Chapter Twenty Eight


Afterwards, while laying together tangled up in bed Amanda and Urs talked.
‘I love Jenny. I guess I always will but not like I love you. I need you. In my life. To hold in my arms. Without you I feel….incomplete. I never felt that way ever about Jenny’ Urs told her.
‘But you call out her name…in your sleep’ Amanda said, sighing.
‘I dream about her. About the accident’
‘But you weren’t…there’
‘I saw her afterwards. I had to…identify her body’
‘Oh god…’ Amanda cried.
‘But that doesn’t mean I don’t love you. Because I do. I’ve loved you ever since I first saw you’ Urs smiled.
‘After practice’ Amanda nodded.
‘No, when your friend called out my name’
‘I knew you’d heard…’
‘I turned around, saw you and that was it. I was hooked’ Urs smiled.
‘I…I had a crush on you’ Amanda admitted to him then.
‘Oh?’ he asked.
‘I…I guess I was a fan’ Amanda shrugged.
‘Of the band?’
‘No. Just of you’ Amanda blushed as she said this.
Urs blushed too on hearing it.
‘I’ve…embarrassed you’ Amanda noticed his blush.
‘A little’ Urs admitted.
‘Sorry’
‘No. Don’t apologise. I’m glad. Otherwise we might have never met’

‘You had to audition’ Urs realised, nodding.
‘Yes. But also because of my hand, I almost didn’t’
‘But you play…left handed…’
‘I‘We almost didn’t’ Amanda sighed.
didn’t used to. I had to learn again everything I’d learnt before. So I could do it left handed. Not naturally being left handed it took longer than it had done right handed’ Amanda admitted.
‘But you did it. You succeeded’ Urs smiled.
‘Yes, I did’ Amanda nodded.
‘You had a reason..’ Urs half asked.
‘I wanted to be in your orchestra, I love making music. To me, nothing was greater’
‘Was?’ Urs asked.
‘Until you and I…’ Amanda smiled, looking up at him.
‘Then thank god to me!’ Urs winked back.
Amanda playfully smacked him on his chest.
‘Oi!’ Urs complained in a playful manner.

‘Come here, and I’ll kiss it better’ Amanda winked.
Urs pulled her close, ‘Tell me again, how do you feel about me?’ he asked.
‘I love you’ Amanda smiled, placing a kiss on his chest.
‘I love you’ Urs replied, kissing her.
‘Hey, who is Belinda?’ Amanda asked a little while later. Well ok, a long while later after a lot of kissing and making love.
‘No one’
‘Your…ex-girlfriend, is no one?’
‘She doesn’t exist’
‘Doesn’t…’
‘Nope’
‘But…’
‘You were sitting on the bed at the time you asked me her name’ Urs explained.
‘Belinda…Bed’ Amanda realised.
‘Yep’
‘Sneaky’
‘Hey, I had to call her something, my pretend ex-girlfriend’
‘You lied. Because I mentioned Lukas…’
‘I had to. There was I, just about to ask you out, and you go and mention him. Defence mechanism on my part’ Urs said, shrugging.
‘Instead of being honest..’ Amanda said.
‘Honesty would have killed the conversation dead’ Urs shrugged.
‘Yes, I guess it would have done’
‘I could have said, ‘Hey my last fiancée died, in a car crash. How about you?’’
‘Then I would have told you, about Lukas being the one…and we would have never…’sighed Amanda.
‘Oh. We would have’ Urs smiled.
‘But Lukas…’

‘Yes, Lukas and not you killed Jenny’ Urs said.
‘I still thought you’d blame me…’
‘As I said before, and I will say again, you were a victim’
‘I never thought of myself as a victim before’ Amanda admitted.
‘You were in love with Lukas. Blinded by him’ Urs said.
‘Blinded by him, yes. In love with him? I doubt it somehow. Especially not the sort of love I feel for you’ Amanda smiled.
‘So, you and I…we’re together then?’ Urs asked.
‘Apparently, we’re engaged’
‘Yes’ Urs smiled.
‘But its on the wrong finger…’
‘Come here then’ and Urs took the ring off Amanda’s right hand, he then dragged his body out of the bed.
‘Where…are you going?’ Amanda asked.
‘No where’ Urs knelt nakedly, by the bed.
‘Oh, I see’ Amanda giggled.
Urs took hold of her hand, ‘I love you so much Amanda. Marry me, please?’ he asked, gazing into her beautiful chocolate coloured eyes.

‘Please. Yes please’ Amanda gazed back.
Urs placed the ring now onto her left hand, and climbed back into the bed. He shivered.
‘Come here’ Amanda held her arms out to him.
‘Hmmm…the warmest place to be’ Urs smiled, snuggling in.
‘Hey, one thing thought’ Amanda suddenly said.
Urs tensed up, ‘What?’ he carefully asked.
‘Our…baby’
‘Yes?’ Urs asked, relaxing now.
‘Do you mind…about it?’ Amanda asked, she felt nervous now. But she had to ask. Had to know.
‘Mind about it?’ Urs asked.
‘Well…yes’ Amanda moved her head so she could look at him.
‘I’m…now, what’s the expression? Oh yes, I’m…’ Urs paused, he beamed at Amanda, ‘I’m over the moon’ he finished.
‘Really? Over the moon?’ Amanda asked.
‘Yes, really’ he nodded.
‘Phew!’ Amanda finally smiled again.
‘I’ve one request though..’ Urs then said.
‘Go on?’
‘If we have a girl…’
‘I’d like that’ Amanda interrupted, ‘to call her Jenny’
‘That’s what I was going to ask’ Urs smiled.
‘Consider it done’
‘And, if it’s a boy…?’
‘Then the first girl we have will be called Jenny’
‘Thank you’ Urs smiled.
‘I’ve a feeling Jenny would like that’ Amanda smiled back.
‘Just what I was about to say’ Urs nodded, gazing at Amanda.

‘Amanda and I…are getting married’ Urs happily told everyone the next day at breakfast. They were altogether, having breakfast, everyone sitting next to their partners. Urs held Amanda’s hand in his.
‘Congratulations’ everyone smiled, hugging them both.
‘Urs loves you, you know’ Anita told Amanda.
‘I know’ Amanda smiled, ‘and I love him’
‘Him…mentioning his dead fiancée, it doesn’t mean he loves you any less, or that you don’t compare. It just means that he still thinks of her now, and again’ Carlos told Amanda.
‘I know. Urs told me. I understand that. Now’ Amanda nodded.
‘So, who’s next then eh?’ Seb beamed, his arms around Rebekka.
‘Well, I’m going to adopt Bobby’ David smiled.
He had asked Ana the night before. Ana was going to officially adopt Bobby too so they could be a real family.
‘Getting married too eh?’ Seb asked David, winking at him.
‘Its all apart of our plan’ David winked back.

Adoption of Bobby first. Followed by marriage. Followed by, more children hopefully. That was the plan David and Ana had decided on.
‘So, Carlos then?’ Seb then asked his friend.
Everyone turned and looked at Carlos.
‘Well…’ he nervously coughed.
‘He already asked me’ Anita smiled.
‘Oh?’ Seb asked.
‘I said yes’ Anita replied.
‘You and Carlos! Getting married!’ Seb laughed, snorting with happiness.
Urs winked at Carlos. David beamed at him.
‘I, of course…accepted Anita’s acceptance of my proposal’ Carlos wiggled his eyebrows.
‘When? Did I miss something?’ Seb asked.
‘Well, Carlos asked me the night Urs was meant to ask Amanda’ Anita said.
‘I should have said yes that night, if I’d been asked’ Amanda smiled, she gazed over at Urs. The expression on his face made her burst out laughing.
Urs thought Amanda laughing was the best sound he had ever heard. The sound of her laughter. Coming from his wonderful, wonderful Amanda.
His amazing, beautiful fiancée and mother of his soon to be child.

Six weeks later, after IL DIVO’s last concert, Urs whisked Amanda away on a surprise holiday which also included them getting married. They married, in Switzerland with just a priest, an official and them. Simple. Just how they both wanted it. Carlos and Anita married a week later, on a beach in the Caribbean.

David and Ana successfully adopted Bobby then married the same day.
Eight months later, Amanda and Urs became proud parents. To Jennifer Leanna Buhler. Known as Jenny. After Urs’ dead fiancée as promised.
Ok, Urs and Amanda coming and being together had had a rocky start that might not have happened, probably shouldn’t have happened. But who cares? In the end, like the title of this story, ‘Love Will Find a Way’, you may not end up with who you think you should. But who’s to say who’s right and who’s wrong? Love comes around rarely. People spend all their lives searching for it. Some find it. Some don’t. But its out there in lots of forms. So. Amanda and Urs deserve to be together.
Despite the odds they loved each other. Maybe it was destiny. Maybe it wasn’t. Who’s to know? Good luck to them anyway. They’ve managed through the bad bits, they’ll manage it through the good bits.
