Deanna of what to expect from a woman like Lucy. Deanna couldn’t believe that Lucy had lost control like that over being dumped, especially since it was her own fault. How could anyone cheat on a man like Séb? That was a big mystery to her.
“Well, I can imagine that you’re tired from your trip and we should let you rest. Follow me and I will show you to your rooms,” Monique smiled.
“We need to talk about that. I don’t want Megan here,” Deanna told her.
“What do you mean?” Simon asked.
“My job is to protect Séb and that is what I will do. This Lucy knows where he lives and if she shows up here, my sister will be in danger and I won’t allow that. You need to find another place for her to stay,” Deanna replied.
“She can stay with me if she wants. I do have a spare bedroom she can use,” Carlos spoke up.
“I accept your offer,” Megan smiled.
“Great. It will be great having a roommate,” Carlos wiggled his eyebrows.
“I have something to say before you leave. I want to see all of you at my house tomorrow for dinner at 7 pm and don’t be late,” Simon looked at them.
Urs, Charlene and Simon left the apartment while Megan said goodbye to Deanna. As soon as Carlos and Megan had left, Monique showed Deanna to her room and gave her a quick tour of the apartment before joining David again in the living room.
“Are you ready to leave?” David asked Monique.
“Yes, I think we’ve covered it all,” Monique replied, looking at Deanna.
“Yes, we have. I will just ask your brother if I have any questions,” Deanna smiled at her.
“My brother is in good hands with you,” Monique hugged Deanna.
“I won’t let anything happen to him. You have my word,” Deanna promised.
David and Monique left the apartment and Deanna closed the door and locked it before walking to her bedroom to unpack. When she had finished unpacking, she walked into the bathroom to take a shower. It had been a long flight and she felt dirty. She turned on the water and undressed as she waited for the water to heat up the tiles. As she stepped into the shower, it suddenly dawned on her that she was in Sébastien Izambard’s bathroom, having a shower. If someone had told her that someday she would be showering in Sébastien’s bathroom, she would have called them crazy but here she was.
While Deanna was showering, Séb woke up and put on some pants before leaving his bedroom. He walked down the hall but stopped when he heard Deanna singing in the bathroom. She was singing one of their songs and she actually had a really good voice. When he heard the water being turned off, he walked into the kitchen to make a sandwich for Deanna as he thought she might be hungry after her trip. As he waited for her to join him in the kitchen, he wondered what made a girl like Deanna risk her own life to keep people like him safe.
Deanna came out of the bathroom, wearing a top and a pair of shorts and walked to her bedroom before going into the kitchen. When she saw Séb in the kitchen, she regretted not putting something else on but Séb didn’t mind. As he stared at her, he wondered if she was carrying a gun because he couldn’t imagine where she would hide a gun in that outfit.
“I thought you might be hungry,” Séb smiled, still wondering about the gun.
“Thanks,” Deanna smiled back as she reached behind her back before putting the gun on the table.
“Where did you hide that?” Séb pointed at the gun.
“In my shorts,” Deanna replied with a smile.
‘Lucky shorts’ Séb thought to himself as he looked at her. He couldn’t believe how beautiful she was and he was looking forward to getting to know her better. Yes, she was there to keep him safe but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be friends or date. Or did it?
“Why did you decide to become a bodyguard?” Séb asked as he sat down.
“My dad was a New York cop and one of the best too. Even when he was off duty, he couldn’t really let go of the job and it got him killed. It’s been 20 years but I still remember it like it was yesterday. Our mom and dad wanted a night out alone and they had asked the neighbors to watch us. It was just around midnight when I woke up to the sound of the doorbell and I thought it was mom and dad. I woke up Megan and we both ran downstairs, expecting to see our parents but we were met by two of dad’s colleagues. They informed us that mom and dad had been killed in a robbery,” Deanna said.
“What happened?” Séb wasn’t sure if he should ask that question.
“They were walking home when my dad noticed a robbery in progress at a drugstore and he told my mom to stay outside while he checked it out. He was wrestling one of the robbers when the gun went off. As my dad went down, he managed to remove the mask from the robber’s face. As the two robbers left the drugstore, they ran into my mom and since she could recognize the robber who had shot my dad, they shot her too. I decided that I would become a cop and continue what my dad was doing. After a few years, I learned about a guy who was looking for bodyguards and I decided to contact him and here I am,” Deanna looked at him.
“I’m sorry to hear about your parents,” Séb looked at her.
“Thanks, Séb,” Deanna smiled.
“Can I get you something to drink?” he walked over to the fridge.
“Some water would be nice,” Deanna replied.
“Here you are,” Séb handed her a bottle of water.
“Thanks,” Deanna took the bottle.
“You’re welcome. Let’s go into the living room,” Séb suggested.
Deanna nodded her head in agreement and they walked into the living room to talk more.
Carlos and Megan had arrived at his place and he was showing her around. His place wasn’t what she had expected at all but it was a very nice place and she instantly felt at home.
“What do you think?” Carlos asked her as he put down her suitcases.
“I love it. I can definitely see myself living here,” Megan replied as she looked around her room.
“I’m glad you feel that way. Do you want something to eat or drink?” Carlos asked.
“A sandwich would be nice and a coke,” Megan replied with a smile.
“I will take care of that and you can make yourself comfortable,” Carlos said before leaving the room.
Megan watched him leave and she couldn’t believe that she was in Carlos Marin’s apartment. With a smile on her face, she unpacked her suitcases before changing into more comfortable clothes. She freshened up a bit before joining Carlos in the kitchen. He was singing and Megan watched him closely as he was busy making sandwiches.
“Is there anything I can do?” Megan asked him.
“No, everything is ready. Follow me,” Carlos looked to her.
Megan followed him into the dining room and Carlos pulled out a chair for her. Megan sat down and Carlos sat down across from her.
“Tell me about Megan Kendall,” Carlos took a sip of his coke.
“Well, I’m 28 years old and Deanna’s older sister. Our parents died when we were 6 and 8, and we spent 10 years in foster care with a family who didn’t show any interest in us,” Megan sighed.
“Didn’t you complain?” Carlos was shocked to hear her story.
“Yes, we did but it didn’t help. Our “parents” made sure it seemed like we were the perfect family when someone came to check up on us. Deanna needed someone to take care of her and I became that person. When I was 18, I moved out of the house but had to leave Deanna behind and I still feel bad about that,” Megan replied with sadness in her eyes.
“There was nothing you could do,” Carlos took her hand.
“I could have saved her from a lot of pain. About two weeks after I moved out, Deanna showed up at my place in the middle of the night with bruises on her face. I took her to the hospital and it turned out that she had bruises on her body too and two broken ribs. Deanna spent a few days in the hospital and then I brought her home to live with me,” Megan told him.
“You’re a great sister. Deanna is lucky to have you,” Carlos smiled.
“If I was a great sister, then I wouldn’t have left her behind,” Megan sipped her coke.
“You were 18, Megan. I’m sure Deanna doesn’t blame you for leaving her behind,” Carlos looked at her.
“No, she doesn’t blame me. I just blame myself,” Megan let out a sigh.
“Well, you shouldn’t. What do you do for a living?” Carlos wanted to know.
“I’m an artist. I paint and draw portraits,” Megan replied with a smile.
“Oh, maybe you can paint my portrait someday,” Carlos wiggled his eyebrows.
“I’d be glad to. I’ve already made a drawing of you,” Megan told him.
“Can I see it?” Carlos asked.
“Normally I don’t show off my work until it’s done but since you’re asking,” Megan left the dining room and walked into her bedroom to pick up her drawings.
She returned a few minutes later and sat down next to Carlos. She opened her folder and took out some of her drawings and paintings and showed them to Carlos.
“That is Deanna and us,” Carlos picked up one of the drawings.
“Yes, it’s from our Meet & Greet in New York on your last tour. It’s a birthday present for her,” Megan told him.
“This is really good,” Carlos looked at her.
“Thanks. This is one I drew of you after the Meet & Greet,” Megan showed him a drawing.
“I look really handsome in this one,” Carlos smiled.
“Well, you are handsome,” Megan agreed.
Carlos didn’t say anything. He looked at the drawings and paintings in front of him and he was impressed by Megan’s work. Not only was she beautiful but she was also very talented. As he looked at Megan telling him about her work, he couldn’t stop thinking about having his portrait painted by her.
“Do you only paint after pictures or do you use people too?” Carlos was curious to know.
“I do both. A picture is easier to work with because it doesn’t move. I tried to paint a friend’s son once but I had to stop because he simply couldn’t sit still,” Megan answered with a big smile.
“Well, if you want to paint my portrait, I promise you that I will sit still,” Carlos smiled back at her.
“I will think about that,” Megan avoided looking at him.
“Are you a Siren?” Carlos asked as he found a painting of Séb.
“No, I’m not a Siren. I made that for Deanna for her birthday last year but she didn’t want it. She is trying to convince me that she is not a Siren but I know better. I’ve decided to keep it because eventually she will admit to being a Siren,” Megan replied.
“Well, I don’t think you have to wait too long for that. She will be spending 24/7 with Séb and she won’t be able to resist his charm. Trust me,” Carlos assured her.
“You’re wrong about that, Carlos. I know my sister and she won’t get involved with a man she is trying to protect,” Megan disagreed.
“Maybe you’re right. Do you want some coffee?” Carlos asked.
“Coffee sounds good,” Megan replied.
They cleared the table and walked into the kitchen to get some coffee. Both Megan and Carlos felt really comfortable around each other and they could talk about anything.

"I don't understand why you want me to spend the day with Frances," Monique looked at David.
"Well, I just thought you deserve to have a good time with Frances. Ever since Séb was hospitalized, you haven't seen Frances," David said.
"Why can't I just have a good time with you," Monique smiled at him.
"If you do this, I promise you that we will have a good time later," David kissed her.
"What is going on, Dave?" Monique asked.
"Nothing is going on. I just want you to have a good time with your best friend," David replied.
"I don't believe you but I will do as you ask because I love you," Monique smiled.
"I will see you later tonight. Have a great time, babe," David said.
"Thanks, Dave. I love you," Monique kissed him before getting out of the car.
As soon as Monique had disappeared, David drove off. He only had six hours to get everything ready for the big night, the night that would show Monique how much he loved her. David stopped the car in front of their apartment building and he couldn't wait to see Monique's face when he would ask her to marry him. Once he was inside of the apartment, he grabbed a coke from the fridge before pulling out his laptop.
After downloading a few things and making a few phone calls, he closed the laptop and leaned back on the couch. He knew that it wouldn't be the proposal that Monique had always wanted but it was different and he hoped that she would love it anyway. David finished the coke and got off the couch. He picked up his keys and left the apartment to pick up the things he needed for the proposal.
Back at Séb’s apartment, things were going well for Deanna and Séb. They seemed really comfortable around each other and to Deanna that was important because it would make her job easier if she could get along with her client. Her mind drifted back to one of her former clients who ignored everything she said because she was a woman and she had to ask Johnny to find a new bodyguard for the guy because she had enough.
“Tell me about the man behind the Divo, the real Sébastien Izambard,” Deanna sipped her water.
“Personal interest?” Séb winked at her.
”No, professional interest. I need to know everything about the person I am protecting,” Deanna replied.
Séb told her everything she needed to know and Deanna couldn’t believe how much they had in common. She paid close attention to every detail he gave her and it would really help her in her job. Deanna watched him as he continued to give her the information she had asked for and it was nice to see a different side to the French Divo.
“I know you might not want to talk about Lucy but I need to know what happened between you and why she hates you so much,” Deanna looked at him.
“Monique introduced us 6 years ago and I fell head over heels in love with her. She was different from the girls I had dated before and I really thought that I had found the woman of my dreams. Lucy knew about me being in Il Divo and she didn’t seem to have a problem with it. I asked her to join me on the tour because it would give us some time together and she agreed to it even though she hated the idea of living out of a suitcase. Everything was fine between us and I was ready to take our relationship to a new level by proposing but I never got that far. The Divo schedule was busy at the time and I hardly had a chance to be with Lucy and she wasn’t pleased about that. She came to the studio one day when we were recording and she wasn’t in a good mood. We went into another room and she started yelling about how she should come first because she was my girlfriend. Yes, I agree there should be a balance between work and personal life but without me, there wouldn’t be an Il Divo and I couldn’t let the guys down. We finished recording earlier than planned and I went home to spend some time with Lucy but I found her in bed with another man. I told her to get out of my apartment and my life,” Séb explained.
“And now she wants to hurt you for dumping her after she cheated on you?” Deanna wanted to make sure that she had gotten that right.
“Yes, it seems like it,” Séb rose from the couch and walked over to the window.
“I’m sorry but I had to know what happened. She sounds like she will do anything to get her revenge,” Deanna joined him by the window.
“I know and you’re right. She will do anything to get back at me for dumping her,” Séb turned to look at Deanna.
“I’m here to make sure Lucy doesn’t get what she wants and I won’t let her hurt you,” Deanna promised him.
“Thanks, Deanna. I have confidence in you,” Séb smiled.
“Thanks. That means a lot to hear you say that. This might be inappropriate but do you have a picture of her?” questioned Deanna as she walked back to the couch.
“No, I don’t have any pictures left. I burned all of them after I had kicked her out,” Séb joined her on the couch.
“That’s ok. I have a feeling she will show up soon and I will see her then,” Deanna told him.
“You really think she will show up?” Séb looked at her.
“You’re still breathing and that means you haven’t seen the last of her. She failed on her first attempt and she will be back. My job is to make sure that she fails on her next attempt too,” Deanna answered his question.
“I think we’ve talked enough about Lucy. What do you want for dinner?” Séb changed the subject.
“Chinese or Italian but I really don’t feel like going out to dinner. It has been a long day,” Deanna yawned.
“I want Chinese too and since I haven’t fully recovered, I don’t want to go out either. Speaking of going out, do you wear a suit or normal clothes?” Séb was curious to know.
“Why do you ask that?” Deanna wondered.
“When I think of a bodyguard, I imagine this bald bodybuilder type in a suit with sunglasses,” Séb looked at her.
“Oh, I see. You have been watching way too many movies but no, I don’t wear a suit. If I wear a suit when I am working, people can tell that I am a bodyguard and I prefer to look like everyone else. So, if I have to follow you to an award show, a TV performance or dinner at a restaurant, I will be wearing an outfit to match the event,” Deanna explained.
“Sounds like a good idea. I just have one question. If you wear a dress, then where do you keep your gun?” Séb asked as images of Deanna wearing a short dress entered his mind.
“I will let you wonder about that while I take a nap. The trip was exhausting and I’m tired. I will see you at dinner, Sébastien,” Deanna smiled at him before leaving the living room.
Séb watched her leave and he had a smile on his face. His mind was working on over time to figure out where she would be hiding a gun when she was working. He knew where she would keep a gun when wearing pants but he couldn’t imagine where she would hide it when wearing a dress. Well, he would find out soon enough or at least he hoped so. Séb’s headache was returning and he too decided to rest before dinner.
In another part of London, Lucy was alone in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, Gordon. They had met a week before Lucy cheated on Séb and Gordon was the guy she had cheated on Séb with. She didn’t love Gordon but he was there for her when she demanded him to be and he didn’t seem to have a problem with that. He was at her beckon call and she felt good about that because she could control him.
Lucy was planning her next attempt to hurt Sébastien and she thought it would be easy to get to him because it had been easy for her to walk into the hospital and straight into Séb's room. Lucy didn’t want Séb to die but she wanted him to suffer for dumping her without any reason. Yes, she did cheat on him but it was to make him see that other men wanted her and didn’t have a problem with spending time with her. She knew that the guys had told Simon about her visiting Séb at the hospital and Simon would be watching over Séb. He couldn’t let one of his precious Divos be unattended.
Lucy thought it would be better to stay out of the way for a few days and make them think that she had given up on hurting Séb. She took a sip of her wine as she looked at a picture of her and Séb together and she thought back to the day it was taken. It was a warn summer day and Séb had taken her on a picnic on their second date and it had been perfect. They ended the date by having their picture taken together and it was the only picture she had kept.
She finished her wine and looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost time for Gordon to come home and she didn’t want him to know what she was planning. He would think that she was a nutcase and there was no need to ruin the image he had of her. In Gordon’s eyes, Lucy was an amazing woman and he would do anything for her. She took the picture and walked into the bedroom where she put it in her jewelry box before returning to the living room. As she poured herself another glass of wine, she heard the door open and close before Gordon appeared in the doorway.
He walked over to her and kissed her before he walked into the bathroom for a shower. As soon as he was gone, Lucy walked over to the window and looked at London. Only a few more days and she would meet Séb face to face again.
“I can’t wait to see you again, dear Sébbie,” she said to herself as a wicked smile appeared on her face.

Charlene and Urs arrived at the Dawson mansion outside of London. It was the residence of Charlene’s parents and it had been in the family for generations. She loved coming home because the place had so much history and it felt like the bricks were telling the stories of her ancestors. Urs loved the mansion just as much as she did and one day the mansion would belong to them. He knew that it would be a while before they would take over the mansion but he already knew what to do with it. Urs pulled up in front of the mansion and stopped the car. They got out of the car and Urs walked to the trunk to get their bags. He locked the car and joined Charlene by the front door of the mansion.
“You look a little nervous,” Charlene remarked.
“Well, you would be too if you were in my shoes. Your dad wants us to have a serious talk and I have a really bad feeling about that. We both know that I am not the kind of son-in-law he wants,” Urs looked at her.
“I know but you are the kind of man I want. He wants me to be happy and he knows that you make me happy. That is to your advantage,” Charlene kissed his cheek.
“You might be right. Shall we?” Urs asked, taking her hand.
Charlene opened the door and they walked inside where they were met by the house butler, Alistair. He greeted them and told them that Charlene’s parents were waiting in the garden. Charlene thanked him and Alistair took their bags to Charlene’s old room as Urs and Charlene made their way to the garden.
“We’re here,” Charlene announced.
“We thought you had forgotten about us,” Dorothy said as she hugged both of them.
“No, we just had some things to take care of,” Charlene told her.
“Come here, darling,” Stanley held out his arms to Charlene.
“Hello, dad,” Charlene hugged him.
“Urs,” Stanley looked at him.
“Stanley,” Urs greeted him with a nod.
Charlene and Dorothy looked at each other and shook their heads. Urs had been a part of the family for three years and Dorothy never had any problems with him dating her daughter. Charlene was happy and that was all that mattered, at least from Dorothy’s point of view.
“Do you want to freshen up before we get something to drink?” Dorothy looked at them.
“That sounds like a good idea,” Charlene replied.
Urs agreed and they both walked back into the house as Dorothy turned and glanced at Stanley with a look that could kill. He knew what she wanted to say and he understood why but Charlene was his only daughter and he only wanted what was best for her. Stanley had always hoped that his daughter would someday marry a doctor or a lawyer and when she had introduced them to a simple singer, he saw his dream shatter into over a million pieces. That was three years ago and he had witnessed how much Urs loved his daughter and he hoped that Urs would like what he had to say when it was time for them to have their talk.
“You don’t have to say it, Dot. I know what’s on your mind,” Stanley walked over to her.
“Good. Then I won’t have to tell you,” Dorothy looked at him.
Stanley kissed her and he put his arm around her as they walked into the house to get drinks and snacks.
Over at Carlos’ apartment, Megan had just woken up after a much needed nap. She had been sleeping like a baby and she had the most wonderful dream about Carlos. Letting out a sigh, Megan got out of bed and walked into the bathroom for a nice, warm shower. Half an hour later, she walked into the living room and called out for Carlos but he wasn’t there. She walked into the kitchen to get something to drink and she found a note next to the stove.
In case you woke up while I was gone, I left you this message so you wouldn’t worry about me. I’ve gone out to do some shopping for dinner tonight.
Megan smiled as she put down the note and walked over to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. She went into her bedroom to pick up her laptop before she returned to the living room. Megan wanted to check her email and she hoped there would be an email regarding an art studio in London. Her eyes scanned the emails and it was there, the email she had been waiting for. She took a deep breath before opening the email. As she read the email, her smile just kept getting bigger and she picked up her phone and dialed the number in the email. After being on the phone for a few minutes, she hung up and closed her laptop. She couldn’t wait to see the studio the next day and she hoped that Deanna could come with her. She picked up her phone again and dialed Deanna’s number.
Deanna was sleeping when her phone started ringing. She groaned as she picked up the phone and looked at the caller ID.
“Hey,” Deanna answered the phone.
“Are you ok, sis?” Megan asked, thinking Deanna sounded a bit weird.
“I was sleeping. What’s up?” Deanna sat up.
“Remember the art studio I wanted in London? Well, I just made an appointment to see it tomorrow and I really want you to come with me. Please,” Megan pleaded.
“I have to bring Séb with me,” Deanna pointed out.
“That’s fine with me. Why don’t we meet for breakfast here at 9 am?” Megan asked.
“Sounds good to me but is it ok with Carlos?” Deanna rose from the bed.
“Well, I haven’t talked to him about it. He is not here but I don’t think it will be a problem,” Megan replied, hoping it would be ok.
The two sisters talked for a few more minutes before hanging up. Just as Megan put down her phone, Carlos walked into the apartment with groceries. He put them down on the counter and began to put them away as Megan joined him.
“What’s for dinner?” she asked him.
“Carlos Marin’s Seafood Paella,” Carlos replied with a smile.
“That sounds yummy. I love seafood,” Megan told him.
“I know. You mentioned it at the Meet & Greet,” Carlos surprised her by saying.
“That’s right. I did mention it. You really do have a good memory. Oh, I’ve invited Séb and Deanna for breakfast tomorrow. I hope you don’t mind?” Megan looked at him.
“I don’t mind at all,” Carlos assured her.
“I’m going to check out a studio tomorrow and if I get it, I will have a place to work,” Megan informed him.
“Great. I hope you get it so you can start working on my picture,” Carlos smiled.
“Do you need any help with dinner?” Megan changed the subject.
“No, I’m fine,” Carlos replied.
“Ok, then I will leave you alone and I can’t wait to taste your paella,” Megan turned and walked into the living room.
“Honey, I’m home,” Monique called out when she closed the door.
“Hi, baby. I’ve missed you,” David walked into the hall and kissed her.
“You look very handsome, Mr. Miller. What’s the occasion?” Monique wondered why he was all dressed up.
“Well, I’ve prepared a nice dinner for us. You have ten minutes to get ready,” David flashed his smile.
“That sounds great. I will be right back,” Monique kissed him before disappearing.
As soon as she was gone, David walked into the dining room to make sure that everything looked perfect for his special dinner. When he was sure that he had covered everything, he walked into the kitchen and finished with the food. As he put the last food on the table, Monique walked into the dining room and she looked stunning.
“Wow. You look amazing, baby,” David let his eyes scan her body and he couldn’t wait to finish dinner.
“Thank you, Dave,” Monique blushed.
“Dinner is served, Miss Izambard,” David walked over to her and took her hand.
He led her over to the table and pulled out a chair. As soon as she was seated, David took a seat across from her and Monique wondered why he had put a lot of effort into this dinner. She could tell by the look on his face that he was up to something but she just had to wait and see what was on the American’s mind. They both had a love for sushi and David had ordered all of Monique’s favorite sushi dishes.
After they had finished their food, David stood and cleared the table. He walked into the kitchen with the dishes and put them away before he picked up the fortune cookies. As he walked back to the dining room, he was a bit nervous but he tried to hide it as he sat down.
“I love fortune cookies,” Monique smiled and opened hers.
She took out the note and read what it said. As she raised her head to look at David, a tear was running down her cheek and she tried to speak but she couldn’t. Too many emotions were running through her and she wiped the tear away as she took a deep breath. She closed her eyes briefly and opened them to see David still sitting across from her, waiting for her answer.
“Yes, David Miller, I will marry you,” Monique said through her tears.
David got off the chair and walked over to her where he kneeled down in front of her as he pulled out a ring. He took the ring and placed it on her finger before he wiped her tears away. David got up and pulled Monique with him. He took her in his arms and kissed her softly on the lips.
“I love you, Monique,” David whispered in her ear.
“I love you too, David. Please, make love to me,” Monique whispered back.
David didn’t need to hear those words twice. He blew out the candles and led Monique into the bedroom where he began to unzip her dress as he kissed her neck. He had been waiting for this moment ever since she walked into the dining room. Monique returned the kisses as she unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it off his shoulders. Soon after they were celebrating their engagement and they continued to share their passion until the early morning.
At the Dawson mansion, Stanley had asked Urs to join him in the library for a private conversation. Urs wasn’t thrilled about having a conversation with Stanley but he knew it was needed. Stanley gestured for Urs to take a seat and Urs did as he requested.
“I wanted to talk to you about your relationship with my daughter. I’ve always hoped that Charlene would marry a doctor or a lawyer but it’s time for me to accept that you are the man my daughter loves. I’ve seen the way you look at her and I know that you love her very much. It has taken me three years to realize that you are the right man for my daughter and I hope you can forgive me for my behavior towards you,” Stanley explained his feelings.
“Apology accepted. I do love Charlene very much and I would like to ask for your permission to propose to her,” Urs looked at Stanley who had a smile on his face.
“You have my permission but I do have one request,” Stanley opened a drawer in his desk.
“And that is?” Urs asked.
“That you use this as an engagement ring. It belonged to my mother and she wanted me to give it to Charlene,” Stanley showed him a ring.
“The ring is perfect and I’m sure Charlene will love it. Thank you,” Urs took the ring.
“You’re welcome. I think it’s time for some coffee,” Stanley said.
Urs nodded his head in agreement and the two men walked back to Dorothy and Charlene.
At Séb’s apartment, the dishes had been put away and they were enjoying a cup of coffee in the living room. It had been a good day for Deanna but she knew that soon it would all change. Lucy was still out there and Séb was still in danger. It was almost midnight when Deanna said goodnight and disappeared into her bedroom. Séb took the cups to the sink and went to bed too. He undressed and climbed into bed, thinking of the beautiful bodyguard sleeping in the other room.
In Deanna’s bedroom things were not going that well. She was tossing and turning in bed because of the dream that had been haunting her ever since the girl died. Deanna was back at the crime scene and she turned to see the girl lying on the ground with her back to Deanna, fighting for her life. As usual Deanna rushed over to the girl and pulled her into her arms but this time something was different. The person dying in Deanna’s arms was not the young girl.
“Nooooooooooooo,” Deanna screamed as she woke up.

Séb woke up when he heard Deanna screaming and he quickly got out of bed and ran into her room where he found her curled up into a ball. She was covered in sweat and tears were streaming down her face. He wanted to comfort her but he wasn’t sure if he should. Would it be wrong of him to do it? How would she react? No, he couldn’t stand to see her like that and he walked over to her bed, sat down and pulled her into his arms. When she didn’t try to pull away, he began to stroke her hair as he whispered words of comfort.
As Séb held her close, he wondered what could have upset her that much. His first thought was that the dream was about Megan but it seemed to run deeper than that. Maybe it had to do with her job somehow but she was a professional bodyguard and she should be able to put all bad experiences behind her. At least that is what he thought. After about ten minutes Deanna had calmed down and Séb let go of her.
“It sounded really bad. Do you want to talk about it?” Séb asked her as he wiped her tears away.
Deanna looked at him and she wasn’t sure what to tell him. She couldn’t tell him the truth but she could tell him about what happened with the girl and hopefully he would accept that. Deanna took a deep breath and told him what happened that night when a 16 year old girl died in her arms. As she spoke, Séb watched her closely and he could see in her eyes that it was still affecting her.
“I’m sorry to hear about the girl dying but it wasn’t your fault. She even told you that,” Séb pointed out to her as he glanced into her eyes.
“I know but the memories won’t go away,” Deanna looked at him.
“They will. Just give it time,” Séb smiled at her.
“I hope so. Thanks,” Deanna said with a smile.
“Are you sure you’re ok?” Séb asked with concern in his voice.
“I’m fine but would you mind staying here until I’ve fallen asleep again?” Deanna questioned as she lay down.
“Not at all,” Séb responded as he lay down next to her.
Deanna had her back to him and there was a small gap between them. Séb wanted to close that gap but he knew it would be inappropriate to do so. He couldn’t say why but holding Deanna in his arms seemed right and he felt a need that he hadn’t felt for a long time; in fact he had never felt such a need before. ‘Forget it, Séb. It’s not going to happen. She is here to protect you, not to fall in love with you’ Séb thought to himself. Suddenly he saw Deanna move and before he knew it, she had closed the gap between them. Séb wasn’t sure if it was an invitation for him to hold her but it couldn’t hurt to try. He slowly placed his arm around her waist and when she didn’t tell him to remove the arm, he just kept it there. Séb closed his eyes and inhaled the sweet scent of roses that clung to her hair as he slowly drifted off to sleep.
‘What the hell are you doing, Deanna? Have you forgotten your own rule about getting involved with a client? It’s the first rule on your list and the most important rule too. What will happen when the job is done and you go back to New York? Nothing good will come of this. You can’t do a great job if you are worried about losing the man you love. Wait a second! The man she loved? Where did that come from? She wasn’t in love with him but she had to admit that he was very attractive. He was a client, nothing more’ a voice inside of her head said.
The voice was right. Séb was a client but there was nothing to worry about. What he did was an act of kindness, nothing more and why would he fall for her? A woman who risked her life to save strangers? What kind of man would want a woman like that? Deanna let out a yawn and slowly drifted off to sleep.
It was almost seven am when Séb began to stir but something wasn’t right. It was like something or someone was lying on his chest and he opened his eyes to see Deanna resting her head on his chest. ‘This is not good at all. I was supposed to go to my own room when she was asleep. What would she think? Maybe I can sneak out of the room without her noticing. Well, it couldn’t hurt to try’ he thought as he gently removed her hand from his chest.
“What time is it?” Deanna suddenly asked, letting out a yawn.
“It’s seven am,” Séb replied without looking at her.
Deanna could tell that he felt really uncomfortable about the situation and it made her smile. He looked like a little kid who didn’t know what to do or say and she thought it was so adorable. Without saying a word, Séb rose from the bed and walked out of Deanna’s room, closing the door behind him. Deanna watched him leave and she didn’t know what was going on. She knew he was uncomfortable with the situation but she never expected that kind of reaction from him. Letting out a sigh, Deanna rose from the bed and walked to the bathroom for her shower. They had to be at Carlos’ place at nine am for breakfast but maybe it was a bad idea.
When Deanna came into the living room, Séb was watching the news. He didn’t say anything when Deanna sat down on the couch and he didn’t even look at her. Deanna wanted to say something but she decided against it as it would probably ruin the entire day. After half an hour without a word, Deanna had enough and she walked to her room and took out her laptop. She had time to read her emails before they had to leave. One email came from Johnny who wanted to know how things were going. Deanna wrote a reply and she had just sent it when there was a knock on the door.
“It’s time to leave,” Séb’s voice said through the door.
“Fine,” Deanna sneered back.
She closed her laptop and left her room. Séb was waiting for her by the door and Deanna put on her coat and followed him downstairs. Carlos lived nearby and that’s why Séb suggested that they walked to Carlos’ place. Deanna didn’t have a problem with it and she paid close attention to the people in the street because she had no idea what Lucy looked like and she didn’t want to lose Séb on her first day as his bodyguard. They didn’t talk at all as they walked to Carlos’ apartment and Deanna was getting annoyed but she didn’t want Séb to see it.
Carlos and Megan had just finished making breakfast when the doorbell rang. Megan opened the door and she could tell that something wasn’t right between Séb and Deanna but she knew Deanna well enough to know that she wouldn’t let it ruin the breakfast. She greeted both of them and showed them into the dining room where Carlos was waiting. He greeted both of them and gestured for them to sit down as Megan poured coffee.
During breakfast, they talked about the upcoming events for Il Divo but Séb and Deanna hardly said one word to each other. Megan looked at Carlos, then at Séb and Deanna and Carlos knew what she was thinking. They had to find out what was going on with the two of them and Megan asked Deanna to join her in her bedroom. Deanna reluctantly got up and followed Megan to her bedroom. Deanna knew what it was all about and she just hoped that it would be over with soon.
Megan wanted to know everything and Deanna had no other choice but to tell her everything. Megan listened as Deanna told her everything that had happened from she woke up in the middle of the night until they arrived at Carlos’ place.
“Are you going to tell Séb that he was the one in the dream?” questioned Megan as she looked at Deanna.
“No, I’m not. He thinks it’s the girl and I want to keep it that way,” Deanna answered.
“That’s fine but what are you going to do about the other thing?” Megan asked.
“I will call Johnny and ask him to send a replacement. I can’t protect a person who doesn’t want to talk to me.” Deanna explained, surprising Megan.
“Wait a second. You want to quit? You can’t do that, Deanna. Séb needs you,” Megan said, staring at her.
“He doesn’t need me, Meg. He needs a bodyguard and I’m sure Johnny will send a new bodyguard if I ask him to,” Deanna informed her.
“I won’t let you quit and Johnny won’t allow it either. You should talk to Séb and work this out. Find out what he is upset about,” Megan suggested.
“And how am I supposed to do that? He doesn’t want to talk to me,” Deanna reminded her.
“Leave that to me. Stay here,” Megan said with a smile as she walked towards the door.
In the dining room Carlos and Séb were having the same conversation and Carlos couldn’t understand why Séb had walked out without a word. Nothing had happened and Deanna hadn’t been angry or anything, so why was Séb being a jerk? Séb couldn’t tell him what had made him react like that because he didn’t know himself. They were talking when Megan came out of her room.
“Where’s Deanna?” Carlos asked as she closed the door.
“She is calling her boss,” Megan replied as she took a seat.
“Why is she calling her boss?” Séb enquired, looking at Megan.
“Oh, she is just asking for someone to replace her as your bodyguard,” Megan responded, not really paying any attention to him.
Séb stared at Megan and he couldn’t believe what she had just told him. He wanted Deanna as his bodyguard, not some bodybuilder type. Somehow it made him feel more comfortable having a bodyguard that didn’t look like a bodyguard but he couldn’t explain why. No, there was no way that he would allow Deanna to leave. She was his bodyguard and it was Deanna or no bodyguard. Séb walked into Megan’s bedroom and found Deanna on the bed, talking to someone on the phone.
“I will call you back, Johnny,” Deanna said and hung up the phone.
“You won’t call him back. You’re my bodyguard and you’re not leaving,” Séb ordered, looking at her.
“Did you just give me an order?” Deanna questioned, getting off the bed.
“Yes, I did. I don’t want another bodyguard,” Séb answered as he folded his arms across his chest.
“I can’t be a bodyguard to someone who doesn’t want to talk to me,” Deanna said, glancing at him.
“Ok, I’m sorry for not talking to you this morning but I freaked out when I woke up in your bed,” Séb explained, hoping she would understand.
“Why did you freak out? Nothing happened,” Deanna reminded him.
“I know nothing happened but I can’t explain why I freaked out. All I know is that I want you as my bodyguard, so please reconsider,” Séb begged, getting down on his knees.
“I will stay as your bodyguard,” Deanna decided after seeing him on his knees.
“Thank you,” Séb said, getting up from the floor.
They walked out of the room and Deanna winked at Megan who smiled back at her. The plan had worked and Megan felt good as she stood to clear the table. Half an hour later they left the apartment and walked to the studio. Megan was excited about the studio and she couldn’t wait to see it. She had a studio in New York but it had been a part of her apartment and she had always wanted a studio where people could walk in from the street.
“This is it,” Megan beamed as they stopped in front of a building.
“It looks great,” Deanna smiled, looking through the window.
“Let’s check it out on the inside,” Carlos suggested as he opened the door.
They entered the studio and were met by a woman who introduced herself as Andrea Mills and she told them that she was the woman Megan had been communication with. Andrea showed them around the studio and it was the perfect place for Megan to work. It had three rooms in three different sizes, a small kitchen, a storage room and a small bathroom. It had everything and it was easy to see that Megan loved the place. They all went into the kitchen to get something to drink and Megan informed Andrea that she had made her decision and she definitely wanted the place.
Half an hour later, Andrea said goodbye and left the studio, leaving Megan and her friends alone. Andrea knew that she shouldn’t give the key to Megan until the paper work had been done but she had a good feeling about Megan. Carlos and Séb watched the girls as they made plans for the studio. They talked about colors, furniture and decorations and it only took about ten minutes to figure everything out. Megan felt good when she locked the door to the studio.
“Why don’t we celebrate by having lunch at the diner around the corner?” Carlos suggested.
“Am I invited too?” a female voice suddenly asked.
“What are you doing here, Lucy?” Séb angrily asked.
“I just wanted to say hello. Who are these two lovely ladies?” Lucy questioned, looking at Deanna and Megan with disgust.
“This is Deanna Kendall, my new PA and her sister, Megan,” Séb lied, hoping Lucy would believe him.
“Why are you walking around town with your PA when you’re on a break?” Lucy demanded to know.
“They just arrived yesterday and Simon asked us to be tour guides,” Séb answered, rather annoyed.
“Oh, that makes sense. Guess I will be seeing you around then,” Lucy said before leaving.
“Not if I can help it,” Deanna mumbled to herself as she watched Lucy leave.
Lucy was angry as she walked down the street. Séb had been lying to her about that girl being the PA because she knew that they would never fire Caitlin. She had been their PA since the beginning and she was too good to be replaced by a girl like Deanna. Lucy swore to herself that she would find out who Deanna was and she knew just the person to tell her. A wicked smile appeared on her face as she took out her phone and dialed a number.
“Caitlin Matthews,” the voice on the other end answered.

“I don’t like that Lucy person,” Megan spoke her mind as they were having lunch.
“I don’t like her either and she didn’t believe that I was your PA,” Deanna said as she looked at Sébastien.
“What makes you say that?” Séb asked her, taking a bite of his sandwich.
“The look in her eyes told me that. She will do whatever she can to find out who I am,” Deanna replied as she sipped her soda.
“Deanna is good at that. She can read faces and it’s actually scary and annoying sometimes. She is a walking lie detector,” Megan explained.
“That sounds interesting. You can actually see if people are telling the truth or lying?” Carlos asked her.
“Yes, I can but I don’t use it much. Only when I am working, not in private,” Deanna told him.
“That’s not true. You’ve done it a lot of times on me,” Megan reminded her sister.
“Yes, but you always told me the truth because you knew that I would find out if you were lying,” Deanna smiled at her.
Megan didn’t say anything and both Carlos and Séb were laughing at the two sisters. It was funny to see how the two of them were arguing without snapping at each other like most people would when arguing. Deanna and Megan looked at each other then turned to Carlos and Séb before bursting out in laughter. After spending a few hours having lunch, they went sightseeing in London. Carlos suggested that they went on one of The Original Tour sightseeing buses and everyone agreed to that. It was the most popular way to go sightseeing in London and all you had to do was get on a bus, get off when you found something you wanted to see and then wait for the next bus to arrive.
As the drove through London, Deanna noticed the attraction between Carlos and Megan and she could tell that Carlos wasn’t playing games with her sister. He seemed really interested in Megan and she knew that Carlos would be good for Megan but it would mean that she had to go back to New York alone when her job as Séb’s bodyguard was done.
“Are you still with us?” Séb suddenly asked, pulling her back to the world.
“I’m sorry, Sébastien. I was just thinking,” Deanna replied with a smile.
“It’s ok. It happens to me too sometimes and mostly on stage,” he smiled back.
“Is that why you forget your lines?” Deanna asked him.
“I never really thought of that but it might be the reason,” Séb said, looking at her.
Deanna hated the affect he had on her because she was there to work, not to fall in love. Ok, that was too late because she was already there but she had to control those feelings until the job was done. She didn’t want to put Séb in danger and she would do that by getting involved with him because she wouldn’t be able to protect him if feelings were involved. It might sound strange to some people but that is how she felt.
After the tour, they said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. They wanted to relax a little before they had to be at Simon’s place for dinner. Séb and Deanna returned to Séb’s apartment and Séb made a cup of coffee for them while Deanna changed her clothes. She returned to the kitchen and sat down as Séb brought her a mug of coffee. Their hands touched when she took the mug and Séb looked at her in the same way as he did earlier that day.
“I should probably check my emails. I will see you later,” Deanna excused herself and disappeared into her bedroom.
She took out her laptop and opened it but her mind was elsewhere. This would be her biggest challenge as a bodyguard but she was determined to do her best to keep this man safe. Deanna took a sip of her coffee and forced herself to check her emails before she closed the computer. She grabbed the mug and walked into the living room to look for Séb but he wasn’t there.
“Séb?” she called out but there was no answer.
She kept calling his name but there was still no answer. Suddenly she heard the bathroom door open and Séb appeared in the doorway with a smile on his face.
“You called for me?” he questioned as he sat down on the couch.
“Yes, I did. How am I supposed to protect you if I don’t know where you are?” Deanna replied with a question.
“We are alone in my apartment. Nothing will happen here unless you try to hurt me,” Séb replied, winking at her.
“You would like that, wouldn’t you?” Deanna surprised herself by asking.
“Actually, yes I would,” Séb smiled as he rose from the couch.
Deanna regretted saying that as Séb walked over to her with a smile on his face. She had only one choice and she started to walk backwards until she hit the wall. Séb kept coming closer and Deanna wondered how to get out of this mess. He stopped right in front of her and raised his hand to touch her cheek but Deanna grabbed his hand and stopped him.
“Don’t do that,” she said to him.
“Why not? Are you afraid you might like it?” he asked her.
“I am here to do a job and you should respect that,” Deanna responded, walking away from him.
“I do respect that, Deanna. I was just kidding,” Séb lied, forgetting that she could read his face.
“No, you were not kidding,” Deanna said as she sat down.
“You’re right. I wasn’t kidding but I do respect that you’re my bodyguard. Can I ask you something?” Séb said as he sat down next to her.
“What’s on your mind?” Deanna asked him.
“If you hadn’t been my bodyguard, would you have given us a chance?” Séb asked truthfully.
“I can’t answer that question. We’ve only known each other for 24 hours,” Deanna reminded him.
“That’s true. At least you’re being honest. I want to get some rest before dinner,” Séb said and disappeared into the bedroom.
Deanna watched him leave and as soon as he was gone, she walked into her own room to get some rest. The look on his face haunted her and she hoped for Séb that Lucy would be out of his life soon. But was it just for Séb’s sake or was it for her own sake too?
“Hello Caitlin, Lucy speaking. I really need to talk to you,” Lucy said, hoping Caitlin wouldn’t hang up.
“I don’t have anything to say to you,” Caitlin snapped at her and hung up.
“Guess I have to pay you a visit then,” Lucy said to herself as she put her phone away.
Lucy hailed a cab and soon after she was on her way to see Caitlin to talk about Deanna and who she was. It was obvious that she wasn’t a PA but Lucy still couldn’t figure out who or what she was. After paying the cab driver, Lucy got out and walked up to Caitlin’s door. She knocked and shortly after Caitlin opened the door and she wasn’t happy to see Lucy.
“What are you doing here?” Caitlin asked, rather annoyed by Lucy’s presence.
“I need to talk to you about your position as PA,” Lucy stepped forward, forcing Caitlin to go back inside.
“Why is my job as PA important to you?” Caitlin looked at Lucy with anger in her eyes.
“I saw Séb today with some chick that he claimed was his new PA but I know that they would never fire you, so who is Deanna?” Lucy sat down, waiting for an answer.
“Since the Divos have a busy schedule, Simon decided to hire one more PA and Deanna is that girl. She takes care of Carlos and Sébastien while I take care of Urs and David,” Caitlin explained the situation.
“You are such a bad liar, Caitlin. Tell me the truth and I will leave you alone,” Lucy got up and walked towards Caitlin.
“I am telling you the truth,” Caitlin tried to convince Lucy that Deanna was a PA.
“For the last time, who is Deanna?” Lucy asked as she opened her purse and pulled out a pocket knife.
“Deanna is the new PA and you don’t want to do that,” Caitlin looked at the knife in Lucy’s hand.
“Yes, I do unless you decide to tell me the truth,” Lucy raised her voice as she held the knife against Caitlin’s throat.
“Deanna is the new PA for Carlos and Sébastien,” Caitlin repeated.
“Stop lying to me, Caitlin!” Lucy said and moved the knife to Caitlin’s stomach.
Suddenly Lucy felt something warm on her hand and she pulled back to see the bloody knife in her hand and she watched as Caitlin collapsed on the floor. Lucy panicked and ran out of the apartment, leaving Caitlin on the floor.
David and Monique were still in bed when David’s phone started ringing. Letting out a groan he picked it up and answered it. He listened as Simon filled him in on what had happened to Caitlin and needless to say that David was shocked. Simon told him that he would go to the hospital now and he asked David to inform the other guys about Caitlin. David agreed and after hanging up, he called the other Divos to tell them about his conversation with Simon.
He hung up the phone and looked at Monique who had tears in her eyes. Caitlin was a dear friend but Monique couldn’t stop thinking about Séb and what Lucy would do to him next. She knew that Deanna would take care of Séb and protect him with her own life but it didn’t stop her from worrying about her brother. David pulled her into his arms and told her that everything would be alright as he leaned back against the pillow. Monique knew that David was right but she didn’t trust Lucy at all and it would only be a matter of time before she would try to hurt Séb again.
Deanna came out of her room and she saw Séb standing by the window in the living room, looking out into the street. She called out his name but when he didn’t react, she walked over to him and stood next to him. When he turned to look at her, she saw that he had tears in his eyes and it made her feel uncomfortable. She wasn’t used to seeing a man with tears in his eyes and she didn’t know what to do. Should she walk away or should she try to comfort him? She didn’t have the answer to that question but it couldn’t hurt to ask what was wrong.
“What happened?” Deanna asked.
“Our PA is in the hospital. Lucy tried to gain information from Caitlin about you and when Caitlin refused, Lucy stabbed her in the stomach,” Séb replied, struggling to get the words out.
“I’m so sorry to hear that. Is Caitlin alright?” Deanna enquired, touching his arm.
“I don’t know. She is in surgery right now but we will know more tonight,” Séb answered, looking at Deanna.
“I’m sure she will be fine,” Deanna said.
“Caitlin is in the hospital because of me. If I hadn’t lied to Lucy about you being my PA, Caitlin would be at home,” Séb explained.
“Listen to me. This is not your fault. Lucy is the person responsible, not you,” Deanna tried to explain.
“I know she is the one who hurt Caitlin but,” Séb started to say but was interrupted by Deanna.
“No buts. You are not to blame and I am sure that Caitlin won’t blame you either. Sit down and I will make you a cup of tea,” Deanna firmly stated.
Séb did as she said and he watched her closely as she disappeared into the kitchen. Deanna was waiting for the water to boil when she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around to see Séb standing there and once again she didn’t know what to do. As she reached for the tea, Séb took her hand and kissed it.
“What was that for?” she asked, staring into his eyes.
“For being here for me,” he responded, kissing her hand again.
“Your tea is ready,” Deanna told him.
“I don’t want tea,” Séb whispered as he moved his head closer to hers.

After stabbing Caitlin, Lucy went home to clean off the blood on her hands and she barged into the apartment, slamming the door behind her. She knew she had to move fast because Caitlin wasn’t unconscious when she had left the apartment and she would probably inform the police or Simon. She didn’t notice that Gordon was home and she ran straight into the bathroom to wash her bloody hands. Gordon sneaked into the hallway and watched as Lucy cleaned off the blood.
“What have you done?” Gordon asked, surprising her.
“I went to see Caitlin,” Lucy replied coldly.
“Did something happen over there since you have blood on your hands?” Gordon questioned, standing in the doorway.
“I don’t have to answer that,” Lucy sneered.
“What did you do to Caitlin?” Gordon asked, walking over to her.
“Nothing she didn’t deserve,” Lucy replied with an evil grin.
“Tell me what you did to her,” Gordon demanded as he grabbed her arm.
“I stabbed her with a knife and I hope she dies. Now get out of my sight,” Lucy yelled, pushing Gordon out of her way.
Lucy went into the bedroom and opened a bag that was hidden in the back of the closet. She took something out of the bag and closed the closet before she walked to the living room. As she entered the living room, her boyfriend was at his desk, making a phone call and Lucy had no doubts that he was calling the police. She had to stop him from making that call.
“I wouldn’t do that, Gordon,” Lucy said.
“Someone has to turn you in and I doubt that you will do it yourself,” Gordon said as he turned around to look at her.
“Put the phone down now,” Lucy demanded, pulling out a gun.
“What are you doing, Lucy? Put that gun away,” Gordon pleaded, staring straight at the gun.
“No. Put the phone down,” Lucy repeated, walking over to him.
Gordon did as she requested and put down his phone. He was terrified but he didn’t want her to know about his fears. Lucy stopped right in front of him and she held the gun to his head as she smiled at him.
“Use these and cuff yourself up to the chair,” she ordered, handing him some handcuffs.
Gordon did as she ordered and Lucy took a few steps back. She looked at him sitting there and she couldn’t believe how easy it had been to manipulate him. Lucy turned to leave but stopped when she heard Gordon’s voice.
“You’re not going to hurt me, are you?” he asked.
“I don’t know yet but you know that I am capable of doing it. After all, I hurt Séb and Caitlin so it wouldn’t be too hard to hurt you too,” Lucy answered, picking up her bags.
“Where are you going?” Gordon questioned as she walked away.
“I don’t know yet. I think I will go into hiding for a while. Everyone will be looking for me but I am not the one they will see,” Lucy replied, looking at him.
“Don’t do this,” Gordon told her.
“You are really getting on my nerves, Gordon,” Lucy angrily said, pointing the gun at Gordon.
She pulled the trigger and laughed as she made her way to the door. Once she was in the street, she got into her car and drove off.
In the hospital, Simon was waiting for news about Caitlin. She was still in surgery and he really hoped that she would be ok. He felt responsible because he had told Caitlin and the guys what to say if Lucy started asking questions and now Caitlin was in the hospital. Simon was restless and he kept looking at his watch but it felt like time stood still.
He returned to his seat and stared into the wall, hoping that the doctor would bring him some kind of info on his PA. After about half an hour, Dr. Henderson approached him and Simon got up, hoping for good news.
“How is she doing?” he asked Dr. Henderson.
“The surgery went well and she was very lucky. I think you will be able to see her in about ten minutes or so,” Dr. Henderson replied.
“Thank you,” Simon smiled.
Dr. Henderson smiled back and left. Simon let out a sigh of relief as he picked up his phone and dialed David’s number. They talked for about five minutes and as Simon hung up, his phone started ringing. He looked at the caller ID and let out a groan before answering.
“What do you want?” Simon asked, rather annoyed.
“I have some information for you. Please come to my apartment as soon as possible,” the voice on the other end said.
“I will be there after I’ve checked on Caitlin. Goodbye,” Simon hung up the phone.
Dr. Henderson returned and took Simon to see Caitlin who was still sleeping. Simon walked over to the bed and sat down as Dr. Henderson left the room. He took Caitlin’s hand and promised her that he would do whatever he could to make Lucy pay for what she had done. After spending some time with Caitlin, Simon left and drove off to see the person who had called him earlier.
Séb’s lips made contact with Deanna’s and for a brief moment, Deanna let him kiss her but she finally managed to push him away.
“I’m sorry but I can’t do this,” Deanna said, looking at him.
“Tell me that you didn’t feel anything in that kiss. Tell me that you don’t have any feelings for me,” Séb looked at her with a hurt look on his face.
“I refuse to discuss my feelings with you. You are my client, nothing more. My job is to protect you and for me to do my best, I can’t let personal feelings get in the way. If you can’t accept that, then we should find you another bodyguard,” Deanna firmly stated.
Séb didn’t say anything after that. He could understand what she was saying but he had been thinking about her since they met at the Meet & Greet on their last tour and now she was here with him. Maybe it was because of Lucy that he had been taken with Deanna back then. Séb knew that he had to accept Deanna’s decision if he wanted to keep her in his life but it wouldn’t be easy.
“You win. I won’t try to kiss you again,” Séb promised as he looked at her.
“Thanks,” Deanna smiled.
Séb took his tea and walked into the living room where he sat down in front of his laptop. He wanted to check his emails before he had to get ready for dinner at Simon’s house. Deanna disappeared into her bedroom and looked at herself in the mirror as she touched her lips where Séb had kissed her. She couldn’t deny that the kiss was amazing and she couldn’t deny that she had feelings for him but this just wasn’t the right time.
Letting out a sigh, Deanna grabbed some underwear from her closet before she walked into the bathroom to have a shower. As she showered she thought of what her life would have looked like if she had stayed in New York and she didn’t like what she saw. She knew that she had made the right decision about coming to London. Deanna finished her shower and dried herself off before putting on some clothes. She wrapped a towel around her hair and walked into the living room where Séb had just finished reading his mails. As he looked at her, he knew this would be a big challenge but he would be strong and keep his promise to her. He smiled at her before he got up and disappeared into his room. It was time for him to get ready for dinner too.
Meanwhile Simon had arrived at his destination and he got out of the car and locked it before he walked into the building in front of him. He went into the building and walked to the second floor where he knocked on the door to an apartment. A voice yelled at him to come in and Simon did as the voice said. Closing the door behind him Simon made his way into the living room where he found Gordon handcuffed to a chair.
“What happened to you?” Simon asked, trying to hide a smile.
“Lucy happened. She came home and told me that she had stabbed Caitlin and then she threatened me with a gun. Before she left, she told me that she is the one who tried to hurt Séb,” Gordon answered.
“I don’t see any reason why I should believe you. You might have done this to yourself,” Simon looked at him.
“Please, get me out of here. I swear on my mother’s grave that I am telling you the truth, Simon,” Gordon looked at him with pleading eyes.
“In that case I have to believe you. Do you have any tools?” Simon enquired.
“In the closet in the hallway,” Gordon answered.
Simon went into the hallway and found the toolbox. He returned to the living room and shortly after Gordon was free of the handcuffs. Gordon thanked him and offered him something to drink. Simon accepted and Gordon walked into the kitchen, returning a few minutes later with two beers. They talked about Caitlin and Simon was curious to know where Lucy was but Gordon had to tell him that he didn’t know.
After spending half an hour at Gordon’s apartment, Simon said goodbye and drove home. As soon as Simon was gone, Gordon took a shower and changed his clothes before leaving the apartment. He couldn’t figure out why but he wanted to see Caitlin. Gordon got into his car and drove to the hospital, hoping that Caitlin would want to see him.
Wearing a wig and sunglasses, Lucy arrived at a hotel in London and checked in as Laurene Murray. The girl at the reception asked for ID and Lucy showed her the fake ID she had. After getting the key, Lucy walked to her room and took off the wig. She opened her bag and took out some hair dye and a pair of scissors before going into the bathroom. After cutting some of her hair off, she dyed it pitch black and then took out her box with the colored contact lenses.
“Nobody will recognize you,” Lucy said to herself as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.
With an evil smile on her face, she picked up her purse and left the hotel room.
That evening all of the Divos and the girls were having dinner at Simon’s place, unaware that Lucy or Laurene was planning her next move. She knew that the Divos would be attending a formal in a few weeks and it would be the perfect opportunity to get rid of Séb once and for all. Soon she would have her revenge and she couldn't wait.

While the guys and the girls were having dinner at Simon’s place, Gordon had finally worked up the courage to visit Caitlin. He wanted to go earlier in the day but he had been too afraid to visit her because he knew that he wasn’t Caitlin’s favorite person and he couldn’t really blame her for that. Gordon walked into the hospital where he walked over to a nurse.
“Hello, I am here to see Caitlin Matthews,” Gordon told the nurse.
“Are you related to her?” the nurse asked, surprising him.
“I’m her boyfriend and I couldn’t get here earlier,” Gordon lied.
“She is in room 25. Down the hall and last room on the right,” the nurse said with a smile.
“Thank you,” Gordon smiled back.
Gordon walked down the hall to Caitlin’s room and he wasn’t sure of how she would react to him being there. It wouldn’t surprise him at all if she asked him to leave because he had been a real jerk when they were together. He opened the door and walked into Caitlin’s room to find her sleeping peacefully and at that moment he fell in love with her all over again. Gordon walked over to the bed and took her hand as he sat down. He just sat there looking at her, wondering how he could have cheated on her with Lucy.
He didn’t blame Caitlin for dumping him because he had done something that didn’t only affect one person but two as Séb had also gotten hurt. Gordon was mad at himself for letting Lucy seduce him, especially because he really did love Caitlin very much. As he watched her sleeping, he wondered if she would ever be able to forgive him for what he had done. They had so many dreams and he hoped that someday those dreams would come true. Suddenly Caitlin opened her eyes and turned to look at him.
“What are you doing here?” Caitlin asked.
“I came to see you. Lucy told me what she did to you and I just had to come,” Gordon replied.
“Well, you’ve been here now so I think you should leave. I’m really tired and I need some sleep,” Caitlin said, closing her eyes.
“I will be here again tomorrow to check on you,” Gordon told her as he got up.
“Don’t bother,” Caitlin snapped.
“You can hate me all you want, Caitlin but I still love you,” Gordon said before leaving the room.
As soon as he was gone, Caitlin closed her eyes and images from her time with Gordon flashed before her eyes. They did have some good times together and they had made plans to move in together but those plans were destroyed by Lucy and Gordon. Caitlin couldn’t deny that she still loved Gordon but she couldn’t forgive him for cheating on her, at least not at the moment. Just as she was about to drift off to sleep, the doctor came to check on her and he left a few minutes later. Caitlin closed her eyes and Gordon’s face appeared before her eyes. She tried to get the image out her head but it was useless. He was stuck and he wouldn’t go away.
At Simon’s place dinner was going well but Deanna wasn’t enjoying herself. She excused herself and walked outside to take a walk and get some fresh air. Séb watched as Deanna walked out of the door and he wanted to follow her but he had to keep his distance. Megan had noticed Séb looking at her sister and she was curious to find out what was going on between them. She asked Séb if they could talk alone and Séb nodded his head in agreement. The two of them left the dining room and walked into the living room, closing the sliding doors that separated the two rooms.
“What is going on with you and my sister?” Megan asked, sitting down.
“Nothing is going on,” Séb said, letting out a sigh.
“But you want something to happen, don’t you?” she questioned, already knowing the answer.
“I won’t lie to you, Megan. Yes, I want something to happen and I took the first step when I kissed her but I’m just a client and Deanna doesn’t want to get involved with a client,” Séb admitted.
“Well, you should let her do her job and then when Lucy is out of your life, you can make another move,” Megan suggested.
“I don’t know,” Séb surprised her by saying.
“Well, I know that you love her. It is written all over your face when you look at her and she loves you too. Just be patient,” Megan told him.
“Deanna doesn’t love me,” Séb stated, looking at Megan.
“I’ve known Deanna for 26 years and believe me, she loves you. Now you go back to the others and I will find my sister,” Megan smiled at him.
Séb walked back to the dining room and Megan walked outside to look for Deanna. She found her sitting on a bench in the garden and Megan walked over to her. Deanna looked up and she knew by the look on Megan’s face that she wanted to talk.
“It’s not easy, is it?” Megan asked as she sat down next to her sister.
“What are you talking about?” Deanna looked at Megan.
“I am talking about you, Séb and your feelings. He told me about the kiss,” Megan told her.
“It was nothing. I don’t have any feelings for him. Séb is a client and that’s all,” Deanna explained, knowing that Megan wouldn’t believe her.
“Sis, you may be good at telling if people are lying but you are a bad liar. Even if you don’t want to admit it, you have feelings for Séb but I understand why you can’t get involved with him,” Megan took her hand.
“Good. This conversation is over,” Deanna said.
They walked back to the house and when they entered the dining room, Monique and David were talking about their wedding. David had been surprised when Monique had told him that she wanted to get married in Denver instead of Paris but he didn’t have any objections. They had been looking for venues in Colorado and they had found one that would be perfect.
“What colors did you have in mind?” Charlene asked.
“We have been talking about dark blue and white,” Monique replied, looking at David who nodded his head in agreement.
“Sounds perfect to me,” Deanna smiled.
“It will be but there is a problem with the bridesmaids. I don’t have any sisters and all of my friends in Paris are married so I don’t want to ask them to come. I want to ask you girls to be my bridesmaids,” Monique looked at them, biting her lip.
“I think I speak for all of us when I say that we would be honored,” Charlene said as she looked at Deanna and Megan.
“Charlene is right. Of course we will be your bridesmaids,” Megan told her.
“Thank you. It means a lot to me,” Monique said with a smile.
“And I have chosen Séb as my best man because he is my friend and also Monique’s brother. The rest of you will be my groomsmen,” David explained to the guys.
“I’d be honored to be your best man,” Séb told him.
“Great. Now we just have to find a suit, dresses and flowers and we don’t have a lot of time because we want to get married before the tour,” David looked at his friends.
“Well, you have all of us to help you,” Charlene smiled.
“I will help as much as possible but it might be difficult as I have to watch Sébastien all the time and I am not sure he wants to listen to us talk about dresses and flowers,” Deanna looked at Séb.
“We will work something out. Hopefully I won’t need protection much longer,” Séb told Deanna, knowing it did not sound right.
Deanna didn’t say anything but Megan could tell that her sister didn’t like Séb’s comment. Megan watched as Séb and Deanna glanced at each other and she couldn’t wait until Lucy was behind bars. It would make life a lot easier for both Séb and Deanna if she wasn’t around and Megan wanted to see her sister happy. She would gladly put Lucy in jail herself and throw away the key if it meant that Deanna could be happy with Séb.
Simon told them that coffee was served outside and they all joined him. The girls continued to talk about the upcoming wedding while the guys and Simon were talking about how to get Lucy out of Séb’s life forever. They didn’t really have any ideas but they knew something had to be done soon because next time she might go after one of the other Divos or maybe even Deanna.
As they were talking, a car pulled up in front of the house and Gordon got out. He walked to the door and rang the doorbell, unaware that the Divos were there. The door was opened by Harry who was Simon’s butler and he greeted Gordon with a handshake.
“Is he here?” Gordon asked as he stepped inside.
“He is in the garden with his guests,” Harry answered, closing the door.
“Well, I don’t want to disturb but I really need to see him,” Gordon explained.
“Go ahead. It’s just the Divos and the girls,” Harry informed him.
“All four Divos?” Gordon questioned Harry.
“Yes, all four Divos are here along with the girls,” Harry smiled at him.
Gordon smiled back but he wasn’t happy about going into the garden, especially not with Séb around. He knew that Séb wouldn’t be pleased to see him because of what had happened with Lucy but it would be a lot worse if he knew about Gordon’s connection to Simon. Gordon took a deep breath before he walked towards the garden where Simon was with his guests.
“Good evening. I hope I’m not disturbing you,” Gordon said as he walked into the garden.
“You!” Séb said, glancing at Gordon with anger in his eyes.
The temperature dropped rapidly as the two men looked at each other. Simon knew that hell was about to break lose and he had to do something to prevent it. He didn’t need this right now on top of everything else. What was he supposed to do?

”I hope I am not interrupting anything,” Gordon broke the silence.
“No, you’re not. Take a seat,” Simon told him, looking at Séb.
“Guess that is my cue to leave. Thanks a lot Simon,” Séb said as he got up.
“Sit down Sébastien!” Simon said with anger in his voice.
“Not in this lifetime, Simon. I refuse to be at the same table as that man,” Sébastien snapped.
“You don’t want to be at the same table because he is or was dating Lucy?” Simon asked.
“No, him dating her has got nothing to do with this. What I have a problem with is that this guy is the man who I found in MY bed that night. He is the one who slept with Lucy,” Séb answered, shocking everyone.
They knew Séb had walked in on Lucy in bed with another man but they didn’t know who. Séb had never told anyone because it wasn’t their business. Simon and the others looked at Gordon who felt really uncomfortable at that moment.
“Tell me that isn’t true,” Simon looked at Gordon with anger in his eyes.
“I can’t tell you that. She wanted someone to love her and I was weak. We met outside of the studio and we agreed to get some coffee and talk but we ended up in Séb's apartment. I left right after Séb came home and half an hour later, Lucy showed up at my doorstep and we ended up in bed together again. Unfortunetely Caitlin walked in on us and she dumped me,” Gordon explained.
“Smart girl,” Séb mumbled.
“What was that?” Gordon asked.
“Nothing,” Séb replied without looking at him.
“I think we should call it a night. I need to talk to Gordon alone,” Simon told them.
“What is your relationship with Gordon?” Séb asked Simon.
“He is my nephew. His father left right after he was born and his mother, my sister, died when he was 14 and I’ve been his guardian ever since,” Simon answered.
“That explains why you are taking his side,” Séb said.
“I am not taking his side and that is what we have to talk about in private,” Simon looked at Séb.
They said goodnight to Simon and left the house, leaving Simon and Gordon alone to talk. After saying goodbye to each other they went their separate ways. Séb didn’t say anything on the way home and Deanna didn’t want to ask any questions because she wasn’t in the mood to argue with him. When they got back to the apartment, Séb walked into his bedroom without saying goodnight. Deanna grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge before she turned off the lights and walked into her bedroom to get ready for the night.
Deanna woke up the next morning with a feeling that something would happen later that day, something that would cause her to think twice about her job. Letting out a yawn, she rose from the bed and walked into the bathroom to have her shower. After her shower she got dressed for the day and walked into the kitchen to get some breakfast. She had expected to find Séb in the kitchen but there was no sign of him. He had been upset the night before but would he had left without telling her?
Deanna started breakfast and as the coffee was brewing she walked towards Séb’s room, hoping he was there. She silently opened the door and walked into the room as Séb came out of his bathroom wearing only a towel around his waist.
“Do you like what you see?” Séb teased her by asking.
“Don’t flatter yourself. I just wanted to tell you that I am making breakfast,” Deanna answered before leaving the room.
Séb couldn’t stop smiling as he got dressed. The look on Deanna’s face was priceless and for a few seconds he wondered if Megan was right about Deanna having feelings for him. He hoped Megan was right but he would have to wait until Lucy was caught to find out for sure. Séb finished getting dressed and walked into the kitchen where Deanna was busy making breakfast.
“It looks and smells good,” Séb said as he grabbed some plates from the cupboard.
“Thanks,” Deanna smiled at him.
Séb winked at her before he carried the plates to the table. He returned to the kitchen and helped her carry the rest of the breakfast to the table. They sat down and enjoyed their breakfast, talking about the plans for the day. They both had some shopping to do and they decided to do it after breakfast. Deanna needed a dress for the concert Saturday night and it had to be perfect for the occasion.
After clearing the table they got ready to leave the apartment. Deanna walked into the bedroom to get her gun and she joined Séb in the hallway. She grabbed her coat from the rack and she was just about to put it on when Séb took it from her and put it on her. He smiled at her as he put on his own coat before they left the apartment. Séb closed and locked the door behind them and they walked out into the street.
They walked down the street and Deanna had that strange feeling again. She didn’t pay much attention to what Séb was saying because she was too busy looking at people around them. They walked passed a dress shop and Deanna wanted to try on the dress in the window. Séb looked at the dress and then at Deanna. He tried to imagine what that dress would look like on her and he liked what he saw.
As they walked into the store, a young woman walked towards them and asked if she could help. Deanna told her that she would like to try on the dress in the window. After getting the dress from the sales woman, Deanna walked into the dressing room and put on the dress. While she was in the dressing room, she could hear Séb’s phone ringing and shortly after she heard him talking to someone. As Deanna stepped out of the dressing room, Séb hung up the phone. After paying for the dress they left the store and continued down the street.
“I got a phone call from a friend of mine and she wants to meet me at a café further down the street,” Séb told Deanna.
“Do you want me to back off when we get to the café?” Deanna questioned, looking at him.
“No, she is just a friend I haven’t seen in almost two years. She is back in London for a few days and she wants to meet me,” Séb answered.
“If this is what you want to do then it is ok with me,” Deanna said.
They walked to the café and once they were inside, a young woman walked over to them. She hugged Séb and he kissed her on the cheeks. The woman looked at Deanna and she held out her hand to Deanna with a smile on her face. Even though Deanna had a bad feeling about the woman, she smiled back as she shook her hand.
“Cathrine Morgan,” she said to Deanna.
“Deanna Kendall. I’m the PA,” Deanna told her.
“I thought Caitlin was the PA for the guys,” Cathrine looked at Deanna.
“With the guys being so popular and the tour coming up, Simon thought Caitlin could use some help. I have Séb and David and Caitlin has Carlos and Urs,” Deanna informed her.
“You can tell her the truth, Deanna. I trust her,” Séb said, looking at Deanna.
“So she is not a PA?” Cathrine asked.
“No, Deanna is my bodyguard. Let’s take a seat and I will tell you everything,” Séb replied.
They walked over to a table and sat down and Deanna was really struggling to keep her anger inside. She was angry at Séb for blowing her cover like that and she would need a serious conversation with Simon later. After ordering something to drink, Séb and Cathrine started talking about old times. Deanna watched Cathrine closely and she knew something was not right about this. She didn’t trust Cathrine at all and she couldn’t understand why Séb didn’t see that she couldn’t be trusted.
Half an hour later, Cathrine said goodbye to both of them and left the café. Deanna had been really quiet and Séb wondered why. As he looked at her face, he knew that this was not the right time or place to ask her any questions. It would have to wait until they were alone in his apartment. Séb paid the bill and they left the café without saying a word to each other and they continued the shopping trip in silence. When they got back to the apartment, Deanna took off her coat before walking into her bedroom without closing the door behind her. She had just finished putting her dress on a hanger and was about to walk into the living room when Séb appeared in the doorway.
“What’s wrong with you?” Séb enquired, blocking the way.
“What’s wrong? I will tell you what is wrong. You blew my cover, Séb! It won’t be long until Lucy knows that I’m your bodyguard and we will both be in danger,” Deanna answered his question with anger in her eyes.
“Don’t be so melodramatic. Cathrine doesn’t have any contact to Lucy. They haven’t spoken to each other for years,” Séb said, raising his voice.
“How can you be so sure of that? It has been two years since you’ve had any contact with Cathrine. You don’t think it’s strange that she shows up now?” Deanna asked him.
“I know Cathrine and I trust her. She would never let Lucy control her,” Séb replied.
“You don’t understand. We are both in danger now,” Deanna firmly stated.
“I thought you were in danger each time you’re protecting someone,” Séb looked at her.
“That is different. I risk my life when I am working as a bodyguard and I can deal with that because it is part of the job. I can walk out of this apartment now and get shot because Lucy now knows that I’m your bodyguard. If she takes me out, then you don’t have anyone to protect you. Think about that,” Deanna said, pushing him into the hallway.
She closed the door and walked over to the bed. As she sat down, she took out her phone and dialed Simon’s number. She had to inform him of the problems that might come and she hoped that Simon would understand her concern.
“Hello Deanna. What can I do for you?” Simon asked as he answered the phone.
“Séb blew my cover today. He met a woman named Cathrine Morgan and he told her that I was his bodyguard,” Deanna answered.
“I wouldn’t worry about that. She is an old friend and she won’t say anything,” Simon told Deanna, thinking she was overreacting.
“Well, I am the bodyguard and you will arrange for back up Saturday night or I will get on the first plane out of here. Your choice,” Deanna said, raising her voice.
“I don’t think back up will be necessary but I will do as you ask,” Simon agreed to her terms.
“Thank you, Simon,” Deanna said and hung up.
Deanna walked into the kitchen to get something to drink before joining Séb in the living room. He looked at her without saying anything and he could tell that she was still angry with him. When he thought about it, he did do something he shouldn’t have but Cathrine was his friend and he trusted her. She would never do anything to hurt him. He was sure of that.
“Do you have some news for me?” Lucy asked, answering the phone.
“Yes, I do have some news. Deanna Kendall is Séb’s bodyguard and she will be there with him at the concert Saturday night,” Cathrine answered.
“Perfect. Thank you for your help. You’re a good friend,” Lucy said.
“You’re welcome. I have to get to the airport. My plane leaves in two hours,” Cathrine informed her.
“Have a safe flight. I will talk to you later,” Lucy hung up the phone.
She felt good when she put the phone down. Saturday would be a good day for her. Lucy took a sip of her coke before she began making plans. It would be a concert they would never forget.

----- Next morning -----
Séb was making breakfast when Deanna walked into the kitchen. They hadn’t spoken much since Deanna had pushed him out of her room the night before and it was really getting on Séb’s nerves. He never wanted this to happen and he wanted to apologize but he didn’t know how to make her listen to him. Deanna sat down and watched Séb as he prepared breakfast for the two of them. It was hard to stay mad at him but Séb needed to learn that he couldn’t just tell people about her being his bodyguard.
“Carlos and Megan will be here after breakfast. I promised Megan that I would help her clean up the store and get it ready for the opening next week and Carlos will stay with you until I return,” Deanna informed him.
“Can’t we help?” Séb asked, handing her a cup of coffee.
“No, you will stay here with Carlos. That way you won’t get yourself or me into more trouble,” Deanna replied.
“Yes, miss Kendall,” Séb agreed, sending her a smile.
Séb had finished making breakfast and he put a plate in front of Deanna before he sat down. They didn’t say anything to each other during breakfast. After breakfast they cleared the table and Séb had just finished putting the dishes into the dishwasher when there was a knock on the door. Deanna looked at Séb and picked up her gun before she walked to the door. She put the gun away when she heard Megan’s voice and she opened the door with a smile.
After greeting them with hugs, Deanna stepped aside and let them enter. As they said hello to Séb, Deanna was getting ready to leave. She put the gun in the holster and put on her coat before turning towards Séb and Carlos. Séb knew what she wanted to say and he nodded his head in agreement. As soon as the two sisters had left, Carlos looked at Séb.
“What is going on with the two of you?” Carlos asked.
“Why do you think something is going on?” Séb answered with another question.
“I didn’t exactly sense any love in the room, maybe except for the love Megan and I have,” Carlos replied.
Séb told Carlos of what had happened the day before and Carlos couldn’t believe that Séb had done something like that. Carlos didn’t trust Cathrine at all and he had his reasons for not trusting her. It seemed strange to him that she would show up after two years and especially now when Lucy was trying to hurt Séb. Carlos was sure that Deanna’s feeling about Cathrine was right and he understood why Deanna was concerned. Séb didn’t seem to understand how serious this could be and Carlos didn’t know how to make him understand. Hopefully nothing bad would happen at the concert but Carlos had a bad feeling. There was no point in talking about it and Carlos decided to change the subject to the two sisters who had walked into their lives and how they felt about them.
Megan and Deanna met up with Monique and Charlene at the store and the four girls were enjoying some girly time decorating, chatting and having fun. Deanna knew it would only be a matter of time before Megan would start asking questions about the silence between her and Séb. At lunch time the girls had finished getting the store ready and they decided to have lunch at the café next door. Megan locked up the store and they went to the café and ordered something to eat. As soon as the food was served, Megan looked at Deanna.
“You don’t have to ask any questions, sis. I will tell you what is wrong,” Deanna said.
Deanna told them what had happened the day before with Cathrine and the girls couldn’t believe that Séb had blown Deanna’s cover. She was there for his protection and now she had to protect herself too. He had put her life in danger and that wasn’t fair of him to do that. Megan was angry at Séb but her yelling at him for putting her sister’s life in danger wouldn’t change anything. If Deanna had to worry about Megan and Séb not getting along, it would be even harder for her to do her job and Megan didn’t want that for her sister.
After lunch, the girls decided to do some shopping before going home. They hadn’t really had the chance to do things together and this would be the perfect opportunity to get to know each other.
While Charlene was out shopping with the girls, Urs was in the apartment planning his date with Charlene. This would be the night when he would ask her to marry him and he couldn’t wait to see her face when he pulled out the ring and asked her. With a smile on his face he picked up the phone and called the restaurant Clos Maggiore. It was supposed to be one of the most romantic restaurants in London and he thought it would be perfect for their special night.
After booking a table for the two of them, Urs walked into the bedroom with a smile on his face and picked out his outfit for dinner. He settled on a pair of black pants, a white shirt and a jacket. Urs was about to walk back to the living room when he heard the doorbell and he walked into the hallway and opened the door.
“Delivery for Mr. Urs Buhler,” a young man said, holding a package.
“That’s me,” Urs smiled and took the package.
“Would you please sign here?” the man asked him.
Urs signed the paper and closed the door when the young man left. He walked into the bedroom and opened the package to take a closer look at the dress he had bought for Charlene. Urs held up the dress and he hoped that Charlene would love it. He put the dress back in the box and walked into the kitchen to get something to drink. As he stood in the kitchen, he heard the door open and shortly after he heard Charlene call out his name. He walked into the hallway and greeted her with a kiss. Charlene locked her hands behind his neck and when she pressed her body against his, Urs intensified the kiss. He wanted so badly to take her into the bedroom but that would have to wait or they would be late for dinner.
“I’ve missed you,” she told him when they broke the kiss.
“I’ve missed you too, love. Did you have a good time?” Urs asked as he led her into the living room.
“Yes, it was nice to hang out with them and learn more about Deanna and Megan,” Charlene answered with a smile.
“I’m glad you had a great time, love,” Urs kissed her.
“Séb made a mistake yesterday. He told Cathrine about Deanna being his bodyguard,” Charlene looked at him.
“Carlos’ ex?” Urs questioned, wondering why she was back.
“Yes, Carlos’ ex. After two years she comes back to London to see Séb. I know she was our friend but why see Séb? It doesn’t make any sense,” Charlene responded.
“Do you think Lucy has something to do with it?” Urs looked at her.
“Yes, I do. She will do anything to get to Séb,” Charlene reminded him.
“Deanna is a good bodyguard and she will be careful. Now we should get ready for dinner. I am taking you out to dinner tonight,” Urs took her hand.
“That sounds great. I can’t wait. Where are you taking me?” Charlene asked him.
“You will find out when we get there and now it’s time for you to take your shower,” Urs replied with a smile.
“Will you join me in the shower?” she whispered seductively.
“I want to but it’s a bad idea, love,” Urs told her.
Charlene kissed him before disappearing into the bathroom. She couldn’t wait to spend a nice romantic dinner with her boyfriend and she was looking forward to see where he would be taking her. While Charlene was in the shower, Urs was in the kitchen making the final preparations for when they returned after dinner. He wanted to make it a night she would never forget.
As he walked into the bedroom, Charlene walked in with a towel wrapped around her body. Urs had to control himself and he hurried into the bathroom to get away from the temptation. Charlene watched him leave and she couldn’t stop smiling because she knew what she was doing to him. She opened the closet and wondered what to wear when she noticed the package with her name on it. For a few seconds she stared at the package before she took it out and opened it to find a stunning dress.
She heard the water being turned off and she quickly put on the dress. Urs came out of the bathroom wearing a towel and he stopped when he saw Charlene in the dress. She looked beautiful and at that moment he wanted to cancel everything but proposing at home didn’t seem right. Urs walked over to her and kissed her softly. She returned the kiss but suddenly Urs pulled away and told her he had to get dressed.
Ten minutes later they left the apartment and climbed into the limo that Urs had booked for them. As they drove through the streets of London, Charlene rested her head on his shoulder and Urs held her hand. He couldn’t wait to see the look on her face when he asked her to be his wife. The limo pulled up in front of the restaurant and Charlene was surprised to see where they were having dinner. They got out of the limo and Urs took her hand as they walked into the restaurant.
Urs gave his name to the hostess and they were shown to their table. They sat down and the waiter handed them the menus before leaving them alone to choose. He returned a few minutes later to take their order and then disappeared again. Urs was grateful for the waiters letting them be alone and he was waiting for the right moment to ask Charlene to marry him. The waiter returned with their food and drinks and he closed the door as he walked out of the private dining room.
Charlene and Urs talked and held hands during dinner and after they had their dessert, the waiter brought in the champagne. On his way out, the waiter dimmed the lights and turned on the music. Charlene looked at Urs and wondered what was going on. The champagne and the music told her that he was up to something but she was not prepared for what happened next. Urs got down on his knee, pulled out the ring box and looked at Charlene with love showing in his eyes.
“Charlene Dawson. We’ve known each other for three years and it was love at first sight. I want to spend the rest of my life with you because I can’t imagine not being with you. Will you marry me?” Urs asked, opening the ring box.
“Yes, of course I will marry you,” Charlene answered with tears in her eyes.
Urs smiled at her as he took out the ring and put it on her finger. Charlene looked at the ring and suddenly she remembered where she had seen the ring before. It was her grandmother’s ring and she wondered how Urs had gotten his hands on it. Urs stood, pulling Charlene with him and he kissed her deeply.
“Take me home,” Charlene whispered as they broke the kiss.
Urs took her hand and kissed it before they put on their coats and left the restaurant. The limo was waiting for them and they went back to their apartment to celebrate their engagement.
Deanna was in her room checking emails on her laptop. She had hoped that Megan and Carlos would have stayed for dinner but they had plans of their own and she wanted her sister to be happy. Just because she might never find the right man for herself, she had no right to stand in the way of her sister’s happiness. After replying to her emails, Deanna closed the laptop and walked into the bathroom for a shower.
While Deanna was in the shower, Séb was busy preparing dinner for the two of them. He wanted to apologize for what he had done and he hoped that she would forgive him. Séb had just finished cooking when Deanna came out of her bedroom, wearing a summer dress that clung to her body in all the right places. He tried to keep his focus on the food but it wasn’t easy because she looked beautiful. Deanna looked at him before she walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. A few minutes later Séb told her that dinner was served and Deanna joined him in the dining room.
“It looks and smells good,” Deanna said as she sat down.
“Thanks. I hope you like it,” Séb smiled at her.
Deanna and Séb enjoyed their dinner but Deanna couldn’t stop wondering why he had cooked dinner for them. He was up to something and she really wanted to know what was going on but she didn’t want to ruin dinner. It would have to wait until after dinner. After dinner, Deanna wanted to help clear the table but Séb refused and he told her to go into the living room and relax. About ten minutes later he joined her in the living room with two cups of coffee.
“Ok, tell me what is going on,” Deanna demanded as she took the coffee.
“I just wanted to apologize for what I did,” Séb looked at her.
“A dinner won’t change what you did and if you think everything is ok because you made me dinner, you can think again. What you did was uncalled for,” Deanna said, raising her voice.
“I still don’t think anything will happen. I trust Cathrine,” Séb tried to defend himself.
“You don’t get it, do you? If Lucy knows that I am your bodyguard, she will come after me,” Deanna told him.
“You’re overreacting. How can you be sure that she will come after you?” Séb asked.
“No, I’m not overreacting. She will come after me because I am the only one standing between you and her. If she gets rid of me, you’re next in line. Think about that,” Deanna told him angrily.
When he heard those words it suddenly occurred to him what could happen. She was right. If Deanna was hurt, Lucy had no problem getting to him and that is what Simon wanted to prevent when he had hired Deanna. As he looked at her, he understood how important Deanna was to him and not only as his bodyguard.
“I’m sorry,” Séb said to her.
“Apology accepted but from now on you will keep your mouth shut,” Deanna looked at him.
“I promise you that I won’t tell anyone who you really are. Friends?” he asked as he reached out his hand.
“Friends,” Deanna replied, taking his hand.
That night all of the Divos and the girls went to bed, not knowing that something bad would happen the next day. Danger was lurking in the darkness.

It was only 3.30 am when Deanna woke up. She couldn’t sleep and she thought that a cup of tea would do her good. Deanna rose from the bed and put on a robe before she walked into the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea. As she waited for the water to boil, she thought of what she would do after her job was done. Well, there really wasn’t much to think about because she had already made up her mind about going back to New York. Her only concern was that she would be separated from Megan.
Since the death of their parents, they hadn’t spent more than two days apart except for when Megan moved out and left Deanna with their foster parents. It would be really strange not having Megan around but she couldn’t ask her sister to give up Carlos and her store. Deanna knew that Megan was in good hands with Carlos and her sister was happy in London. Megan was finally happy and that was the most important thing.
After her tea was ready, Deanna turned off the lights in the kitchen and walked into the living room where she turned on the TV, adjusting the volume so it wouldn’t wake up Séb. She looked at the TV-screen but she couldn’t focus on the programme. Deanna still had a bad feeling about Lucy and she was positive that something bad would happen later that night, maybe not before the concert but after. Sipping her tea, she hoped that Simon kept his promise and had arranged for back-up because she had to focus 100% on Séb and make sure that Lucy would not get to him.
She finished her tea and turned off the TV and the lights before she took the cup to the kitchen. Deanna went into her bedroom and climbed into bed, wondering what would happen later. Slowly she drifted off to sleep and she didn’t wake up until she felt someone poking her, calling her name.
“What are you doing here?” Deanna asked Megan.
“Good morning to you too, grumpy,” Megan replied as she sat down on the bed.
“Sorry but I didn’t get much sleep. I was thinking about Lucy, about you and going home to New York,” Deanna told her sister.
“Are you sure that is what you want to do? Going back to New York I mean?” Megan questioned.
“Yes, that is what I want to do. There will be nothing for me here after my job is done,” Deanna said.
“Séb will be here,” Megan reminded her.
“I know he will but why would I care about that?” Deanna looked at her.
“You would care because you love him and don’t deny it,” Megan answered as she got up and walked to the door.
“I do love him but we are wrong for each other. Like Chris Young sings in the song Tomorrow……we’re like fire and gasoline, I’m no good for you, you’re no good for me,” Deanna told her.
“Well, if you do go back to New York, then think about what you are leaving behind. And I am not talking about me,” Megan said as she walked out of the bedroom.
Deanna let out a sigh and turned on her side. She did have feelings for Séb but why was it so difficult for people to see that they were not right for each other. He was a singer in a famous group and she was just a bodyguard. No, being involved with Séb was impossible and nothing would make her change her mind about that. Deanna rose from the bed and walked into her bathroom to get ready for the day. Half an hour later she left her room and she was surprised to see Simon, the Divos, the girls and a man she didn’t know in the dining room.
“Good morning. What is going on here?” Deanna asked as she took a seat.
“I wanted you to meet the man who will be your back-up tonight. This is my best security guard, Brian Hanson,” Simon replied.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Deanna. I hope my services won’t be needed but I will do whatever I can to watch your back,” Brian said, extending his hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you too and I appreciate the help. I hope nothing happens tonight but I have a really bad feeling,” Deanna shook his hand.
“While we eat, I will tell you about today’s schedule. You have a soundcheck at 2 pm and then you have some time off until you have to be back at the venue at 6 pm. The concert begins at 8 pm and after the concert we will have dinner together,” Simon explained.
“Are you going to tell us where?” Séb enquired, sipping his coffee.
“No, I won’t tell until after the concert,” Simon responded.
Séb didn’t say anything but he knew that Simon didn’t want to say anything because of him. Putting Deanna in danger was never his intention and even though she had forgiven him, he still felt bad about it. He really hoped that nothing would happen but he had to admit that he was a bit concerned. When he thought about it, Cathrine, being Carlos' ex, wanting to see him was a bit strange because after two years of silence she decides to show up.
About two hours later Simon and Brian left Séb’s apartment, leaving the Divos and the girls alone to talk. Urs and Charlene informed them of their engagement and everyone was happy for them. The schedule would be really busy with two weddings and rehearsals before the tour but if they worked together, they would succeed. After breakfast and clearing the table, they all walked into the living room to talk some more. They agreed to visit Caitlin in the hospital before going to the soundcheck and the girls would stay with Caitlin until the guys were done. They continued to talk until it was time for them to leave.
They arrived at the hospital half an hour before the guys had to be at the soundcheck and when they walked into Caitlin’s room she had company. Gordon was sitting next to her bed and they were talking and laughing. Séb wanted to leave but Caitlin was his friend and he felt guilty about her being in the hospital because Lucy was his ex. Caitlin was happy to see all of them and she told Séb not to feel bad about what happened. It wasn’t his fault and he shouldn’t blame himself. Gordon told Caitlin that he would be back later and he kissed her cheek before he left the room.
“Are the two of you back together?” Carlos asked her.
“Not yet but we are working on it. I know he cheated on me but I’ve forgiven him for that. Maybe I shouldn’t but I still love him and if we can make this work, I will be happy,” Caitlin replied with a smile.
“You did make a great couple,” Monique smiled.
“Yes, we did have some great times until Lucy showed up. We will just have to wait and see,” Caitlin told her.
After spending some time with Caitlin, the guys and Deanna said goodbye and left for the soundcheck, leaving the girls with Caitlin. They were a bit sad that Deanna couldn’t be with them but she was still working and with Lucy being out there, she had to stay with Séb. Caitlin had noticed that something was going on with Deanna and Séb and she wanted to know what it was.
“They love each other but my sister is really stubborn. Somehow she thinks they are wrong for each other but I disagree. She told me that she is going back to New York when her job is done,” Megan explained.
“To me they look like the perfect couple and I don’t understand how she can just walk away from him,” Caitlin spoke her mind.
“That makes two of us but as I said before, Deanna is stubborn,” Megan sighed.
“Well, if Séb loves her then he will fight for her love. I doubt he will just accept that she is leaving,” Monique said to them.
“You should know that better than anyone and I hope you’re right,” Megan smiled.
While the girls were having a good time at the hospital, the guys and Deanna had arrived at the venue. Deanna was watching the soundcheck and they did sound amazing. As she watched Séb on the stage, she wondered if she was doing the right thing about going back to New York. The man standing in front of her on stage was the man of her dreams but she didn’t fit into his world or did she? No, her mind was made up. She would be going back to New York and nothing would make her change her mind.
After the soundcheck they went back to the hospital to pick up the girls before heading home to relax. Deanna walked straight into her room when they returned to Séb’s apartment because she needed some time alone. It wasn’t because of Séb but she needed some alone time to clear her head and it was something she did when things were bothering her. She had to let go of all thoughts concerning Megan and New York and focus on her main priority which was keeping Séb safe. Deanna couldn’t live with losing another client and she knew that it would be the hardest job ever because of her personal feelings but she was a professional and she had to put all personal feelings aside. She lay down on the bed and drifted off to sleep.
---- Concert time ----
“You look beautiful,” Séb said to Deanna who was wearing a knee length pink dress.
“Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself,” Deanna smiled at him.
“Ok, I have to ask this. Where do you hide you gun in that dress?” he asked.
“I have a gun in my purse and that’s all so you can stop wondering about that,” Deanna laughed.
“We should leave,” Séb smiled as he took her hand.
They left the apartment and climbed into the limo where the others were waiting for them. Simon had asked Brian to be the driver because if Deanna needed help, he would be close and nobody would expect him to be a bodyguard. It took about fifteen minutes to get to the venue and the guys couldn’t wait to perform again. It would be their last performance before rehearsals started and they wanted to give their fans a great experience. When they arrived at the venue the girls followed the guys to their dressing rooms and they were outside talking while the guys got dressed for the concert.
The guys came out of their dressing rooms and they all looked handsome as always. Deanna followed Séb to the stage and the other girls found their seats in front row. As soon as the music started playing, Deanna felt that it was safe for her to take her seat and she joined the other girls. They enjoyed the concert and the guys were doing great as always. The fans loved every minute of it and the Divos were enjoying themselves. They wanted to give the fans a great experience and that is what the fans got. After the last song, the audience gave the guys a standing ovation, letting them know that it had been a great concert.
Deanna met Séb backstage and she escorted him to his dressing room. She was talking to the other girls while the guys changed into their dinner clothes. Simon had told them to meet him outside of the venue when they were ready and they would go to the restaurant together. Half an hour later they all left the venue and climbed into the limo. Brian informed them that he hadn’t seen Lucy at the venue but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t around somewhere. The restaurant was only a few minutes away and they were all looking forward to getting something to eat.
At the restaurant, they were shown to their table and after placing the orders, the waiter left them alone. Simon had arranged for a private dining room because he thought that the Divos would prefer some private time. They loved their fans but they deserved some time alone to be Carlos, David, Urs and Sébastien instead of Il Divo. It took about ten minutes before the food was served and everyone was having a great time. They were talking and laughing and everything was fine. To Simon it had been a perfect day but the day wasn’t over and a lot of things could still happen.
After dinner Séb wanted to get some fresh air and he left the dining room with Deanna. When they got into the street it seemed like they were the only two people around. Deanna felt that someone was watching them, and she took an extra look around and suddenly a shadow appeared from the darkness. She stepped in front of Séb and watched as the shadow walked into the light. It was Lucy and she was holding a gun. Deanna couldn’t get to her gun without Lucy noticing and she had to think fast.
“Well, well, well. It’s Sébastien and his bodyguard. This must be my lucky day,” Lucy said.
“What do you want, Lucy?” Séb questioned as he put his hands on Deanna’s shoulders.
“I want your bodyguard. She is the only thing standing in the way of me getting to you. Eliminate any obstacle on your way to reach your goal. Deanna is an obstacle and you are my goal, Sébastien,” Lucy laughed.
“You don’t want to do this, Lucy. Put the gun down,” Séb pleaded.
“That is not going to happen. Take out your gun, Deanna and toss it over here,” Lucy demanded, still pointing the gun at them.
“Don’t do it, Deanna,” Séb begged but Deanna did as Lucy requested.
“I didn’t think it would be that easy. What kind of bodyguard are you? You just blew it,” Lucy said.
“What were you thinking?” Séb asked her.
“I have a spare gun but it’s somewhere I can’t reach without Lucy finding out,” Deanna whispered as she turned a bit and looked at him.
“If you tell me where it is, I will get it for you,” Séb whispered in her ear.
“It is in a holster on my left inner thigh,” Deanna told him.
“Ok, are you sure you want me to get it for you?” he asked.
“If I have a choice between getting shot or let you find the gun, I will go with the gun,” Deanna replied.
Séb slowly removed his hands from Deanna’s shoulder and she froze when she felt his hand lift up her dress. His hands found their way to the holster and shortly after he held the gun in his hand. He wasn’t sure of how to give the gun to Deanna but she already had a plan. Deanna told Séb to try and distract Lucy while she would get the gun from him. Séb agreed and it seemed to be working. At one point where Lucy wasn’t watching, she reached behind her back and took the gun from Séb.
“I think you should throw down your gun,” Deanna suggested, pointing her own gun at Lucy,
“Where did you get that gun from?” Lucy asked.
“Did you really think that I would go out like this without an extra gun? Deanna responded.
“You knew I would be here, didn’t you?” Lucy wondered.
“I had a feeling you would be here. For the last time I am asking you to put down your gun,” Deanna said one more time.
“No, you can’t tell me what to do,” Lucy said in anger.
“You’re right about that. I can’t tell you what to do but I will kill you if I have to,” Deanna told her.
“You don’t scare me,” Lucy said and pulled the trigger.
The shot echoed in the street and as Deanna pulled the trigger, another shot was fired. The Divos and the girls had heard the shots and they came out of the restaurant to see Deanna standing in front of Séb. They couldn’t believe what they saw in the street. Brian was holding a gun in his hand and Lucy was lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The Divos and the girls had no idea that something wasn’t right until Deanna turned around and looked into Séb's eyes as she removed her hand from her stomach. Seb wasn't sure what he was seeing in her eyes, was it pain or fear? He knew as soon as his eyes followed hers and he looked at her bloody hand.
“This is not good,” she whispered to him before she passed out in his arms.
Megan ran over to them, followed by Simon and the others. Simon took out his phone and dialed for help as Séb tried to stop the bleeding. Megan was crying and Carlos tried his best to comfort her. As the sirens came closer, Deanna could hear Séb’s voice but she couldn’t open her eyes.
“Don’t you dare leave me now, Deanna Kendall. It is not your time. Your sister needs you and so do I,” he said.
“Listen to him, Deanna. It is not your time and Megan needs you,” a familiar voice said.
“Daddy?” Deanna asked.
“Yes, it’s me. Hold on and fight this. We both know you can do it. You’re strong and I want you to know that I am really proud of you. Don’t follow me, sweetheart. It is not your time. Stay with your sister and take care of her. We love you both very much. Remember that,” her dad said before he disappeared.
“Please, let go of her,” a man told Séb.
Séb did as the man said and Deanna was put into an ambulance and it drove off in a hurry. Brian told them to get into the limo and he would take them to the hospital. The drive to the hospital seemed to take forever and they all hoped that Deanna would be alright but only time would tell.

When the ambulance arrived at the hospital, Deanna was rushed into surgery because of the critical condition she was in. She had been unconscious since the ambulance drove off and she had lost a lot of blood. Every minute counted and there was no time to waste. Meanwhile one of the paramedics gave Deanna’s info to one of the nurses and he also told her that Deanna’s sister and friends were on their way. The nurse wrote everything down and the paramedics left the hospital.
The Divos and the girls were on their way to the hospital and the only sound in the limo was Megan crying. Carlos did his best to comfort her but it seemed like an impossible task. Charlene and Urs just sat there without saying a word and Monique held David’s hand as they looked at Séb who was staring out of the window. He was feeling guilty about Deanna being in the hospital because it was his fault. Séb knew that Cathrine had been the one who had leaked the info on Deanna to Lucy. How could he have been so stupid? He knew that Megan would blame him if Deanna didn’t make it and she had every right to.
The limo stopped in front of the hospital and they all got out. They walked into the hospital and shortly after, the police and Simon arrived. He had been talking to the police but he couldn’t give them all of the info because he had not seen what happened before Deanna was shot.
“My name is Megan Kendall and my sister was brought in with a gunshot wound to her stomach,” she managed to say to the nurse.
“Miss Kendall is in surgery right now. The doctor will be with you as soon as possible,” the nurse told her.
“Can’t you tell me anything? That is my sister,” Megan cried.
“I’m sorry but that is all I know. Why don’t you take a seat in the waiting room and wait for the doctor,” the nurse said.
Carlos wrapped his arms around Megan and pulled her close. They walked into the waiting room and sat down, waiting for the doctor to bring them news about Deanna. Simon and the police officer joined them shortly after and the officer asked Séb if they could have a word outside. Séb walked outside with the officer and he gave the officer all the info he had.
“Do you know who killed Lucy?” Séb asked the officer.
“Not yet but I will keep you informed,” the officer said before leaving.
Séb returned to the waiting room and his eyes met Megan’s. She looked at him with anger in her eyes but she didn’t say anything. This wasn’t the right time or place to talk about this but she would tell him exactly what she thought of him when Deanna was safe. Séb had to get away and he asked if anyone would like something to drink. David and Monique offered to go with him and the three of them disappeared down the hallway. Megan had stopped crying but she was still wrapped in Carlos’ arms and she couldn’t think of a better place to be. She felt safe in Carlos’ arms and she wished that she could be in his arms forever.
“She will be ok, Sébastien,” Monique said as they were waiting for the coffee.
“I hope so. I couldn’t live with myself if she,” he paused and looked at Monique.
“She won’t die. I am sure this is not the first time that she has taken a bullet for someone,” Monique said, hoping it would calm Séb down.
“I guess you’re right,” Séb sighed as they got the coffee.
They walked back to the waiting room with the coffee and David was the one who handed everyone the coffee they had ordered. All they could do was to sit down and wait for the doctor to bring them news about Deanna’s surgery and her condition. The time went by very slowly and they were all getting tired but they didn’t want to leave without knowing how Deanna was doing. After what seemed to be an eternity, the doctor appeared with news.
“How is my sister?” Megan asked him.
“The surgery went well and we managed to remove the bullet. She has lost a lot of blood but the bullet didn’t do any damage to her organs. She is not out of the woods yet and the next 24 hours could be crucial. We will know more tomorrow,” the doctor said.
“Thank you. Can we see her?” Megan looked at him.
“She will be moved to room 8 in ten minutes or so but you will be only one who can see her,” he replied.
“Would it be possible for me to stay here tonight?” Megan questioned, sipping her coffee.
“Yes, your sister will be in a room with two beds. Before I leave, I do have a question for you. What does your sister do?” the doctor asked.
“She is a bodyguard,” Megan answered his question.
“That explains her medical file. Well, now she can add another gunshot wound to the list,” the doctor said.
“I doubt it will be the last injury,” Megan sighed, shaking her head.
“I have to leave now but I will be back later to check on your sister,” the doctor told her and left.
“You can see your sister now, Miss Kendall,” a nurse told Megan.
“Thank you,” Megan smiled and looked at Carlos.
“I will be out here if you need me,” Carlos said to her.
Megan walked into Deanna’s room and closed the door behind her. She walked over to Deanna’s bed and sat down before taking Deanna’s hand. Megan just sat there holding Deanna’s hand without saying anything. She prayed that her sister would make it because she couldn’t imagine not having Deanna in her life. Megan looked at the clock and it was getting late. She kissed Deanna’s forehead, whispering she would be back soon before she left the room and walked back to the waiting room.
“You can leave if you want to. There is no reason for you to stay here tonight. I will call Monique is there is any change,” Megan said.
“Are you sure about that?” Monique asked.
“Yes, I am sure. You should go home and get some rest,” Megan answered with a smile.
“Ok, we will be back tomorrow. Are you coming Séb?” Monique looked at him.
“No, I am staying here,” he replied.
“You should leave, Séb,” Megan said, not hiding her anger.
“No, I am not leaving. Deanna is in this hospital because of me and I want to be here,” he told her.
“You can stay but I don’t want you near my sister,” Megan snapped at him.
Séb didn’t say anything and the others looked at Megan. They understood her reaction as she was concerned about her sister but Deanna was a bodyguard and she knew the risks. There was a chance that Deanna would have been shot even if Séb hadn’t said anything so they couldn’t be sure it was his fault. Urs, Charlene, Monique and David left the hospital and Megan walked back to Deanna. The nurse arrived to check on Deanna and she told Megan to get some sleep. As the nurse left, Carlos walked into the room to say goodnight to Megan.
“Would you mind staying in here with me?” Megan looked at him.
“I want nothing more than that but I think I will stay with Séb,” Carlos responded, touching her cheek.
“I understand. Goodnight, Carlos,” Megan smiled.
Carlos said goodnight and walked to the door but suddenly he turned around and walked back to Megan. He looked at her briefly before he pulled her close and kissed her. Megan held on to him to steady herself when he broke the kiss. He smiled at her before he turned and walked out of the room, leaving Megan speechless. The kiss was just as she had imagined it would be. Megan was a bit disappointed about Carlos not wanting to stay with her but she kind of understood why he had said no. She got ready for bed and kissed Deanna’s forehead before climbing into her own bed. Megan looked at Deanna one more time before she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning Deanna woke up and looked around the room. Her mind drifted back to the night before and she recalled the look on Lucy’s face when the shot was fired. She remembered firing her own gun at Lucy but she wasn’t sure if she had hit her. Suddenly she remembered another shot being fired at the same time as hers but what did that mean? Was Lucy still alive?
“Megan?” Deanna called out to her sister.
Megan opened her eyes and looked over at Deanna. She smiled at her sister and jumped out of bed. Megan wrapped her arms around Deanna and hugged her tightly.
“You’re alive,” Megan said with a smile.
“Not for long if you keep hugging me like that,” Deanna told her.
“I’m sorry, sis. I’m just happy that you’re alive,” Megan apologized and pulled back.
“So am I. How is Séb? Is he ok?” Deanna questioned.
“Yes, he is fine. He is in the waiting room with Carlos but you shouldn’t worry about him,” Megan replied, rather annoyed.
“Why are you mad at him?” Deanna wanted to know.
“It is his fault that you are in the hospital. If he hadn’t told that witch that you were his bodyguard, you wouldn’t be here,” Megan reminded her.
“Lucy would have pulled that trigger no matter what. I was angry at him for giving Cathrine the info but I don’t blame him for me being shot. It is part of the job and I know the risks,” Deanna firmly stated.
“I know that. I’m sorry,” Megan hugged her.
“Apology accepted,” Deanna hugged her back.
The two sisters continued to talk until the doctor entered the room. He asked Megan to leave the room while he examined Deanna. Megan did as requested and left the room. When she walked into the waiting room, Carlos was sleeping and Séb was standing by the window. She felt bad about treating him badly and she had to talk to him and apologize for her behavior. Taking a deep breath, she walked over to him.
“Good morning, Séb. Did you sleep well?” Megan enquired, looking at him.
“No, I didn’t sleep at all. I tried to sleep but when I closed my eyes, I saw Deanna’s face before she passed out in my arms,” Séb responded.
“I’m sorry to hear that and I’m sorry for being a witch towards you,” Megan said.
“It’s ok, Megan. She is your sister and you care for her,” Séb smiled.
“I just thought you should know that she is awake and she asked about you,” Megan informed him.
“Can I see her?” Séb asked, hoping Megan would say yes.
“You should ask the doctor about that,” Megan suggested.
“I don’t see any problems with that. Your sister seems to be fine and I think we can say she is out of danger. We do have to watch her though but everything looks fine,” the doctor informed them.
Séb thanked him and left the waiting room. When he walked into Deanna’s room, he saw a nurse standing next to the bed. The nurse turned and smiled at him before she left the room.
“Hi,” Séb smiled as he walked over to the bed.
“Hi. How are you?” Deanna asked.
“Thanks to you I’m fine but I should be asking you that question,” he said as he sat down.
“I’m ok. A little sore but at least you’re safe. What happened to Lucy?” Deanna wanted to know.
“Lucy is dead. Both you and Brian fired your guns at the same time but we don’t know who killed her,” Séb told her.
“I don’t care who killed her. My job was to protect you and I did that. Guess that means I can go back to New York,” Deanna said.
“You could stay here,” Séb looked at her.
“I could do that but there is no reason for me to stay here. My job here is done,” Deanna reminded him.
“I’m here, Deanna. You know how I feel about you and I want you to look at me and tell me that you don’t have any feelings for me,” Séb demanded.
“It’s not that I don’t have feelings for you but I don’t belong in your world, Séb. We are too different and it would never work. You are a Divo and I’m a bodyguard,” Deanna pointed out to him.
“I don’t care about that,” Séb said as he reached for her hand.
“I care. As you know my dad was a cop and I saw how worried my mom was when he was late. Everytime she heard a car, she wondered if it was dad’s boss who came to tell her that he had been injured or killed. My ex couldn’t live with it and he broke up with me because of it. I don’t want you to sit at home, wondering if I come home,” Deanna told him.
“That should be my decision, not yours. You can’t make that decision for me, Deanna,” Séb raised his voice.
“You’re right. I can’t make that decision for you but I can make that decision for me. I’m sorry,” Deanna looked at him.
“I guess there is nothing more to say then,” Séb said and left.
Deanna watched him leave and she could feel the tears forming in her eyes but she couldn’t do that to him. She loved him too much to put him through something like that and Séb needed a girl who didn’t risk her own life to keep strangers safe.
Urs, Charlene, David and Monique had arrived when Séb walked past the waiting room without looking at any of them. Megan told the guys to go after him and talk to him while she would take the girls to Deanna’s room. It was obvious that something had happened in Deanna’s room and Megan had a feeling what it was. The time had come for a serious chat with Deanna.
“You look like a thunder cloud. What’s going on?” David asked when the guys caught up with Séb.
“Deanna turned me down again. She does have feelings for me but apparently we’re too different. She doesn’t want me to worry about her when she is working,” Séb repeated Deanna’s words.
“I wouldn’t worry too much about it, Séb. Megan will talk some sense into Deanna,” Carlos assured him.
“It doesn’t matter, Carlos. I can’t win her heart and I’m not wasting any more time trying. She doesn’t want me and I have to accept that. I’ll talk to you guys later,” Séb sighed and left.
The guys looked at each other and they couldn’t believe that Séb had given up that easy. It wasn’t like him to just give up without a fight. They walked back inside and joined he girls in Deanna’s room.
“Where’s Séb?” Deanna looked at them.
“He went home. Why do you even care?” Urs raised his voice.
“Stop it, Urs,” Megan looked at him with eyes that could kill.
Urs looked at Megan and walked out of the room. He didn’t mean to raise his voice but Deanna was just being stubborn. Séb was a grown man and he could make his own decisions. Deanna had no right making a decision like that for him. Charlene joined Urs in the waiting room and she surprised him by saying that she understood Deanna’s point of view.
“Well, I don’t understand it,” Urs told her.
“Maybe you should look at hit from her point of view. Deanna is a bodyguard and there is a chance that she could get killed on the job. She doesn’t want Séb to experience that,” Charlene looked at him.
“I understand that but it should be Séb’s decision, not Deanna’s,” Urs voiced his opinion.
Charlene didn’t say anything. Urs was right but so was Deanna. Charlene knew they would never agree on this subject so there was no need to talk about it. It was up to Deanna and Séb to work this out. Charlene and Urs walked back to Deanna’s room and the doctor was in there, giving Deanna some info on her condition. He told her that if all went well, she would be able to leave by the end of the week. After the doctor had left, the others decided to get some breakfast and let Deanna rest. As soon as they were gone, Deanna closed her eyes and thought about Séb. The hurt look on his face haunted her but she had to do what she felt was right, even if it meant that she had to hurt the man she loved.

Séb had returned home and he wasn’t in a good mood. He knew there was no way of getting Deanna to change her mind and it was time for him to move on. The first step would be for him to forget about her ever being in his life and he would ask Megan to pick up Deanna’s things before she was released from the hospital. Séb sighed as he picked up a bottle of water and walked into the living room and sat down. He took a sip of water before he picked up the phone and dialed Carlos’ number but there was no answer. Séb put down the phone and leaned back on the couch. He closed his eyes but he kept seeing Deanna’s face and right now she was the last person he wanted to see.
Half an hour later Séb woke up to the sound of a phone ringing. He looked at the caller ID before he answered the phone to hear Carlos’ voice on the other end. Séb asked if he could speak to Megan and when Megan took the phone Séb asked her to pick up Deanna’s things because he no longer wanted them in his apartment. He never expected Megan to say no but she did, adding that she didn’t want to go through Deanna’s things and it would have to wait until Deanna was released. Séb wasn’t pleased to hear that but he would have to live with it.
Over the next week Deanna was recovering well and the doctor had told her that she could leave the hospital Saturday if she promised not to do too much. Deanna promised him that she would take it easy but she left out the part about her going back to New York. She knew that he would never let her leave if he knew that she had planned that so she kept quiet about it.
Nobody had heard anything from Séb since the phone call to Carlos and they were all worried about him. When they tried to call him, they got his voicemail and when they went to his apartment, he never answered. Simon had tried to send him emails but he didn’t reply to those. He seemed to have disappeared from the surface and they had no idea where to look for him. It wasn’t like Séb to disappear like that but they knew he had been hurt badly when Deanna turned him down for the second time. They just had to wait for him to show up again.
Megan was visiting Deanna in the hospital the day before her release and she told her about Séb. Deanna had not seen him either but she couldn’t blame him for not visiting her. Deep down Deanna hoped that he would be there when she picked up her things because they needed to talk about what happened. Somehow she had to convince him that it would be better for both of them in they were not dating.
“Carlos and I will pick you up tomorrow and drop you off at Séb’s place but remember he won’t know that you’re coming,” Megan told her.
“I have to be at the airport by noon. If you pick me up here at 10 am it should be fine,” Deanna smiled at her.
“Ok, we will be here at 10 am. We have some things to do after dropping you off, so you can just call us when it’s time for us to pick you up again,” Megan agreed.
“I will do that. Are you ok with me leaving?” Deanna asked.
“I would prefer that you stay here but you have to do what you feel is right,” Megan responded.
“This feels right to me. I don’t want Séb to go through the same thing as mom did when dad was working. You know how she felt,” Deanna said.
“I know how she felt but you can’t decide what is best for Séb. He is not mom and he might be able to live with it. I think the real problem is that you can’t live with it. You are afraid that he will dump you like the jerk did but I bet that Séb would never do that,” Megan looked at her sister.
“You are way off, sis. I am thinking of what is best for Séb. He deserves to be with someone who doesn’t risk her life to save strangers,” Deanna stated.
“There is a way to make it work. You could tell Johnny that you’re resigning because you have fallen in love with Séb,” Megan suggested.
“If I quit as a bodyguard, then what would I do? I started as a cop and then I became a bodyguard. It’s what I do for a living and there is nothing else I can do,” Deanna reminded her.
“We will think of something if you want to stay here,” Megan smiled at her.
“No, Megan. I’ve made up my mind. I am going back to New York,” Deanna said.
“I just hope you know what you’re doing,” Megan looked at her.
“Don’t worry, sis. I know what I am doing,” Deanna smiled.
“I have to leave now, sis. Carlos asked me out on a date and I don’t want to be late,” Megan beamed.
“I’m happy for you and you’re right, you can’t be late for that. Tell Carlos I said hi,” Deanna hugged her.
“I will do that. I’ll see you tomorrow,” Megan smiled before she left the room.
As soon as Megan was gone, Deanna closed her eyes and thought of Megan’s words about quitting her job and it was an option but being a bodyguard was all she was good at. It was either working as a bodyguard or a cop and both involved the risk of getting hurt on duty. No, she had to go home to New York and continue her job in the Big Apple. New York was where she belonged. Slowly she drifted off to sleep, thinking of Séb.
“You’re early,” Carlos said when Megan walked into the apartment.
“I know but I didn’t want to be late for our date,” Megan told him as she hung up her coat.
“You have got one hour to get ready,” Carlos smiled.
“Then I should get started,” Megan smiled at him and left.
Carlos watched her leave and he couldn’t wait to have dinner with Megan. She was a wonderful girl and he had never been so attracted to a woman before. Megan was special and he was happy about her staying in London instead of going back to New York with Deanna. Carlos picked up his phone and called Séb again but Séb still didn’t answer and it had been almost a week without a word. Putting down his phone, Carlos let out a sigh and walked into his own room to get ready.
Half an hour later they were both dressed and ready for the date. Carlos helped Megan put on her coat before he put on his own and shortly after they were on their way. When they arrived at the restaurant, they were met by the owner of the restaurant who was also one of Carlos’ best friends. He showed them into a private area where they could enjoy their dinner without being disturbed. After taking their orders, he disappeared and left them alone.
Carlos and Megan talked about their childhoods, their lives, Il Divo and of course Deanna and Séb were on the list too. After getting their food, they continued to talk and enjoy their first date. Megan couldn’t believe that she was in a restaurant with Carlos Marin and she hoped it wouldn’t be the last date. After dinner they returned to the apartment and Carlos helped her take off her coat. They walked into the living room to continue their date and they completely lost track of time. It was almost 3 am when they decided to call it a night. Carlos escorted Megan to her bedroom and he pulled her close and kissed her goodnight before walking to his own room. As he got ready for bed, he knew it wasn’t the last time they had been out on a date and he couldn’t wait to show her how special she was to him.
“Can’t sleep?” David asked as he wrapped his arm around Monique.
“No, I can’t. I am worried about Sébastien,” she replied, turning around to look at him.
“Séb is fine. He just needs some time alone to think and he will contact us when he is ready to do that,” David said.
“I know that but he is my brother and I am worried. He has been gone for almost a week now,” Monique sighed.
“We are all worried about him but I promise you that he is fine. Give him time to gather his thoughts and he will be back. And now we need some sleep. Tomorrow will be a busy day,” David kissed her softly.
“You’re right. I just wish Séb would be there but with everything that has happened, he probably wouldn’t show up anyway,” Monique smiled at him.
“Let me see if I can take your mind off your brother,” David flashed him smile at her and took her hand.
They walked into the bedroom and climbed into bed. David pulled her into his arms and he surprised Monique by talking about their wedding. The plans seemed to be working and Monique told him of her plans and David was surprised to learn that she had everything planned, except for the rings. She wanted David to take care of that part and he didn’t have a problem with that. In fact he had already picked the rings and he couldn’t wait to show them to her. The two of them drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms.
Urs had been in a bad mood all week and Charlene couldn’t deal with it anymore. They needed to talk about it and she hoped that she could make Urs understand why Deanna had turned Séb down. Maybe she could make him see things from a woman’s point of view. They were chilling on the couch watching TV when Charlene took the remote and turned the TV off.
“Why did you do that?” Urs looked at her.
“We need to talk, Urs. It has been a week and you’re still in a bad mood. You haven’t visited Deanna since last week and you should visit her. She almost gave up her life to save your friend,” Charlene responded.
“I know she did but that is her job. She is a bodyguard and she risks her life to save strangers,” Urs reminded Charlene.
“Maybe if you saw things from her point of view, you would understand why she is leaving,” Charlene snapped at him.
“Did you just snap at me? Urs was stunned.
“Sorry but you are just as stubborn as Deanna. Imagine how you would feel if I was a cop or a bodyguard like Deanna and you had to sit at home every night, wondering if I came home,” Charlene asked, looking straight at him.
“I would worry but I could live with it,” Urs answered.
“Could you really? Then let’s imagine that you got a visit from someone saying that I had been killed on the job. Would you still be able to live with it?” Charlene questioned him.
“You’ve made your point. Deanna loves him too much to put him through something like that but she is hurting him now,” Urs said.
“Yes, she is hurting him now but it will be nothing compared to the pain he will feel if he learns that she is dead,” Charlene told him.
“Ok, I understand her reasons but there is another option to make it work with Séb if she really loves him. She could quit her job,” Urs looked at her.
“True. She could do that and maybe she will. Let’s get some sleep,” Charlene stood and looked at Urs.
He smiled at her as he took her hand before leading her into the bedroom to show her how much he loved her.
The next morning Carlos and Megan arrived at the hospital to pick up Deanna. The doctor had told Deanna not to overdo it and take it easy and Deanna promised to do so. They left the hospital and the drive to Séb’s place was a silent one. Deanna wondered if Séb would be there and how he would react to seeing her. She knew she had hurt him badly but they needed to talk about it and she hoped that he would listen.
Carlos stopped the car in front of the apartment building and Deanna promised to call when she was ready to go. She got out of the car and took a deep breath before she walked into the building where she stepped into the elevator. Pushing the button, she closed her eyes to calm herself down. She was beyond nervous and she could feel her heart beating faster than normal when the elevator doors opened. Stepping out of the elevator, she let out a sigh and walked towards Séb’s apartment. She knocked on the door and she wasn’t prepared for who opened the door.
“Can I help you?” a blonde woman wearing only a t-shirt asked.
“My name is Deanna and I’m here to pick up my things,” Deanna replied, looking at the blonde woman.
“Oh, you’re Séb’s bodyguard. I’m Linda. He told me that you might show up. Come on in,” she smiled as she stepped aside.
“Thanks,” Deanna said and walked into the apartment.
“Séb isn’t here. He had some things to take care of and then he wanted to go shopping for our dinner tonight,” Linda explained.
“That’s ok. I will pack and get out of your way,” Deanna said and walked into her bedroom.
The doctor had told her not to overdo anything but she had to hurry packing because she didn’t want to stay any longer than she had to. Yes, she had turned Séb down and he had every right to be dating another woman but she never imagined he would move on so quickly. Deanna let out a sigh and walked into the bathroom to collect her things. About twenty minutes later she called Megan and informed her that she was ready for them to pick her up. Deanna picked up her suitcase and left the bedroom.
“Can I offer you something to drink?” Linda questioned Deanna.
“No thanks, I have a plane to catch,” Deanna walked to the door.
Linda just looked at Deanna as she walked out of the apartment, closing the door behind her. She knew that Deanna had gotten the wrong idea about her being in the apartment and she would have to tell Séb about it because Deanna’s reaction proved that she was in love with Séb. Linda walked into Séb’s bedroom and took out some pants and put them on before returning to the living room. She sat down on the couch and waited for Séb to return home.
Deanna was waiting for Carlos and Megan to arrive and she wasn’t in a good mood. When Carlos and Megan arrived, they could see that something was wrong but they didn’t want to ask. Carlos took the suitcase and put it in the trunk as Deanna climbed into the car. Carlos joined the two sisters and they drove off. Deanna wondered what was going on because this was not the way to the airport.
“Where are we going?” Deanna asked.
“We couldn’t let you leave without saying goodbye to your friends,” Megan replied with a smile.
“I am not really in the mood for that. Could you please just take me to the airport?” Deanna looked at Megan.
“Ok, I will just tell Monique that we won’t be coming,” Megan responded, looking at Carlos.
She took out her phone and sent a message to Monique, telling her that there had been some changes to their plans and Monique sent a message back saying ok. They didn’t talk much on the way to the airport and Megan wanted so badly to know what was wrong with Deanna. She knew that Deanna would be upset if she asked her what was bothering her but she didn’t have a choice.
“I want to know what is bothering you,” Megan looked at Deanna.
“I know I turned Séb down but I didn’t expect to find a woman in a T-shirt in his apartment. It sure didn’t take him long to get over me,” Deanna explained.
Megan and Carlos looked at each other. They couldn’t believe that Séb had moved on like that, especially since he was in love with Deanna. Carlos was convinced that Deanna had gotten the wrong idea about the woman in the apartment and it just didn’t seem like something Séb would do. They arrived at the airport and Carlos took out the suitcase and they walked into the airport where Simon, Monique, David, Charlene and Urs were waiting for them.
“Did you really think we would let you leave without saying goodbye?” Monique asked with a smile.
“No, not really. I’m glad you are all here. I want to say that it has been great meeting you all,” Deanna told them.
“I just want to say thank you for keeping my brother safe,” Monique hugged Deanna.
“You’re welcome, Monique. I was only doing my job,” Deanna said.
“I know that,” Monique smiled.
Deanna said goodbye to all of them and Megan walked with her to the check-in counter. After checking in, it was time to say goodbye. Megan hated to say goodbye to her sister but Deanna was a grown woman and she had to decide for herself what to do.
“I will miss you,” Megan hugged her.
“I will miss you too. Are you mad at me for leaving?” Deanna asked.
“No, I am not mad. I am just asking you to think about what you are leaving behind and I am not talking about me,” Megan replied.
“I know who you mean but I blew my chance because of the job and now he has moved on,” Deanna said.
“Call me when you get back to New York,” Megan smiled at her.
“I will do that. Bye sis,” Deanna hugged her before she walked away.
Carlos and the others joined Megan and it was hard for her to see Deanna walking away. They waited until she was out of sight before they left the airport. They decided to grab something to eat before going home.
It was almost 2 pm when Séb returned home. He was putting away the groceries when Linda joined him in the kitchen and she decided to tell him about Deanna as soon as possible.
“Deanna was here to pick up her things,” Linda told him.
“Good. Then I won’t have to see her again,” Séb said without looking at Linda.
“She loves you, Séb. You should have seen the look on her face when I opened the door. She looked sad and it told me that she does have very strong feelings about you. If you really do love her, I suggest you get into your car and drive to the airport,” Linda said.
“Why? She may love me but she loves her job more,” Séb looked at Linda.
“You are a fool, Sébastien. She loves you. Trust me on this one. Go to the airport now,” Linda raised her voice.
Séb looked at her before running out of the door. He got into his car and drove to the airport. When he got to the airport, he ran over to one of the counters and asked about the flight to New York. The young woman at the counter informed him that the plane had just taken off. She could see the disappointment on his face and she asked him the name of the passenger he was looking for. Séb told her the name and a few minutes later, she informed him that Deanna Kendall was one of the passengers on the plane. He thanked the woman before he walked over to the seats and sat down, running his fingers through his hair.
‘Come on, Sébastien. You love her and you know what you have to do’ a voice inside his head said. Suddenly he stood and walked back to the counter.
“I would like to book a ticket on the next plane to New York,” Séb told the woman as he took out his credit card.

Deanna woke up when she heard a voice announcing that the plane would be landing in New York soon. She had been doing a lot of thinking on the flight from London to New York and Megan’s words echoed in her mind. The plane landed in JFK on time and Deanna got off the plane with the other passengers and they walked to the baggage reclaim to get their suitcases. Twenty minutes later Deanna stepped out of the airport and she took out her phone and dialed Johnny’s number.
“Johnny Patterson speaking,” Johnny’s voice said.
“Hi Johnny, it’s Deanna. I am back in New York and I really need to see you asap,” Deanna said.
“You’re back in New York? What about the job in London?” Johnny asked.
“The job is done. I did what I was paid to do and now I am back,” Deanna replied.
“How are you doing?” Johnny questioned, even though he knew about her being shot.
“I’m ok. A bit sore but that happens after you get shot,” Deanna answered.
“I know about you being shot. Simon called me on the night you were shot. I’m glad you’re still alive and I can’t wait for you to work here again,” Johnny told her.
“That is what I need to talk to you about, Johnny. Today if possible,” Deanna said.
“Ok, I am still in the office so you can just over,” Johnny agreed.
“I just arrived at the airport and I would like to go home first. I will be in your office in half an hour,” Deanna said to him.
“I’ll be waiting. See you soon,” Johnny said and hung up the phone.
Deanna hung up and hailed a cab. She climbed into the cab and gave the address to the cab driver when he got into the car after putting her suitcase into the trunk. Shortly after she was on her way home but she wasn’t happy about it. It didn’t feel right to be back in New York without Megan and it would take some time for her to get used to not having Megan around. Well, it had been her own decision and she had to live with it.
Deanna arrived at her apartment and she quickly unlocked the door and stepped inside. She looked at the time and it was almost half past five but she didn’t want to visit Johnny before she had a shower. Deanna walked into the bathroom and undressed as she let the hot water heat up the tiles. She stepped into the shower and let the hot water caress her body. After finishing her shower, Deanna put on a black skirt, a black top and a pink jacket before picking up her keys and leaving her apartment. A few minutes later she arrived at the parking garage and after climbing into her car, she drove off to her meeting with Johnny.
Meanwhile Séb was only a few hours away from New York. As he sat there on the plane it occurred to him that he had no idea where to find Deanna in New York as he didn’t have an address. He would have to call Carlos as soon as he arrived at JFK Airport and hopefully Megan would give him the address. The closer the plane got to New York, the more nervous Séb got. He had no doubts that he was making the right decision and it would be difficult for Deanna to run away from him again but how would she react to him being there?
Deanna pulled up in front of Johnny’s office and she knew he wouldn’t like what she had to say but it was her final decision. She took a deep breath before she walked into the building. Deanna knocked on the door to his office and opened the door when she heard Johnny’s voice.
“Welcome back,” Johnny said with a smile.
“Thanks Johnny. It’s good to be home,” Deanna smiled back at him.
“I’m sure it is. I’m surprised your doctor allowed you to travel,” Johnny looked at her as he gestured for her to sit down.
“He didn’t. If he knew that I was going back to New York, he wouldn’t have released me,” Deanna laughed.
“Why didn’t you stay in London?” Johnny wanted to know.
“There was no need for me to stay there. The job was done,” Deanna reminded him.
“That’s true. So what did you want to talk about?” Johnny looked at her.
“You’re not going to like this but I’m resigning as of today. I’m done being a bodyguard, Johnny. When I was shot in London, it made me think and I’ve protected my last client,” Deanna replied.
“I understand. If you are serious about this then I will accept it,” Johnny told her.
“Thanks. It’s time for me to think about myself and my needs,” Deanna explained to him.
“If you ever change your mind, you’re more than welcome to come back to us,” Johnny informed her.
“I know that. Goodbye, Johnny,” Deanna said, placing her gun at the table.
“Goodbye Deanna,” Johnny reached out his hand to her.
Deanna shook his hand and left the office, feeling good about what she had done but she was angry at herself for not doing it earlier. If she had only called Johnny when she was in the hospital, Séb would have been a part of her life. Well, he had moved on and she only had herself to blame for that. Deanna didn’t feel like going home right away so she decided to take a walk to gather her thoughts. She walked around in New York and she saw a stunning dress in a window. After thinking about it for a few minutes she decided to take a closer look at the dress and she walked into the store and asked if she could try on the dress. The sales lady smiled at Deanna and told her that she would bring the dress to the dressing room. As promised the sales lady brought her the dress and as Deanna tried it on, she felt like something was missing. Normally when she tried on dresses, she always had Megan with her but now she was alone. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she thought about Séb and what he would say if he saw her in that dress. ‘Stop thinking about him, Deanna’ she said to herself as she took off the dress. She stepped out of the dressing room and purchased the dress before leaving the store.
As she walked back to her car, she remembered that she had made a promise to Megan about calling when she landed in New York. She had been so busy with Johnny and the meeting that she had completely forgotten all about it. Deanna took out her phone and dialed Megan’s number, hoping that she wasn’t too upset with her.
“Hi sis, it’s me. Sorry for not calling earlier but I had a meeting with Johnny,” Deanna explained when she heard Megan’s voice.
“It’s ok. I knew you would call me when you had time to do so. Why did you have a meeting with him?” Megan questioned.
“I quit my job, Megan. I’ve lost two guys because of my job and I won’t let it happen again,” Deanna answered, letting out a sigh.
“Do you want me to fly to New York?” Megan asked.
“No, you don’t have to do that. I will be fine. You have a new life in London,” Deanna replied.
“Ok. It’s getting late here but I will talk to you tomorrow. Love ya,” Megan said and hung up.
Deanna put away her phone and walked to her car. As she climbed into the car, she wondered what to do now. She was unemployed and she didn’t really have anything left for her in New York, so there was no need to stay. Megan was in London and she wanted to go back there but going back to London meant that she would have to see Séb and Linda together and she couldn’t deal with that. Letting out a sigh, she drove off not knowing what would happen next.
While Deanna had been shopping, Séb had arrived at JFK Airport and he immediately took out his phone and dialed Carlos’ number.
“Where have you been?” Carlos questioned as he answered the phone.
“Hello to you too, Carlos. I just needed some time to think,” Séb replied, hoping Carlos would settle for that.
“Sorry, but we have been worried about you. Where are you?” Carlos asked.
“I know and I’m sorry but I really needed some time to myself. I am calling from the airport and I need Deanna’s address in New York,” Séb responded.
“Have you lost your mind, Séb? You’re not thinking straight. Stay where you are and wait for us. Megan and I will be there soon,” Carlos told him.
“Thanks for the offer but I’m at JFK Airport,” Séb said and hung up.
“Are you ok?” Megan questioned Carlos who was staring at his phone.
“I’m fine but Séb has lost it,” Carlos replied.
“What do you mean?” Megan looked at him.
“He is in New York and he asked for Deanna’s address. The man is crazy,” Carlos told her.
“No, he is not crazy. Séb is in New York to win my sister’s heart. Now that’s love,” Megan smiled at him.
“You seem very happy about it but Séb will only get his heart broken again,” Carlos said.
“No, he won’t. Deanna can’t run away this time. She is trapped,” Megan laughed.
“I hope you’re right,” Carlos looked at her.
“I’m right. Now give me your phone. Séb needs Deanna’s address,” Megan held out her hand.
Reluctantly Carlos placed the phone in Megan’s hand and she dialed Séb’s number. When Séb answered the phone, Megan gave him Deanna’s address and wished him good luck before she hung up.
“Now we just have to wait for good news,” Megan returned the phone to Carlos.
Séb hailed a cab and he gave the cab driver the address. On the way to Deanna’s apartment, Séb wondered how she would react to him showing up and he really hoped that she would be there when he arrived. Before he knew it, the cab driver pulled up in front of the apartment building and stopped the car. Séb paid him and got out of the cab. He looked at the building in front of him and he took a deep breath as he stepped inside. Séb looked at the note in his hand and he walked over to the elevator and pushed the button for the second floor. When the doors opened, he walked towards Deanna’s apartment and knocked on the door.
As he stood there waiting for Deanna to open the door, he heard the elevator moving and shortly after the doors opened. He turned around and saw Deanna come out of the elevator but she didn’t see him because she was too busy finding her key. When she found the key, she looked up and saw Séb standing in front of her with a big smile on his face.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“I’m here to see you, Deanna. We need to talk,” Séb replied.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” Deanna said.
“I didn’t come all this way for nothing. The least you can do is talk to me,” Séb looked at her.
“Fine! Come on then,” Deanna opened the door.
Once they were inside, Deanna took off her coat and gestured for him to take a seat in the living room. Séb sat down after removing his coat and Deanna offered him something to drink. Séb asked for coffee and Deanna excused herself and disappeared into the kitchen. While she was gone, Séb took a closer look at her apartment and he couldn’t resist taking a look at her bedroom. When he heard Deanna calling out his name, he closed the door and returned to the living room.
“What were you doing?” Deanna asked as she handed him a cup of coffee.
“I was just checking out your apartment,” Séb answered truthfully.
“Ok. Well, I’m listening,” Deanna sat down and took a sip of her coffee.
“I want to talk about us. You and me,” Séb looked at her.
“There is no us. You should go back to London and Linda,” Deanna said.
“Linda? I think you’ve gotten the wrong idea. Linda is my friend. The apartment building she lives in is without hot water and she called me to ask if she could use my shower. I said yes and with her boyfriend being out of town, I invited her to stay for dinner,” Séb explained.
“What? When I saw her in your apartment wearing only a T-shirt, I thought something was going on between you and her,” Deanna said without looking at him.
“I do believe you’re jealous, miss Kendall,” Séb teased her.
“Don’t flatter yourself,” Deanna rose from the couch.
“You are jealous,” Séb got up and walked over to her.
“What do you want, Séb?” Deanna raised her voice, demanding an answer.
“I want you. I love you and I want to be with you. Right now I am not sure what your reasons are for not wanting to be with me. You said you didn’t belong in my world but you also say that you don’t want me to sit at home and worry if you will come home or not,” Séb said.
“Stop,” Deanna demanded.
“No. I have something to say and I want you to listen,” Séb looked at her.
“Séb, stop it,” Deanna repeated.
“No. You can speak when I’m done. I can live with you being a bodyguard and I won’t dump you like your ex. If I have to leave Il Divo to be with you, then that’s what I will do,” Séb told her.
“But you love being in Il Divo,” Deanna was stunned.
“I do love being in Il Divo but I love you more,” Séb confessed.
Deanna looked at him without saying anything. She was speechless. Séb had just told her that he was ready to give up Il Divo for her and she couldn’t even tell him that she loved him.
“I give up. I’m prepared to give up Il Divo for you and not even that is enough to convince you that I am ready to do anything to be with you. Guess I should leave. Goodbye Deanna,” Séb grabbed his coat and walked towards the door.
“I quit my job today,” Deanna told him.
“You did what?” Séb questioned as he turned around.
“I told my boss that I don’t want to be a bodyguard anymore. My ex dumped me because of the job and I can’t lose you too,” Deanna looked at him.
“What does that mean?” Séb asked.
“It means that I love you and I won’t let you go back to London without me,” Deanna replied.
Séb dropped his coat and walked over to her. He touched her face and smiled at her before he slowly moved his head towards hers. Deanna closed her eyes and a few seconds later, Séb’s lips made contact with hers. The kiss was sending shivers of delight through Deanna’s entire body and she locked her hands behind his neck as she returned the kiss.

In Carlos’ apartment in London, Megan was in her bed but she couldn’t sleep. She wondered what was going on in New York with Séb and Deanna. Megan knew how stubborn Deanna could be but with the info she had received from Deanna about the job, then maybe there was hope. Sighing she rose from the bed and walked into the kitchen to get something to drink. As she took a bottle of water from the fridge, she wondered if she should call Deanna and ask what was going on but the voice inside her head told her no. Deanna would call if she had something to say.
Megan turned off the light in the kitchen and was walking back to her room when Carlos came out of his room. He too had problems sleeping because he was just as worried as Megan. Séb was his friend and he couldn’t stand to see him getting hurt again. Megan looked at Carlos standing in front of her and she completely forgot about Deanna and Séb.
“I guess you couldn’t sleep either,” Carlos said.
“I’m thinking about my sister and Séb,” Megan sighed.
“So am I. I know you love your sister and I think she is a great person but I’m afraid she will break Séb’s heart if she turns him down again,” Carlos looked at her.
“I don’t think she will break his heart. Deanna quit her job because she didn’t want it to stand in the way of her finding happiness and she thought that Séb had moved on but now he is in New York to tell her he loves her. It has to work out for them,” Megan told him.
“We just have to wait and see what happens and we should get some sleep. Goodnight,” Carlos kissed her and walked back to his room.
Megan walked into her own room and climbed into bed. She wanted Carlos next to her but it was too soon to go to the next level. They had only been on one date and she wanted at least one more date before she was ready to sleep with Carlos. She turned off the light and slowly drifted off to sleep.
“What happens now?” Séb asked Deanna as he held her in his arms.
“I don’t know about you but I am starving,” Deanna replied with a smile.
“That is not what I am talking about. What happens now with us?” Séb kissed her.
“I say we stay in New York for a few days and then we go back to London. I have some things to take care of here,” Deanna looked at him.
“I like your idea but we have to tell everyone that we are staying in New York for a few days,” Séb said.
“Yes but not tonight. I am hungry and we can call them tomorrow,” Deanna smiled.
“You’re right. Let’s get something to eat,” Séb walked into the hallway to get Deanna’s coat.
Deanna joined him and Séb helped her put on her coat before they left the apartment. Séb was in the mood for pizza and Deanna took him to her favorite pizza place in New York. After placing their order, Séb and Deanna were talking about what would happen once they returned to London.
“Are you going to find a place of your own or will you stay with me at my place?” Séb asked, sipping his coke.
“You do have a nice guestroom so if you don’t mind I would like to stay with you,” Deanna replied, tilting her head.
“I don’t mind at all. I have to admit that something was missing when you were in the hospital,” Séb reached for her hand.
“Did you really miss me?” Deanna questioned.
“Yes, I did. In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been in love with you since the first day I saw you. You just have this ability to make people miss you when you’re not around,” Séb answered.
“I’m sorry about that,” Deanna smiled.
“Why don’t we get the food to go and get out of here?” Séb suggested.
“That sounds good to me,” Deanna said and called the waiter.
Shortly after he brought them their food and after paying for the food, Séb and Deanna went back to Deanna’s apartment and enjoyed their evening. After cleaning the dishes, Séb and Deanna returned to the living room and sat down on the couch. Deanna turned on the TV and she cuddled up to Séb as they watched a movie. It was difficult for Séb to focus on the movie because he had Deanna in his arms. He wanted to show her how much she meant to him and he thought it couldn’t hurt to try. Séb grabbed the remote control and turned off the TV before he looked at Deanna.
Without saying a word he pulled her close and kissed her deeply. He gently ran his hands over her shoulders and down her arms as he kissed her neck. Deanna loved what he was doing but she knew what he wanted to happen but she wasn’t ready for that. It was too soon and she was still in pain after being shot.
“Stop please,” Deanna said.
“What’s wrong?” Séb asked, looking at her.
“It’s too soon. I want to wait until we get back to London,” Deanna answered, hoping he wouldn’t be upset.
“I understand and it’s ok with me. I assume you want me to sleep on the couch tonight then,” Séb said.
“No, you can stay in Megan’s bedroom. I will just change the covers,” Deanna smiled at him.
Séb followed her into Megan’s old bedroom and he helped Deanna change the covers. He knew she shouldn’t do too much and he wanted her to be able to travel with him to London. After changing the covers, Séb kissed her goodnight and Deanna left the bedroom, closing the door behind her. She turned out the lights and walked into her own room. Deanna climbed into the bed and as she stared at the ceiling, she thought of the handsome man sleeping in Megan’s room. She closed her eyes and with a smile on her face she drifted off to sleep.
“Who was on the phone?” Monique asked David.
“It was Carlos. Séb called them yesterday from New York, asking for Deanna’s address,” David replied with a smile.
“That is true love. I hope everything worked out for him,” Monique smiled.
“So do I. You should get dressed. Carlos and Megan have invited us over to have breakfast with Charlene and Urs,” David said.
“Great but it won’t be the same without Séb and Deanna,” Monique sighed.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure we will get a chance to have breakfast with them too” David kissed her.
Monique disappeared into the bathroom while David got dressed. Half an hour later they were on their way to Carlos’ place. As they drove up in front of the building they spotted Urs and Charlene getting out of the car. The four friends greeted each other and walked up to Carlos’ apartment.
“Have you heard more from Séb?” Monique asked, hoping for more news.
“No we haven’t. I want so badly to call Deanna and ask what is going on but I don’t want to be nosey,” Megan replied.
“They will call us if they have any news they want to share,” Carlos smiled.
“Unless they want some privacy,” David said.
“You do have a point there. We just have to wait but at least we know that Séb is fine,” Urs joined in.
The four friends continued to talk during breakfast and they all agreed not to contact Deanna or Séb. After making plans for the day, they cleaned up and left the apartment and went to Megan’s studio to see what she had done with it. Megan wanted to make portraits of all of them and they all agreed to it. They spent most of the day at the studio and they had dinner at Carlos’ apartment.
“David and I have some news about the wedding. Saturday will be our big day and yes, it’s not a lot of notice but we want it done before you start rehearsals for the tour,” Monique informed them.
“What about planning?” Megan asked.
“Everything has been planned and I’ve made an appointment on Wednesday with the dress store about your dresses,” Monique looked at them.
“I can’t wait. Can you give us some details about the dresses?” Charlene asked.
“No, I want it to be a surprise. I hope that is ok with you,” Monique answered.
“Of course it’s ok. We can’t wait to see the dresses,” Megan told her.
Monique was happy to hear that and she hoped that Deanna would be able to join them. She couldn’t explain it but she wanted Deanna to be there with her on this big day. David took out the invitations and handed a copy to each couple and they all promised to be there. They talked about calling Séb to let him know about the wedding and Monique said she would do it since Séb was her brother. Monique excused herself before she walked into the living room to call Séb.
“Hello Monique,” Séb answered the phone.
“Hello stranger. Are you still in New York?” Monique asked him.
“Yes, I am still in New York and I am fine. Sorry for not calling but I needed some time alone to think,” Séb told her.
“I understand. How did things go with Deanna?” Monique wanted to know.
“I am still working on that part. She is a stubborn lady,” Séb lied.
“Oh ok. I just called to tell you that David and I will get married on Saturday,” Monique said to him.
“Don’t worry. I am leaving New York in a couple of days so I will be there,” Séb promised.
“If you bring Deanna back with you, I would appreciate it if you could be here by Wednesday morning our time as I’ve made an appointment with the dress store,” Monique told him.
“I will see what I can do but now I have to leave. Tell everyone that I am fine. Bye sis,” Séb said and hung up.
Deanna came out of the bathroom as Séb put down his phone. He looked at her with a smile and walked over to her and pulled her into his arms.
“Why are you smiling?” Deanna looked at him.
“My sister is getting married on Saturday and she wants us back in London Wednesday morning. Apparently she wants you to be a bridesmaid and you have to try on the dresses on Wednesday,” Séb answered.
“That means we have to leave tomorrow or Tuesday morning,” Deanna said.
“Tuesday morning will be fine. We have a busy day tomorrow,” Séb reminded her.
“I know,” Deanna sighed.
“Are you having second thoughts?” Séb questioned.
“No, I am not having second thoughts about going back to London but I didn’t think of how many things I have to take care of before I leave,” Deanna replied.
“Don’t worry. We will get it done. Let’s go for a walk,” Séb suggested.
Deanna nodded her head in agreement and they put on their coats before leaving the apartment. They walked around in New York and Deanna was saying goodbye the city she knew so well. She had both good and bad memories from this city but most of them were good. They walked by a flower shop and Séb excused himself and walked into the shop. As soon as he was gone, Deanna heard someone call out her name and she turned around to see her ex running towards her.
“Hello Deanna,” Jason said with a smile.
“Jason,” Deanna said, nodding her head,
“You look amazing. How are you?” Jason asked, trying to be charming.
“I’m fine, considering I was shot a week ago,” Deanna answered.
“So you’re still a bodyguard?” Jason looked at her.
“No, I quit my job and I am moving to London with my boyfriend,” Deanna replied.
“You didn’t want to quit your job for me but you did it for someone else. That hurts,” Jason said.
“I don’t care and it wasn’t just because of my boyfriend. My medical file is long and I just thought it was time for me to stop risking my life to save other people. It’s time for me to start thinking about myself and see what happens,” Deanna explained as Séb came out of the flower shop.
“Who is that?” Séb asked Deanna.
“Jason Lancaster, Deanna’s ex,” Jason replied, extending his hand.
“Sébastien Izambard, current boyfriend,” Séb said.
Jason looked at Séb without saying anything. He had hoped that Deanna’s boyfriend was some ugly guy but as he looked at Séb, he knew that any attempt he would make to get Deanna back would fail. There was no way he could compete with Séb and he said goodbye and left, leaving Deanna and Séb puzzled.
“What just happened?” Deanna looked at Séb.
“I don’t know and I don’t care. These are for you,” Séb responded, handing Deanna a bouquet of roses.
“They are beautiful but you didn’t have to do that,” Deanna kissed him.
“I know but I didn’t get you any flowers in the hospital,” Séb smiled.
They continued their tour around New York and they had dinner at a Chinese restaurant before they returned to Deanna’s apartment. The two of them cuddled up on the couch as they watched a movie. As the movie ended, Séb looked at Deanna and found her sound asleep. He turned off the TV and carried Deanna into her bedroom where he gently laid her down on the bed after removing the covers. Séb removed his T-shirt and pants and he then climbed into bed next to Deanna.
“Je t’aime,” he whispered before closing his eyes.

Deanna woke up in Séb’s arms the next morning and she looked at him sleeping next to her. He looked very handsome with his hair all messed up and she couldn’t resist the urge to reach out and touch his face. She gently outlined every inch of his face and she smiled when he opened his eyes and looked at her.
“Good morning,” Séb said.
“It sure is, although I am a bit sore. Guess travelling wasn’t such a good idea after all,” Deanna looked at him.
“I think you need to relax today. You stay here while I make breakfast,” Séb kissed her softly.
Reluctantly he rose from the bed and walked out of the bedroom. While he was gone, Deanna picked up her phone and called one of her close friends. Alan Barton was a successful lawyer who worked in his dad’s law firm in New York and he had been interested in buying Deanna’s apartment for a long time but Deanna had always told him no. Since she was moving to London to be with Séb, she no longer needed the apartment and that’s why she hoped that Alan would still be interested in buying it.
“Barton and Son, Patsy speaking,” a woman’s voice said.
“Hi, it’s Deanna Kendall. Is Alan in the office?” Deanna asked.
“He just arrived. I will put you through to him,” Patsy said, not hiding that she was annoyed by Deanna’s call.
“Thanks,” Deanna politely said.
Deanna knew that Patsy didn’t like her but there was nothing she could do about it. It wasn’t Deanna’s fault that Alan didn’t return Patsy’s feelings or maybe in a way it was. Deanna was aware of Alan’s feelings for her but he knew Deanna would never return his feelings and he had always accepted that.
“Hello my dear. How are you?” Alan’s cheerful voice suddenly asked.
“I’m fine but I really need to talk to you,” Deanna replied.
“I have an opening at 10 am,” Alan said.
“Good. We will be there. See you later,” Deanna hung up as Séb walked into the bedroom with breakfast.
“Was that Megan?” Séb questioned as he poured coffee.
“No it was an old friend of mine. We have a meeting with him in two hours,” Deanna answered his question.
“Who is this guy?” Séb looked at her.
“Alan is a lawyer and when Megan and I went to London, he offered to buy the apartment but I told him no. I won’t need the apartment anymore and if he is still interested, he can buy it. If I can take care of everything today, then we can be on a plane to London later today,” Deanna explained.
“What plane? How can you book tickets when you don’t know what time you’re ready to leave?” Séb asked.
“Alan’s dad owns a private jet and I just have to give him a call when I need to borrow the jet,” Deanna smiled.
“How close are you with this Alan?” Séb removed a strand of hair from her face.
“He is good friend, nothing more. Yes, he does have a huge crush on me but he is wasting his time and he knows that,” Deanna kissed him.
Séb wanted to take the next step but he had made a promise to her and he was going to keep it although it would be a challenge. They finished their breakfast and while Séb disappeared with the tray, Deanna took a shower. After finishing her shower and getting dressed, Deanna joined Séb in the kitchen. She told him that she would finish up in the kitchen while he got ready for the meeting with Alan. Half an hour later, they were on their way.
In London Megan was going crazy because she hadn’t heard anything from Deanna. She wanted so badly to find out what was going on but she had made a promise to the others about not calling Deanna. Why couldn’t Deanna call her? She just wanted to know if Deanna would be returning to London and what was wrong with that? They were sisters and there was nothing wrong with being concerned about your family. Megan picked up her phone and she was about to dial Deanna’s number when Carlos entered the room.
“Put the phone down,” he said to her.
“I can’t do that. She is my sister and I need to know that she is alright. We both know that it was a bad idea for her to travel when she hadn’t fully recovered,” Megan turned to look at him.
“I know you are concerned but that is really not the reason why you want to call her and we both know it. You’re just curious to find out how things are going with her and Séb but she will call you when she has news,” Carlos told her.
“You’re right but I just want my sister to be happy,” Megan sighed.
“You need to think of something else. Maybe you should start working on the picture you promised when we first met?” Carlos walked over to her.
“That sounds like a good idea but I won’t be able to do much today. I can take the pictures today and then you get to decide which one we use. It is easier to work with a picture than a real person. Just let me get my purse and we are out of here,” Megan smiled at him.
As soon as Megan had her purse, they left the apartment and went down to her studio where Megan took a lot of pictures of Carlos and when Carlos had picked out the one he liked, they picked up a cup of coffee and went for a walk. As they walked around in London, Carlos was making plans for the evening. He wanted to have a nice dinner at home with Megan and hopefully they could take the next step in their relationship. They returned to the apartment and Carlos told Megan of his plans, except for the last part of it. He didn’t want to force her into anything and if it was meant to happen, it would.
Deanna and Séb had arrived at the law firm and they were met by Patsy. You could feel the disgust that Patsy had for Deanna but Deanna wasn’t concerned about that. What did concern her was Patsy’s interest in Séb. She was flirting with Séb, running her hand down his chest and at some point it was just too much. Deanna grabbed Patsy’s hand and twisted it around, just enough to make Patsy understand.
“You’re hurting me,” Patsy said.
“That is what you get for flirting with my boyfriend. Keep your hands to yourself or I will break them. Do I make myself clear?” Deanna asked.
“Yes,” Patsy replied with pain showing in her face.
“Good. Now tell Alan that we are here,” Deanna let go of her.
Patsy went back to her desk and informed Alan that Deanna had arrived. A few minutes later Alan arrived and he looked at Patsy, then at Deanna before smiling. He knew that something had happened but he didn’t want to ask. Deanna greeted Alan and introduced him to Séb. They walked into Alan’s office and he gestured for them to sit down.
“So, what can I do for you?” Alan questioned.
“Megan is living in London with her boyfriend and I am moving to London with Sébastien so we won’t need the apartment anymore. I was hoping that you would still be interested in buying it,” Deanna replied.
“I am still interested in buying it and the offer still stands,” Alan said.
“Good. Then we just have to take care of the paper work and the apartment is yours,” Deanna smiled.
“When do you leave?” Alan looked at her.
“Well, that is another thing I need to talk to you about. We have to be back in London sometime tomorrow and I was hoping that we could borrow your dad’s jet,” Deanna said.
“I don’t think that would be a problem. Just let me know what time you will be at the airport and I will make sure the jet is there when you arrive,” Alan told her.
Deanna and Séb said goodbye and left the office. Alan had been really helpful and he had promised to take care of everything right away. Deanna still had other things to take care of before she could leave New York and Séb was with her all the way. He couldn’t wait to get back to London and start a new life with Deanna. As soon as Deanna had taken care of everything, they had lunch before they returned to the apartment to pack. Three hours later they were at the airport, getting on board the private jet to London. Deanna couldn’t wait to see Megan’s face when she showed up in London with all of their belongings.
Monique and David had spent most of the day trying to get everything ready for the wedding on Saturday. Due to some unforeseen events, they had been forced to change the color theme and they had to start over with decorations, suits and dresses. David was a lot calmer than Monique and he tried to calm her down too but it seemed like an impossible task. In her eyes the wedding had been ruined but David promised her that the wedding would be the same as they had planned, except for the colors. To make her relax, he had told her that he liked the new color better than the old one.
“I’m sorry but I just want our wedding to be special,” Monique sighed.
“Our wedding will be special no matter what color we use because we are marrying each other. The color is not what makes the wedding special, the love we have for each other is,” David pulled her into his arms.
“You always know what to say to make me feel better and that is one of the reasons why I love you,” Monique kissed him.
“I love you too. Now let’s get something to eat,” David smiled.
Monique followed him into the kitchen and they worked together making dinner and it turned out to be a good day after all.
Urs and Charlene had been talking about their wedding too but they couldn’t agree on a destination. Urs was hoping to get married in Switzerland and Charlene wanted to get married at the Dawson mansion because that was where her grandparents and her parents got married. Since they couldn’t agree on a destination, they just looked at suits, wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses and they didn’t have any problems agreeing on those things. They even agreed on the rings and hopefully they could agree on a destination.
“We still have time to figure something out,” Urs looked at Charlene.
“I know that but it would just mean a lot to me, just like getting married in Switzerland means a lot to you. What if we got married at my parents’ mansion and then had the honeymoon in Switzerland?” Charlene suggested.
“That would be an option but we could get married in Switzerland and then have the honeymoon at,” Urs started to say but he was interrupted by Charlene.
“No! I love my parents but there is no way that I will spend my honeymoon at their mansion,” Charlene looked at him.
“I’m glad you said that. I like your parents but I don’t think I could spend two weeks with them,” Urs smiled.
“We don’t have to agree on that tonight. May I suggest that we go out and get something eat?” Charlene smiled back.
“I like that idea,” Urs kissed her softly.
Carlos was cooking while Megan was setting the table. She had turned on the music and Carlos could hear her singing in the dining room. With a smile on his face he carried the food into the dining room and placed it on the table, announcing that dinner was served. Megan joined him at the table and the two of them enjoyed the dinner and each other’s company.
“I’ve made a decision, Carlos,” Megan looked at him.
“A decision about what?” he questioned, taking a sip of his coke.
“If I don’t hear anything from Deanna tomorrow, I will call her and ask what is going on,” Megan said.
“Can we not talk about your sister tonight?" Carlos stabbed the piece of meat on his plate with his fork.
"Deanna is the only family I have left and I am worried about her," Megan was irritated with Carlos manner.
"I understand that, but you seem more concerned with Deanna's maybe boyfriend than you are with me. I want to know what is happening too but I want us to enjoy dinner without thinking of Deanna or Séb. Whatever Séb and Deanna are doing; yelling at each other, making love, adopting a kitten, bathing a duck, they are spending time together. I want to spend time with you, just me and you,” Carlos pleaded as he reached his hand out to her.
“You're right. I won’t say another word about them,” Megan promised holding Carlos' hand in hers.
“Good. Then we can eat,” he smiled.
“This smells delicious. What did you make?" she deeply inhaled the aroma of her dinner.
"It’s a family secret. My mom will be mad if I told you but don't worry you will find out one day. I promised my mom that I would only reveal the secret to my wife," Carlos took a bite of his meal.
"Oh okay," she started to eat her meal but then became aware of what Carlos had said and she just stared at him.
“What’s wrong?” Carlos asked, putting down his fork.
"Did you just say wife?" Megan looked at him.
"Que? Carlos asked.
"You said wife. I have known you for four weeks. Don't you think we should be together a bit longer before we talk about marriage?" Megan told him.
"Logically, I know you are right. Emotionally, however, I feel it in my heart that we are to be together. Can you honestly tell me that you never once thought about marrying me? Having someone call out Mrs. Marin and have it be you," he kissed her hand.
"I have thought about it; a lot actually," she admitted.
"Then, Megan Kendall, do you promise to accept my proposal when I ask?" he got down on one knee.
"Carlos, be serious," Megan told him.
"I am being serious. I love you," he pulled her to her feet and captured her lips in the tender, yet fiery kiss.
"Carlos," she pulled away
"Tell me, my angel, say those words to me. Say them for me," Carlos lightly touched her face with the tips of his finger.
"I love you too. I knew I loved you before I met you,” she touched his face.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"From the moment I first saw you on television, I knew you were the man for me but everyone I spoke to about it said Carlos would never go for you. He wants a model or a singer or an actress," she avoided his gaze.
"Well, only Carlos knows what Carlos wants. And right now, I want to dance with the woman I love," he offered her his hand.
"What about the dinner?" she asked.
"It's always better reheated," he looked at her.
Megan looked into his eyes as they danced and she could see the love in his eyes. Before she had a chance to do anything he kissed her deeply and they completely forgot about the music.

”It feels good to be home,” Séb said as he closed the door to the apartment.
“Yes it does,” Deanna agreed as she put down her suitcase.
“Are you really sure this is what you want?” Séb asked her.
“What do you mean?” Deanna looked at him.
“I mean….are you sure you want to live here with me?” Séb questioned.
“I’m sure but it sounds like you’re having doubts about me living here. Don’t worry, I will find somewhere else to stay,” Deanna said, grabbing her suitcase.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that,” Séb apologized as he grabbed her arm.
“Then what did you mean?” Deanna asked.
“I just wanted to make sure that this is what you really want. Us living together,” Séb took the suitcase from her.
“It is what I want,” Deanna looked at him.
“Then we agree. Now it’s time for you to unpack and I will take care of some breakfast,” Séb kissed her.
Deanna picked up her suitcase and walked into her bedroom to unpack while Séb went into the kitchen to make breakfast for them. Séb had hoped that Deanna would agree to stay in his room but he knew that he had to be patient with her. She would let him know when she was ready to take their relationship to a new level and their relationship was still new. He couldn’t deny that he wanted to show her how much he loved her but Deanna was the kind of woman who wanted it to be special and he would have to think about that.
After unpacking her things, Deanna joined Séb in the kitchen. He had finished breakfast and as she sat down at the table, he poured some coffee for them. Séb looked at Deanna as she sipped her coffee and he thought that maybe he should arrange a romantic dinner for the two of them and just see what happens.
“What are you thinking of?” Deanna questioned, looking at him.
“I was just thinking of calling the others to let them know that we’re both back in London,” Séb took her hand in his and kissed it.
“We should tell them but it’s not even 7 am,” Deanna pointed out to him.
“You’re right. Let’s enjoy our breakfast and call them later,” Séb agreed.
After enjoying their breakfast and clearing the table, Deanna told Séb that she wanted to rest for a while and Séb felt the same way. He too was tired from the trip and a nap couldn’t hurt. Deanna walked into the bedroom and changed into something more comfortable as Séb walked into his own bedroom. He had just climbed into bed when there was a knock on the door. It didn’t take him long to get out of bed and open the door to see his girlfriend standing there.
“Can I take my nap here?” she asked.
With a smile on his face, Séb took her hand and kissed it before he led her over to bed. He knew nothing would happen but just having Deanna sleeping in his arms was enough for him. They climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other’s arms.
Carlos woke up to see Megan sleeping in his arms and his mind drifted back to the night before. One thing had led to another and they had taken their relationship to a new level. He wanted to get up and start breakfast, but she was sleeping so soundly that he didn't want to disturb her.
"Morning Carlos," she blinked her eyes to adjust them to the morning light.
"Morning! Is there anything you would like to do today?" he kissed her forehead.
"Do you have work stuff to do today?" she asked.
"Nope, I am all yours," he said.
"Great. How about we prepare breakfast and see where the day takes us?" she grabbed his robe and put it on.
"Yes, and perhaps talk about the room situation. After last night, I thought maybe we can move you out of the guest room," he threw on his boxers.
"Oh," she stopped at the door.
"The way I see it, you are already living with me; but now you will be my live-in girlfriend," he walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.
"I love that idea but we need to do something with that room," she turned to face him.
"Food first, room planning later," he led her to the bathroom.
After showering and getting dressed, Carlos and Megan headed to the kitchen. They both decided that today’s breakfast would be scrambled eggs, ham, waffles, orange juice and coffee. The coffee was Megan's favorite flavor; hazelnut.
"I don't know what to do with the extra room," Carlos said.
"Keep it as a spare. We might need a room in case we have a friend visiting,” Megan suggested.
"Very true," Carlos drank some juice.
"Can we visit a pet shelter? I'd like to adopt a puppy," she said as they put the dishes in the dishwasher.
"Sure. I love dogs. I had a dog; but she was my ex's" he told her, walking into the living room.
Since both of them agreed on that, they grabbed their jackets and headed out the door. Megan didn't know why she suggested getting a puppy but it seems like the right thing to do.
It was just after 10 when Deanna woke up. She slipped out of Séb’s embrace and walked into the bathroom to have her shower. As she was showering, she wondered when it was appropriate for her and Séb to move to the next step. Their relationship was still new but it just felt right and there was nothing wrong with giving yourself to the person you loved. Deanna finished her shower and walked into her own bedroom to get dressed for the day.
After getting dressed, she walked into Séb’s bedroom to find him still sleeping. She gently closed the door and walked into the living room to call Megan and tell her that they were back. Deanna dialed Megan’s number and as she waited for Megan to pick up, Séb walked into the living room. He winked at her before he turned around and disappeared into the hallway.
“Please tell me that you’re in London,” Megan begged, answering her phone.
“Hello to you too,” Deanna said.
“I’m sorry sis. Hello. Now tell me that you’re in London,” Megan repeated.
“I’m in London and I’m staying with Séb in his apartment and yes, we are a couple,” Deanna explained.
“That’s so great. Things are great here too. Carlos and I are getting a dog,” Megan told her.
“Sounds like things are getting serious between the two of you. I’m happy for you. You deserve to be happy,” Deanna said.
“It just feels so right and last night we took the next step,” Megan said.
“We all knew it would happen but speaking of that, I’m not sure of what to do with Séb. A part of me wants to take the next step but the other part tells me it’s too soon for that,” Deanna sighed.
“I think you should listen to the other part of you. The two of you just got together and there is no need to rush things. We both know that you want to get to know him better before you take the next step and that is the way it should be. When the time is right, it will happen but don’t rush things,” Megan advised.
“You’re right. Thanks sis,” Deanna said.
“You’re welcome. I have to leave now but I will call you later,” Megan hung up.
Deanna hung up the phone and she thought of what Megan had told her. It would happen when the time was right and it wasn’t right yet. Séb walked into the living room and he looked at Deanna and wondered what was on her mind. It seemed like it was something important but he wasn’t sure if he should ask her. Séb joined her on the couch and he took her hand as he looked at her.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked.
“Us. Do you think we are sending a wrong message to each other or that I am sending the wrong message to you by sharing a bed but not doing more than that?” Deanna replied, looking at him.
“No. Where is this coming from? We wanted to be close; there is nothing wrong with that," Séb looked at her.
"But, most guys would think that since I shared his bed he should be able to do what he wants,” Deanna told him, biting her lip.
“Ok, I won’t deny that I want to make love to you but it won't mean anything if you only give yourself to me because it's what I want. It has to be a mutual decision. If you want us to take things slow, then that’s what we will do. I love you and I’m not going anywhere,” Séb put his arm around her and pulled her close.
He gently touched her face before he placed his lips on hers in an intoxicating kiss. Deanna pulled away before things got out of control and she knew it would be difficult to resist the temptation but she had to. Séb felt the same way but he would respect her wishes and give her time.
“Don’t you think you should call Monique?” Deanna questioned.
“I completely forgot about that. I will do it right now,” Séb replied.
Séb smiled at her as he picked up his phone and called the guys and Monique to tell them that he was back in London with Deanna. They were all happy to hear that Deanna had come back with him and Monique now had all of her bridesmaids for the wedding. David suggested that they all met at his place for dinner at 6.30 pm and even though Séb and Deanna were both tired, they agreed to meet up with the others.
“So, what should we do now?” Séb asked.
“I don’t know. We could go for a walk and have lunch somewhere,” Deanna suggested.
“Now that sounds like a good plan,” Séb smiled as he rose from the couch.
They put on the coats and left the apartment. As soon as they were out in the street, Séb took Deanna’s hand in his and let his fingers entwine with hers. Deanna didn’t object or pull away from him and it was a good feeling. It was not something he had ever done with Lucy because she had always pulled away from him when he tried to show affection in public. They walked around in London and had lunch before they returned to the apartment.
At David’s place, he and Monique were getting ready for dinner with their friends. They couldn’t wait to share their surprise with their friends and they hoped that everyone would be ok with it. As she was getting dressed, Monique looked at the ring on her finger and she couldn’t believe that soon she would be Mrs. David Miller. A smile appeared on her face as David walked into the bedroom. He looked so handsome in his casual clothes and she couldn’t believe that the wonderful man in front of her would become her husband in a few days.
“You look happy,” David walked over to her.
“I am happy. I’m getting married to the man I love, I’ve got great friends and my brother is with the woman he loves,” Monique smiled at him.
“Do you think they will be surprised when we tell them where the wedding will take place?” David asked as he pulled her close.
“They will expect us to get married here,” Monique replied.
“You’re right about that. Well, it won’t hurt them to see something else,” David flashed his smile.
“Our guests will be arriving soon,” Monique told him.
“I know that,” David sighed.
Monique kissed him before leaving the bedroom. David followed her and Monique set the table while David took care of the drinks. It was twenty minutes later when Séb and Deanna arrived and Monique greeted both of them with big hugs. Shortly after, Urs and Charlene arrived, followed by Carlos and Megan. After greeting his guests, David walked into the kitchen to get the drinks and he returned shortly after.
“Now that we are all here, I would like to say a few words before we eat. As you all know, Monique and I are to be married this Saturday but we haven’t told you where the wedding will be held and this is the perfect time to tell you. We will meet at Heathrow Airport on Thursday where Simon’s private jet will fly us to Denver,” David informed them.
“When are we going back to London?” Carlos wanted to know.
“Well, we thought you guys could use a little vacation in Denver and that’s why we have booked the hotel rooms for a week. Simon will tell you more about what time you leave Denver,” Monique replied.
“And when do we have to be at the airport on Thursday?” Urs looked at David.
“We meet at 10 am,” David answered the question.
“That sounds good to me. I love weddings,” Charlene said.
“I think we all do,” Deanna looked at the girls who nodded their heads.
“Let’s talk more over dinner. Excuse me,” David said and left the living room.
Monique led them into the dining room and as they sat down, David brought in the food. They talked about the wedding as they enjoyed the food and the girls couldn’t wait to try on their dresses the next day. Everyone was looking forward to spending a week in Denver and of course they were looking forward to the wedding. It was just after midnight when the other Divo couples said goodbye and went home.

It was the day before they had to leave for Denver and the girls were on their way to the dress store to try on the bridesmaid dresses. The guys were in a store further down the street, trying on their suits and they would all meet up for lunch before heading home to relax and pack their things. The girls arrived at the dress store and they were met by Michelle Sanders who was the owner of the store. She bid them welcome to her store and offered some champagne before they tried on the dresses. Michelle excused herself and returned shortly after with the dresses.
“Who wants to go first?” she asked the girls.
“I can do that,” Deanna replied with a smile.
“Follow me,” Michelle smiled back and led Deanna into a dressing room.
Deanna quickly undressed and put on the bridesmaid dress before turning the attention to her reflection in the mirror. When Michelle had shown them the dresses, Deanna thought that the color was all wrong for her but as she looked at herself in the mirror, she changed her mind. The dress fit perfectly and the color wasn’t really that bad. As far as Deanna was concerned, no changes had to be made on the dress but maybe Michelle was better at seeing these things. With a smile on her face, Deanne left the dressing room and joined the girls.
“So, how do I look?” Deanna questioned, looking at them.
“You look stunning. That color looks good on you,” Monique smiled.
“I agree and it doesn’t look like we have to change anything on the dress,” Michelle told Deanna.
Deanna returned to the dressing room and took off her dress. As she turned and looked at her reflection in the mirror, she noticed all of her scars and suddenly she felt disgusted by her own body. She quickly got dressed and shook her head to get the images of her own body out. Deanna handed the dress to Michelle and walked into the room where the other girls were waiting.
Charlene and Megan tried on their dresses at the same time, leaving Monique and Deanna alone. They talked and laughed as they enjoyed the champagne but Monique knew that something was bothering Deanna but she didn’t want to start asking questions.
“I don’t think I ever thanked you for saving Séb’s life,” Monique said.
“You’re welcome but I was only doing what I was paid to do,” Deanna told her.
“I know that but I’m still thankful for what you did and I’m glad the two of you are together. From the moment you walked into the apartment that day, I knew that the two of you were meant for each other and I couldn’t have asked for a better sister in law,” Monique hugged Deanna.
Megan and Charlene joined them and no changes had to be made on their dresses either. Monique beamed when Michelle brought her the wedding dress and she couldn’t wait to try it on after the changes. She followed Michelle into the dressing room and shortly after, she returned and the girls just stared at her. Monique looked beautiful in the dress and they all knew that David would be speechless when she walked down the aisle at the wedding.
Meanwhile the guys were trying on their suits and they all looked very handsome in the suits. As David looked at his friends, he knew they had chosen the right suits. This color was a lot better than the one they had decided on at first and as he looked at his friends, he was happy they had to change the color. After finishing getting the suits fitted, the guys left the store and joined David at the jewelry store to pick up the wedding rings. David had designed the rings himself and he couldn’t wait to see Monique’s face when she saw the rings for the first time. He really hoped she would love them. After paying for the rings, the guys decided to grab some coffee before meeting the girls.
The girls were getting ready to leave the dress store but Deanna had to use the bathroom and she followed Michelle into the back of the store. As the girls were waiting for her to return, Cathrine walked into the store and she seemed to know that Monique was there because she walked straight over to her. Monique was not happy to see Cathrine but she didn’t want to start a big fight now.
“What are you doing here?” Monique looked at her with anger in her eyes.
“I came to London to participate in Lucy’s funeral and I’m a bit surprised that none of you were there. She was Séb’s ex and I really think he should have been there,” Cathrine replied.
“Are you out of your mind? She tried to kill him twice and you expect him to show up at her funeral?” Monique angrily asked.
“Lucy would never do something like that. She loved Séb and she would never do anything to hurt him. I don’t know why you believe such lies,” Cathrine answered.
“It’s not lies. Lucy shot my sister because she was the only thing standing in the way of her getting to Séb and you are partly to blame for my sister getting shot,” Megan told her.
“Who are you?” Cathrine looked at her.
“The name is Megan Kendall and Deanna is my sister,” Megan took a step forward.
“I don’t mean to be rude or anything but who is Deanna?” Cathrine asked.
“I’m Deanna. I do believe we’ve met before,” Deanna answered the question.
Cathrine turned around and it was obvious to everyone that she was surprised to see Deanna standing in front of her. She wasn’t sure of what to do or say because she didn’t want them to find out that she was the one who had leaked the information to Lucy. Little did she know that they already knew about that part.
“You seem surprised to see me alive,” Deanna looked at Cathrine.
“I am surprised to see you because I got the impression that you were going back to New York when your job was done,” Cathrine replied.
“That was the plan but I had to change my plan because of Lucy,” Deanna wanted to smack her.
“Yes, your sister told me that Lucy shot you. Are you ok?” Cathrine said, trying to be sympathetic.
“Don’t pretend like you care. You are the one who told Lucy who I was,” Deanna raised her voice.
“I didn’t say anything to anyone. Why do you think it was me?” Cathrine asked.
“Because you are the only person outside of Divo world who knew that I was Séb’s bodyguard. You put my life and Séb’s life in danger,” Deanna replied, taking a step towards Cathrine.
“I haven’t done anything. I love Séb and I would never do anything to put him in danger,” Cathrine said.
They all looked at her, then at each other and Cathrine knew that she had said too much. She wanted to get out of the store but she knew they would not let her go until she told them the truth. Megan could see that Deanna was beyond angry and she told Monique to take Deanna outside to cool off. Monique did as requested and as soon as they left the store, Megan turned to Cathrine.
“Listen to me and listen very carefully. I want you to stay out of our lives because you don’t belong there. Séb is with Deanna and if you do anything to split them up, I will personally split you in two. Do I make myself clear?” Megan said, pushing Cathrine up against the wall.
“Yes, I got the message. Can I go now?” Cathrine looked at Megan.
Megan let go of her and Cathrine left the store without saying a word. They followed her and made sure that she was gone before they walked to the diner to meet the guys. As they walked to the diner, David called to ask if they were on their way and Monique informed him they would be there in a few minutes. About two minutes later, they walked into the diner and joined the guys at the table.
After ordering the food, they talked about how their morning had been and Monique told them about Cathrine being at the dress store. The guys couldn’t believe that Cathrine had acted like she was innocent and Séb was shocked to hear that Cathrine was in love with him. She was Carlos’ ex and she was married. How could she even think that he would even consider dating her? Besides, he had the woman of his dreams sitting next to him and there was no way that he would ever let her go.
Deanna was having a hard time keeping up with the conversation and she didn’t say much during lunch. Her mind was somewhere else and she couldn’t wait to go back to the apartment and relax. Both Séb and Megan had noticed that Deanna was in deep thought but they thought it had to do with Cathrine. They would have been surprised if they knew what was really on Deanna’s mind.
It was about two hours later when the Divo couples left the diner and returned to their homes to pack and relax for the rest of the day. They couldn’t wait to spend a week in Denver and of course they were all looking forward to the wedding.
Deanna was in her bedroom, trying to figure out what clothes to bring. She found the dress she had bought in New York and she couldn’t decide if she should bring the dress. Deanna knew that if she brought the dress, she probably wouldn’t need it but she also knew that she would regret it if she didn’t bring it. She put the dress into her suitcase and continued to pack as there was a knock on the door.
“You don’t have to knock before you enter,” Deanna said when Séb walked into her room.
“Yes I do. I don’t want to risk walking in on you….well, you know,” Séb looked at her.
“That’s very considerate of you,” Deanna smiled at him.
“I know. How are you?” Séb asked as he walked over to her.
“I’m fine. Why do you ask?” Deanna looked at him.
“At the diner you seemed like you were far away and I just want to make sure that you’re ok,” Séb pulled her into his arms.
“Oh that. It was nothing. Don’t worry about it,” Deanna kissed him.
“Ok. What do you want for dinner?” Séb asked, removing a strand of hair from her face.
“I don’t know. Surprise me,” Deanna smiled.
Séb kissed her and walked out of the room, leaving Deanna alone to finish packing. She watched him close the door and she felt bad for not telling Séb the truth but she couldn’t tell him why she was upset at the diner. It had nothing to do with Cathrine and it had nothing to do with Séb. Deanna herself was the problem and yes, it might be a stupid thing to worry about but she couldn’t change how she felt. She finished packing and walked into the living room to relax with her boyfriend and a cup of coffee.
Carlos was standing by the window when Megan came out of the bedroom after packing her things. He hadn’t said anything since they came back and he didn’t have to. Megan knew that it had come as a surprise to him that Cathrine was in love with Séb and she knew how he must feel. Finding out that your ex was in love with your best friend was something you didn’t want to hear and Carlos was no exception. He couldn’t stop thinking that maybe Cathrine chose to be with him because she couldn’t have the man she really wanted. Why was he thinking of that? He had a beautiful woman by his side, a woman who would never leave him or cheat on him and he shouldn’t think about the past. He had to think about the future now and his future was with Megan. She was the woman of his dreams.
Megan walked into the kitchen to get something to drink and Carlos joined her shortly after. He just wanted to forget what had happened and not worry about it anymore. Carlos wrapped his arms around Megan and kissed her neck. Smiling, she turned around and looked at him. Without saying a word, Carlos took her hand and led her into the bedroom where he showed her there was only one woman for him.
Urs and Charlene spend the rest of day planning their own wedding. Charlene had suggested that they could postpone the wedding until after the tour but Urs had told her no. If they couldn’t get married before the tour, they would get married on tour. He had been looking at the tour schedule and even though it was a rather tight schedule, he had found one weekend after the first month where they might be able to have the wedding. He would have to discuss this with Simon and the tour manager but he didn’t see any problems with it.
They wouldn’t get married in Switzerland and they wouldn’t get married at the Dawson manor. No, they had found the perfect place for the wedding and they knew it would come as a big surprise to the guests but this was what they both wanted. All they had to do was choose the outfits, the rings, send out the invitations and they would have plenty of time for that in Denver.
“May I suggest that we just order some food tonight?” Urs looked at Charlene.
“That sounds good but what should we do until then?” Charlene questioned, running her hand down Urs’ chest.
“I have an idea,” Urs pulled her close and kissed her passionately.
Monique was packing while David was checking their emails. When he saw an email from Monique’s aunt and uncle, he knew it was bad news. He opened the email and it was bad news, just as he had expected. Monique would be devastated to her that they were not coming and he wasn’t sure of how to tell her. David rose from the chair and walked into the bedroom where Monique had finished packing their suitcases. She turned around and she instantly knew that something was wrong.
“I know that look. How bad is it?” Monique asked.
“Your aunt and uncle can’t make it to the wedding,” David walked over to her.
“What? He was supposed to walk me down the aisle,” Monique looked at him.
“I know. Maybe we should ask Séb to do it?” David suggested.
“No, Séb is your best man. Do you think your dad would be interested?” Monique asked him.
“I think my dad would love to walk you down the aisle. Let’s call him right now,” David kissed her before they walked into the living room.
David picked up his phone and called his parents. He explained the situation to his parents and after talking to them for about 10 minutes, he hung up and looked at Monique with a smile. Monique let out a sigh of relief and she hoped that nothing else would go wrong now. She just wanted the perfect wedding with friends and family.
“I will make sure you get the best wedding ever. That is my promise to you,” David pulled her close.
“Thanks,” Monique kissed him.
“You’re welcome. Why don’t you take a nice, warm bath while I start dinner?” David looked at her.
“That sounds like a good idea. Call me when dinner is ready,” Monique said before disappearing.
David watched her leave and he couldn’t wait to make her his wife. With a smile on his face, David walked into the kitchen and started cooking dinner for the two of them.

It was just around noon when the plane landed in Denver. As they were waiting for their baggage, David told his friends that he had arranged for two cars to drive all of them to Della Terra Mountain Chateau which would be their home for the next week. It was the work of Pam and Darell Amelang, Marty and Audrey Miller and Sandy Garcia (Pam, Marty and Sandy being brother and sisters), all Colorado natives who wanted a perfect location for their romantic venue.
“I love this place already,” Megan said as they drove up to the chateau.
“So do I. This is perfect and I’m sure we will have a great time here,” Deanna added, looking at Séb.
Séb just smiled at her without saying anything. He had something planned for the two of them and hopefully she would love it but it had to wait until after the wedding because that was the most important thing right now. His baby sister was getting married to his best friend and he didn’t want to ruin the big day. When the cars stopped, they got out and grabbed their bags before they walked into the chateau.
“Hello Sandy,” David said to the woman at the counter.
“David Miller. You look good as always. Welcome to Della Terra and congratulations,” Sandy smiled at him.
“Thanks Sandy. It’s been a while. How is business?” David looked at her.
“Business is great and we can’t complain. We’ve been busy and we’ve added a few new rooms,” Sandy replied with a smile.
“That sounds good. I want you to meet the future Mrs. David Miller, Monique Izambard,” David said as he pulled Monique close.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Monique,” Sandy reached out her hand.
“You too. I can’t believe we’re finally here,” Monique shook her hand.
“I’m sure you will have a good time here and your wedding will be perfect,” Sandy smiled.
“Did it work out with the rooms?” David questioned Sandy.
“Yes, you have the rooms you requested. Megan and Carlos will be in the Dawn room on the upper floor, Urs and Charlene will be in the Reflection room on the lower floor along with Deanna and Séb who will be in the Caress room and finally you and Monique will be in the Blossom room here on the main floor,” Sandy replied as she handed them the room keys.
“The Caress room. I like that name,” Séb winked at Deanna.
Deanna rolled her eyes which made the other couples laugh. Sandy gave them a leaflet with information before David told his friends to meet him and Monique in the snack room on the upper level ten minutes later because they wanted to tell them more about their plans. The Divo couples agreed and walked to their rooms to freshen up before they had to meet David and Monique.
The Blossom Room - Monique & David
The Caress Room - Deanna & Séb
The Dawn Room - Megan & Carlos
The Reflection Room - Charlene & Urs
Ten minutes later, all four Divo couples met at the snack room and David informed them of what would happen during the next few days. They couldn’t eat dinner at the Della Terra but he knew of a great restaurant nearby and he had booked at table for all of them and they would meet in the lodge room on the main floor at 6 pm. He told them that they would have a rehearsal ceremony and rehearsal dinner the next day at the Della Terra and he would give them more info later.
Finally he told them what would happen Saturday. The girls would meet in David’s room and the guys would meet in Séb’s room to get dressed for the wedding and then meet up at the ceremony area. After passing on the info, David and Monique excused themselves because they had to meet their wedding planner, Pam, to talk about decorations etc. As soon as they were gone, the other Divo couples decided to return to their rooms to unpack and relax after the trip.
“This is a great place. I’m glad David decided to let us stay here for a week. I mean, just look at the view. It’s so breathtaking,” Deanna said, looking out of the window.
“It sure is and I’m sure we will have a great time here, Cherie,” Séb agreed as he wrapped his arms around her.
“I can’t wait to try out that outdoor tub,” Deanna looked at him.
“We can do it right now if you want,” Séb whispered in her ear.
“You know we can’t do that. I’m sorry for doing this to you all the time. Maybe I shouldn’t stay here with you,” Deanna slipped out of his embrace.
“We already had that conversation and it’s not a problem. We can wait until you’re ready to go there,” Séb told her.
“But you,” Deanna started to say but Séb stopped her.
“Yes, I want to be with you but not like this. I love you and I’m not going anywhere,” Séb pulled her close and kissed her.
“I just feel bad about not giving you what you want,” Deanna sighed.
“I know but I’m a grown man and I wouldn’t be here with you if I wasn’t willing to wait,” Séb looked at her.
Deanna looked at him and she could see that he meant every word. It would happen when the time was right and she hoped that the time would be right while they were here. They unpacked their bags and decided to take a closer look at the place. When they reached the lodge room, they met Urs and Charlene who had the same idea. As the two couples were about to leave, Megan and Carlos arrived and the three couples decided to get something to drink.
“What happened to the dog?” Deanna questioned, sipping her cappuccino.
“We decided to wait until after the wedding. It wouldn’t be fair to adopt a dog now and then put it in a kennel,” Megan answered.
“But we did buy the dog and it will be waiting for us in London,” Carlos added.
They finished their coffee and continued the sightseeing before they returned to their rooms to get ready for dinner. When the clock hit 6 pm, they all met as agreed and walked to the cars that David had arranged for them. They arrived at the restaurant and they were having a great time, talking about both the wedding and the honeymoon. David and Monique would spend the honeymoon at the Jewel Runaway Bay Resort in Jamaica and the suite was perfect for honeymooners.
After dinner, they returned to the Della Terra and went to their rooms for a good night’s sleep. The next two days would be busy for all of them with rehearsal ceremony, rehearsal dinner and finally the wedding. After that, it was a week’s honeymoon for David and Monique and one week of relaxing for the other Divos and their girls. It was the perfect place for a romantic holiday and it was just what they needed. The tour would be here before they knew it and then they didn’t have time to do something like this. They loved being on tour, meeting old and new fans but sometimes they needed to relax and just be themselves.
Friday was a busy day for the Divos because they had a rehearsal ceremony and rehearsal dinner but they did find time to relax between the two events. In agreement with the other Divos, David had booked an appointment for the girls at the Essence Spa Treatment Room because he thought they could use some pampering. While the girls were getting massages and body treatments, the guys were watching movies at the in-house theatre and having a good time. David’s family arrived in the afternoon and they were all looking forward to the big day. They were shown to their rooms and they all met for the rehearsal dinner later that evening. After the rehearsal dinner, they all said goodnight and returned to their rooms.
------- The Wedding -------
Finally it was Saturday and it was the big day that Monique and David had been looking forward to. As agreed, the girls met in David’s room and David had arranged for some champagne while they were getting dressed. In Séb’s room, the guys were getting dressed too and they were discussing who looked best in the suit. Of course it was impossible for them to agree on that subject and they decided they all looked good.
“It’s time for you get married,” Séb padded David on the shoulder.
“Already? God, I never thought I would be so nervous about getting married,” David looked at his friends.
“It is normal to be nervous, son. If you weren’t nervous then something would be wrong with you. Now I will pick up your bride and meet you downstairs,” David’s dad said.
“He is right, David. Let’s get you married,” Carlos told him.
The four Divos went down to the ceremony area and David greeted the guests before he took his place by the wedding arch. The other Divos joined him and as they waited for the girls to arrive, David became more nervous as the minutes passed. Suddenly the music started playing and the doors opened. Charlene walked down the aisle, followed by Megan, Deanna and finally Monique with David’s dad. Monique looked so beautiful and David had never felt more happiness than he did at that moment.
David’s dad placed Monique’s hand in David’s before he took a seat next to his wife. Deanna took the wedding bouquet and the ceremony could start. The minister spoke and everyone listened to his words. Both David and Monique had written their vows and it was time to tell each other these vows.
“I, David, affirm my love to you, Monique, as I invite you to share my life. You are the most beautiful, smart, and generous person I have ever known, and I promise always to respect you and love you. With kindness, unselfishness and trust, I will work by your side to create a wonderful life together. I take you Monique to be my lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health for as long as we both shall live,” David said as he held Monique’s hands.
“I, Monique, affirm my love to you, David, as I invite you to share my life. You are the most beautiful, smart, and generous person I have ever known, and I promise always to respect you and love you. With kindness, unselfishness and trust, I will work by your side to create a wonderful life together. I take you Monique to be my lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health for as long as we both shall live,” Monique repeated the vows.
After saying their vows, it was time to exchange the rings and Monique was surprised to see the rings that had been designed by David. She had no idea what to expect but the rings were beautiful and she would be proud to wear that ring for the rest of her life. With the exchange of the rings, the priest announced them husband and wife. They shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
“I can’t believe that my baby sister is married. It’s sad that our parents are not alive to see this,” Séb sighed as they walked to the dining area.
“I’m sure they are here somewhere, looking down on her and you,” Deanna told him.
“It feels like they are here,” Séb smiled at her.
They arrived at the dining area and the decorations were amazing, kept in the same color as the bridesmaid dresses and the wedding bouquet. After being seated, David bid the guests welcome to the wedding and they hoped everyone would have a great time. The starters were served and the food was delicious. As soon as the plates had been removed, Séb stood and started his speech.
“I can’t believe that my sister is now married to one of my best friends. It seems like yesterday that these two wonderful people met at our first concert. David noticed Monique the second he walked onto the stage and he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Monique didn’t seem to pay any attention to him and David got angry when he saw me winking at her. He had no idea that Monique was my sister and he didn’t speak to me at all until after the concert when I introduced him to Monique. David asked her out on a date and they have been together ever since. I love both of them and I wish them all the happiness in the world. I would like to ask all of you to join me in a toast,” Séb said.
All of the guests stood and joined Séb in the toast. After being seated again, the main course was brought in and a silence spread throughout the room. It was the perfect wedding and everyone was having a great time. More speeches were done during the main course and after the main course the other three Divos stood and sang to the happy couple. David had no idea about the performance and he was surprised to see his brothers singing to them. As soon as they had finished the song, David and Monique hugged all of them and thanked them for the song. The dessert was served and the guests were asked to go to the gathering room while the tables were being cleared.
About fifteen minutes later, the guests returned to the main area and took their seats again. The coffee was served and shortly after, the wedding cake was brought into the room. David and Monique cut the cake and the guests looked like they were enjoying the cake. David’s dad had walked Monique down the aisle and now it was time for him to do the father/daughter dance. Yes, he wasn’t her dad but he thought of Monique as his daughter and she should have her father/daughter dance. He had already spoken to Séb about it and Séb thought it was a good idea. David’s dad rose from his chair and walked over to Monique, asking her to dance as he held out his hand to her.
Monique wasn’t expecting that but she put her hand into his and let him lead her to the dance floor. Séb looked at them and seeing Monique so happy, made him happy too. Soon after, David took over and they danced their first dance as husband and wife. Séb stood and asked Deanna to dance and shortly after, they were joined by the other couples.
It was just after midnight when David and Monique left the wedding to celebrate their marriage in private. The other guests continued to party and the party didn’t end until 3 am. It had been a great wedding and everything had been perfect. Tomorrow would be the start of a new life for David and Monique and for the rest of the Divo couples it would be the start of a great vacation.
